This was Brandon's best. He brought so many dimensions to Eric Draven. The insanity of being brought back from the dead as a kind of Demi-god. One of the best movies ever made. The dvd had interviews from the actors. Brandon was saying because his father was taken from him at a young age, he learned to appreciate everything in life. He wanted people to appreciate everything as he did because you never know when it’s your time…he later died during filming. It gives me chills every time I think about it. Also, Showdown In Little Tokyo and Rapid Fire are great movies of his too.
In 1994 I got my first tattoo, it’s Brandon as the Crow, and named my son Brandon who also grew up learning martial arts. I still watch it at least twice a year.

Lol, my friend did the same with his first born son. 😂
There is NEVER to be a remake of this film, Period!!!!!! It was as perfect a portrayal of Eric that there has ever been, Brandon was magnificent. RIP Brandon.
This is a yearly movie experience for me and my dad. I remember him watching it the night before Halloween each year when I was little, but I wasn't allowed to stay up and watch it with him until I turned 10. Since then, we've watched it on October 30th every year. I'm so happy that you liked it! Me and my choccy milk enjoyed watching with you!
"If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever."
Michael Massee, the actor who accidentally shot Brandon on the set, was so traumatized that he never got over the incident. He passed in 2016 still haunted by it. In a crazy irony he died of stomach cancer (Brandon was shot in the stomach though it traveled to his spine). RIP to both Brandon and Michael.
Michael never got over it and had spent a good decade not acting, but he eventually did pick it back up. Played an interesting character in Supernatural actually.
@@FalloutKlingon I have no doubt that he was traumatised by it, but to say that he spent a good decade not acting is patently false. There's a story from Bill (Brandon's best friend) Allen's book wherein he talks about fate and how he and Massee found themselves as costars on an episode of the TV series, Lazarus Man, from 1996 and how he was shocked at Massee 'inexpertly' twirling a revolver on set.
The Lee family always maintained and said that it was NOT his fault and that he would always be welcome to them. Brandon's fiancee (credited in this movie as his personal assistant because she was on set so often) is still very close friends with Brandon's sister and is considered part of the family.
Some movies have a fun soundtrack... Some movies have that one song that fits the scene perfect.... But this movie..... This.. movie... Every song perfectly fits the mood and sets the scene just as much as the visuals. Some of the songs on this soundtrack aren't even close to the style of music I like... But I love every one of them because when I listen to them I remember this movie.
25:08 this is the tribute moment for Brandon Lee, probably added in post production. The way the film frames do the slow motion thing.. RIP Brandon Lee, we 90s kids will never forget you. Nothing is trivial.. we remember.
As a kid this hit so good, nailing the o'barr art and tone dead on with brandon becoming an action badass was the perfect combo. instantly became a life long favorite love story that never gets old. "Nothing is trivial" : )
Yeah i remember my dad introducing me to this movie. It’s certainly on my top 10 favorite movies. The soundtrack is awesome, the cinematography is great and Brandon Lees performance is imo Oscar worthy. That delivery of “victims. Aren’t we all?” Ooooh idk why but I love that line. His dad would’ve been proud.
Brandon was really coming into his own as an actor and could have gone full-blown action/movie star, such a shame that was cut short. Would have loved to see where his career could have gone after this film; he was looking forward to getting married to his fiancee Eliza once filming had wrapped and was optimistic about a future he sadly never got to experience.
It’s interesting to note that Chad Stahleski, who double Lee following his death would go on to direct John Wick. I have a really strong sense that had Lee not died, there would’ve been every chance he’d have been cast in that.
@@promnightdumpsterbaby9553 Expendables actually came to mind as I typed that comment, have been watching those films again and thought Brandon would have been a terrific fit for a movie series like that.
Don't know if anybody else has mentioned this but one of the body doubles and stuntmen who took over when Lee died was the earliest job for Chad Stahelski (in the credits listed under a different last name). He was also Keanu's stuntman for the Matrix films and is the director for all the John Wick films.
Not only is the soundtrack amazing but the score is beautiful. Lots of ethereal atmospheric arrangements that really add to the mood of the film. All this combined with a great performance and excellent direction/cinematography.
