  • Errata: In the video I made a mistake when I said Lingwu is in Southwest China. It's actually in the Northwest. Thanks to viewer Alyarato Tyelcuvo for the spot!
    AT LAST Not just a sauropod from PNSO, but a big one at 1:35! This is the Chinese sauropod Lingwulong, a significant dinosaur that extends the distribution of dipodocoids throughout the world.
    PNSO does this beautiful sauropod justice with an intricate sculpt and pleasing colour scheme and paint application that makes the wait for a 1:35 sauropod from them more than worth it. I’m absolutely delighted by this masterpiece!

    Pnso really stood out with this piece. The detail that it presents throughout the body with those scales and folds of skin is sensational. Something that makes me curious is the detail of the face with those teeth and that beak that the truth is that I know he always looks smiling, in fact I decided to change Alfredo's name for that charismatic face, the truth is he raffled it off with this dicraeosauride sauropod. great review mate greetin😎👍.

      Thank you HuertSauri! This really went beyond my expectations, and I love it for a perfect example of what scale detail looks like on a sauropod, and of course it has to be a 1:35 to look realistic. The toothy grin is something people either like or hate, but luckily I'm not affected by it at all. Indeed I have to get more used to the idea of a beak of sauropods 😁 PNSO really hit it out of the park and I am pleased that it just continues to improve.

      i know lips or exposed teeth is still debated and both hold good points in general (well here we got a beak so i guess exposed or incased in the beak of the animal) but i like when exposed teeth sometimes make the reconstructions look...well...like some people would say "goofy" or just neutral
      it makes this feature pop up like a natural characteristic not as something that is supposed to make the animal look scary or cool it's just how it is nothing is goofy or scary in nature it's just our view of it these things as scary or goofy but in reality they are...well just natural stuff no matter if they look scary or goofy to us they are what they are and it doesnt change

      I only have 4 dinosaurs yet in my display shelf. PNSO Brand also. Chacharodontosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Lambeosaurus, and Triceratop. Each has human figure beside it.

    this is amazing figure...i will sure do anything to get it no matter how long it takes since sauropods are my top favourite figures and also the amazing 1:35 scale that allows all these different scale variations to pop up which we know sauropods had from skin impressions which sadly could not be visible in the mamenchisaurus due to its smaller scale
    another idea for the cyan tail in my opinion is to display the weapon to the threat just like some animals have vibrant colors to scare predators away this one has this color that basically means "stay back" towards the predators of it's environment

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely right about the 1:45 Mamenchisaurus. As impressive as the detailing on that was, imagine if these same absolute sizes are used to depict the smaller scales on a 1:35 sauropod. The kind of differentiation of detail is going to be absolutely out of this world!
      I think any theropod who's had the receiving end of that whip like tail will give those warning colours a wide berth... those still alive that is!

    Never got around to giving my thoughts on the PNSO Lingwulong. I just received a PNSO Zhuchengtyrannus which is beautiful with the subtle green that I did not pick up on from your review of that figure, and was looking at it next to the Lingwulong.
    They’re both awesome figures and Lingwulong is so well sculpted and is a hefty chunk of dinosaur goodness.
    This is in my top 3 favorite PNSO figures.
    I highly recommend picking one up.
    Keeping my fingers crossed that PNSO delivers more sauropods in an approximate 1/35 scale.

    • @DinosDragons

      I'm glad you got it! Yes unfortunately the dynamic range of my camera is not the best, and I've noticed that especially with green hues, it falls short. Noticed that with the PSNO Styracosaurus as well 😌
      I for one will not argue with PNSO needing to give us more 1:35 sauropods! Hopefully the upset raised in the Chinese forums over the small 1:45 Mamenchisaurus would make them consider. The really difficult thing then, is actually in the cost of shipping to get the 1:35 out to you.
      What was the third of your top three?

    • @thomasmonroe7947
      @thomasmonroe7947 Год назад

      @@DinosDragons The number 1 spot has to go to their large vinyl Ceratosaurus. That is just one incredibly well done figure. And I favor their Lambeosaurus to round out my top 3.
      The Zhuchengtyrannus would be in the running but he’s got a case of crazy eye that I’ll try to fix.
      As always, your reviews are the best not just because of your showcasing the figures but the extra excellent content giving us all some science behind them. Something I hope we continue to get.