18:31 T-Birds switch from spitting like an alley cat to piss your pants terror is smooth and immediate. One of the best character transitions I’ve ever seen!
Brandon actually learned how to play the guitar for this movie, and he wrote the song he plays on the rooftop. Heath Ledger definitely was inspired by this movie for how he did his face paint. And I think. Christopher Nolan was Somewhat inspired by this movie because The table scene in this movie And the table scene in Dark Knight Are very reminiscent.
The police officer, played by Ernie Hudson, played Winston in the Ghostbusters trilogy and videogame. Other notable actors are Michael Wincott, Tony Todd and David Patrick Kelley
The Crow ... My favorite Halloween movie. It's a horror flick, but for the bad guys. It's very original. It's also probably the best love story ever. That, even in the darkest, most slimy, grimey, evil environment, love still prevails. This movie gets me in the feely feels everytime. Thanks for watching.
Being... "Older" I can assure you that Devil's Night was a real thing back in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Mainly in Detroit, (but also in other cities), arsonists would set countless fires that fire departments could hardly keep up with, all on the night before Halloween. I remember reading newspaper articles about it every year. Thankfully, as it became easier to track the arsonists down, Devil's Night kind of faded away over time.
The year the Crow came out, 1994, was one of Detroit's worst nights. The city took some pro-active measures after that and arsons have died down to "normal" levels since the 2010's
Brandon Lee acting was first rate, and his role of the Crow could have been a springboard for sequels. Sadly his time was cut short but the movie bears testament to Brandon's acting skills which would have made his dad proud.
I'm so glad you loved this movie. It's been my favorite for the past 18 years. The performances, the orchestral music, the soundtrack, the action, the drama, the set design, the cinematography, etc. Everything was perfect. Rest in Paradise to Brandon Lee and Michael Massee aka Fun Boy.
My favorite movie of all time. You couldn't help but get emotionally attached to the character. The haunting music carried it. Thanks for playing through it. I enjoyed watching it over your shoulder. Great editing.
At 18:40, T Bird's death is my favorite scene. He only read that poem one time over a year ago. I TRULY WONDER, how many times he looked in a mirror and said, "Abashed the Devil stood, and saw how awful goodness was." He tries to argue his way out. When he realizes he recognizes Eric, and things aren't normal, he stops fighting immediately. He KNOWS, he belongs in hell. He repeats the poem as he understands it's true meaning.
I recently met James O’Barr the creator of The Crow and he stated that he wrote the Crow as a way to cope with the loss of his girlfriend who was killed by a drunk driver. The character was born out of nothing but sorrow and anger.
One of my favourite films of all time, near perfect gothic fantasy revenge thriller love story - so many different elements coming together to make something that no-one will be able to capture again. I could go on for days about now brilliant this film is, seriously.
Best soundtrack ever ,, I have the full soundtrack on my daily playlist , And yes I think of the movie when I listen to them well not all of them just great songs
This really is my favorite soundtrack ever! It really captured the essence of the early 90s (92-94 namely) with its use of the industrial sound. Nine Inch Nails, The Thrill Kill Cult, The Cure, Helmet, Rage Against The Machine, Pantera…it was all so well used.
This may be the first The Crow reaction I have seen from my sub list. Thank you for watching it. I watched this with my best fried when we were young teens. This made me very nostalgic today.
Good catch with Sully from Commando. That's where I first recognized him. David Patrick Kelly. He's also played Charlie the clean up boss in John Wick.
I saw this in the theater, went and got a tattoo of Brandon Lee as the Crow the next day. It is still my all time favorite movie to this day. It has flaws, but it resonated with me. The diametrically opposed themes of death and resurrection, love and vengeance, the way they chose to handle backstory and exposition through pschometry, making it an ability as well as a storytelling element, Graeme Revell's score, the soundtrack, and of course most of all... Brandon Lee's performance... love this movie. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great reaction!! This is one of my favorite movies of all-time. Among many moments in this film I remember getting chills when Eric is ripping that solo on top of the roof in the sunset before smashing the guitar in anger. You realize dude was a damn good musician and that solo was the last time he would get to do the thing that gave him joy in life.
Lauren. Thank you so much for watching this movie. This is one of my absolute favorite movies. It is a shame, the son of the iconic Bruce Lee, Brandon, passed away so young. He had an amazing career ahead of him. He was handsome, great range of acting, he can be dramatic or funny (Showdown in Little Toyko was another of his films with Dolph Lundgren). This movie is amazing in the real life lesson it teaches. Form the mother being the word of god on lips hearts of all children. To the nothing is trivial. (my mom and dad always did little things for each other because at end of day love isn't about money. It is the little things you do for people that matter and stay with you. Ie. my mom always kissed and told my dad she loved him before bed no matter how their day went. My dad would always do-little things for my mom too like help with dishes even though he worked 13 hours on railroad, etc. This movie was so beautiful. Again, thank you for watching this classic.
Brandon Lee was just getting started when he died. A truly tragic accident. The Wachowski's have gone on record as having said he was their first choice for The Matrix. Can you imagine that? There's another one of those "Good, bad" movies similar to Commando, it's called "Showdown in Little Tokyo" with Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee. It's a fun time. I'd highly recommend that one for a watch. True popcorn fun.
I got to see this on the big screen, when it was originally released. The soundtrack album is definitely worth a purchase; it really captures the vibe of that time. I also think this is a deeply romantic movie at heart, and Brandon’s performance is definitely the highlight. Great reaction, and greetings from Ireland! 🙏🏻
One of my favourite movies of all time. The soundtrack to this and Queen of the damned are 2 of the best movie soundtracks ever made. I use to be goth and still have my fall length leather jacket from 25 years ago.
Oh man, one of my all time faves. I dress up as The Crow for Halloween when I didn't have time to get a costume. It's effortlessly to replicate this look. So cool and some moms recognize me as The Crow.
Ah, my mid 90's dark and spooky macabre phase summed up in one single movie, Lol. I loved this movie growing up and have watched it over the years when I want to reminisce over that period. Movie STILL holds up as an atmospheric action film
Hi Laurenn, when it comes to gothic-related movies, immediately 3 names come to my mind: "Interview with the vampire" (1994), "Dark City" (1998) and this one. Have a look at the other ones if you don't know them already.
This is one of a Kind Masterpiece of a Movie. The Vibe, the visual gothic/grundge Style, the Score/Songs and the awesome Cast. The Death-Scene of David Patrick Kelly is one of the greatest Gosebumps-Moments ever. R.i.P. Brandon Lee. Taken way too soon
The soundtrack is great, NIN, Stone Temple Pilots, Jesus and Mary Chain, Rollins Band, Rage Against The Machine, The Cure, Violent Femmes,... banger after banger.
Brandon Lee said in an interview that the putting on the make up was Eric creating a personality that could do what needs done, cause Eric Draven couldn't handle what happened to them. Always thought that was a cool way to view it.
In the 90's i was the token white EDM fan,but a lover of graphic novels, and loved O'Barrs work. So i went to watch this and its abysmal sequel. Can remember being sat in the cinema, being surrounded by emos and goths, and hearing someone say " finally, someone made a movie for us",and then his mate replied "nah, this is for everyone". Got talking to them afterwards..a white raver and a bunch of leather clad painted 20 yr olds...and just sat in a pub discussing the movie, and how it affected us all the same but differently. Now im a 49 yr old dad of 2 and still friends with that crowd of "freaks' i met that night. Its a movie i watch at least once a week, and still get goosebumps every damn time! And we still talk about it.
Dude what a cool story. I'm ten years younger, but was the raver kid for whom half our crew were all about grunge and britpop, yet we all read comic books. And this movie always meant a lot to me as a half Chinese kid (and massive Bruce Lee fan) who needed someone like me as a role model to look up to. We didn't have many, but I was the crow most every Halloween after. And you grow older and your musical appreciation becomes more encompassing, and a tapestry weaving it's way through your life starts to make itself apparent that goes beyond music, youth subcultures, identity, ethnicity, and threads you wouldn't have expected start binding in ways you wouldn't have foreseen, and at some point you step back, sit down, Zen like, and can appreciate the majesty of it all ✌️❤️
Great movie !! I watched it so many times when I was younger and Brandon Lee was on his way to being a huge action movie star. He was in a couple of other pretty good action movies like Showdown in Little Tokyo with Dolph Lundgren and Rapid Fire with Powers Boothe. Great reaction !! Thank you so much for such a special treat.