    This is a very nice model, but the brown is a bit PNSO standard. I actually like the toothy grin, and it would have been nice for some of the tail colour on the rest of the body! As always you bring us the best reviews!

      Thanks Richard, I don't dare claim that but I am delighted you like my videos!
      The frequent choice of browns is something fans on the Chinese forums are also talking about, and all are hoping for something a little different from PNSO. It's a little puzzling, you would think they have the hard part already, which is sculpting detail and scientific accuracy, the colour should be an easy thing to effect. Especially if you have seen Zhao Chuang's artwork you know he has a lot of creativity in terms of colouration too.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  Год назад

      I certainly hope so, but the cost for large 1:35 dinosaurs, especially with shipping to the West, is going to be a big problem. This Lingwulong is really hefty and solid, and I think unless PNSO went back to hollow PVC it would be a hard sell. I still keep hoping though.🤞
      The tyrannosaurids I think have a challenge in that most of them are so morphologically similar that it would be harder for casual collectors to appreciate subtle differences even if they could be seen. Parents aren't going to buy children 3 dinosaurs that look the same superficially 😪 But if they do, then hopefully they can differentiate them by things like paint and pattern. I think people are running out of goodwill with regards to the stripes 😥

    Absolutely delighted to see a Sauropod from PNSO. The moment I saw this 'Lingwulong' figure the first sauropod that came to my mind was the 'Rebbachisaurus'. Because they both had ridged backs and tall spines. (I think Dicraeosaurinae is a subfamily of Rebbachisauridae) And in my opinion, Rebbachisaurids are one of the most underappreciated and underrepresented sauropods in the dinosaur toy figure industry. The only figure I know is 'Nigersaurus' and that ugly and retro-looking 'Rebbachisaurus' figure. Either way, just like these obscure sauropods, there are some more unique and unknown species of dinosaurs out there that need more figures and hopefully, PNSO will do them justice. Excellent review as always my dear Sir

    The only animals I could think of would be a juvenile blue tailed monitor or a blue spiny lizard, I don't recall any other kind of reptile with a black bands around a blue tail. There are lots of species who have brown to blue fades without that specific patterning though, many kinds of skink come to mind. I really hope pnso takes more risks with color in the future, they take so much inspiration from mammals like kudu and other ungulates. 1:35 just how detailed the scales can be, and still look real! The challenge is how to make it affordable. PNSO has a large Western market now they have to also look after, and the price of shipping and middle-man charges are going to be astronomical if they make dinosaurs that are overly huge. Imagine when Huanghetitan came out, it cost the Western collectors 2-3x what we pay here! ☹

    PNSO to continue their sauropods in 1/35!
    It only makes sense as a standout continuation of a superb line of well crafted figures that will reign for years to come.
    If they cut out the museum line excessiveness of posters, etc., and market future large scale figures as Rebor has done, they will continue to capture the appreciation and wallet stuffing from collectors everywhere.
    Having the ability, as a collector and enthusiast, to fill a showcase with near scaled figures would be a boon even if the cost is semi-sauropdish.
    Keep it as consistent as possible and I’ll purchase each new offering, guaranteed.

      It certainly would make sense because even on the Chinese forums, many collectors were unhappy with the 1:45 scale chosen for MAmenchisaurus, since this is a dinosaurs many Chinese are obviously very proud of. The problem with 1:35 is the cost, and the weight to ship to the West, and then the hefty prices they would pay for that.
      That said, we all are really hoping for more 1:35 scale sauropods, at least of the popular genera like Apatosaurus and Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus. Perhaps they will one day consider hollow vinyl figures again, which _would_ help to save on shipping.

      I don't think so. My knowledge on extant reptiles is near zero but i'm pretty sure I've seen almost this exact same pattern somewhere before 😅

      Lingwulong has been estimated to be up to 19-20m. So at 54cm it works out to about 1:35.