I worshipped this movie as a teen, RIP Brandon ✊It released at the perfect time when grunge started to die and dark alternative music started getting big like Tool.
One of my most favorite films ever. The soundtrack (and score both) probably shaped me way more than any other one thing in my youth. This came out i think i was like 13 or so, i was in jr high, and helped at a comic shop, so i knew the movie was coming out beforehand, and all the images I'd seen looked so amazing, and then the soundtrack hit and it made me wanna check out the comic. DO YOURSELF THE FAVOR....find the TPB of this. Shouldn't set you back more than 20ish bucks, and it's a fairly quick read.
If you pay attention to the background of the pawnshop scene, the man stealing the television is J.O. Barr, the creator of the crow. It's a blink and you'll miss it unless you're looking for it scene.
The soundtrack is so good, especially The Cure's title. Such a tragic loss. This hits me in the feels every time I see it. Another great classic is Showdown in Little Tokyo, a buddy cop movie with Brandon and Dolph Lundgren against triads, which is fun. Feel so bad for Michael Massee who played Funboy who fired the shot that accidentally killed Lee. Massee has only spoken about this incident on film once, and you can see how torn up he still is today over this accident.
Heath Ledger totally used Brandons portrayal of the Crow as his basis for the Joker, the gang boss meeting scene in Dark Knight was definitely inspired by this movie.

He was great in Laser Mission too
This movie is beautifully dark and gritty, and Brandon Lee is badass. Loving this reaction Laurenn.
I never get tired of this movie; the end chokes me up every time. A Brandon Lee masterpiece. R.I.P.
The soundtrack for this movie is incredible.
Amazing comment. The soundtrack was on point. Stone temple Pilots. My life with the thrill kill cult. Unbelievable. 👍🏾👍🏾😎
Soundtrack is one of the best around
It really is. I listen to some of the songs from it almost every day.
They made enough shitty sequels what’s 1 more?
The soundtrack to this movie takes me right back to being a teenager in the early 90s. Great times
I do the same thing every "Devil's Night" Watch the movie with my oldest daughter Who I introduced to it at about age 12, She is now 23. Thanks.
Most people go immediately to Michael Myers for Halloween.
But this is my #1 pick for the holiday.
"If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever."
"Freeze! Dont move! One more move and youre dead." "And I say, I`m dead and I move." Such a awesome line.
Tragic because it wasn't even his fault. It was caused by a defective dummy round.
If memory serves me right, he left acting altogether for well over a decade because of it. Poor guy.
How does a women with your look and style live the amount of years you have not seeing this movie?!? Such a goth movie classic 🖤
As a kid this hit so good, nailing the o'barr art and tone dead on with brandon becoming an action badass was the perfect combo. instantly became a life long favorite love story that never gets old. "Nothing is trivial" : )
Man, The Crow was an absolutely badass film. The ending was beautiful, and ofc Brandon and Eliza's tribute really sent audiences to tears 😭💔
Kill Thrill Kult is still a fun experience.
i have the soundtrack and i play it often
Brandon was really coming into his own as an actor and could have gone full-blown action/movie star, such a shame that was cut short. Would have loved to see where his career could have gone after this film; he was looking forward to getting married to his fiancee Eliza once filming had wrapped and was optimistic about a future he sadly never got to experience.
It’s interesting to note that Chad Stahleski, who double Lee following his death would go on to direct John Wick. I have a really strong sense that had Lee not died, there would’ve been every chance he’d have been cast in that.
He would have been Neo in The Matrix
I would have liked to see him in the expendables alongside his former co-star-Dolph lundgren.
@@chrisleebowers That would've been something to see! Keanu did a great job but it would have been fantastic to have Brandon as Neo.
And he's earned his fame. Hell, Brandon probably could have done one of the JW films. Imagine him and Keanu fighting.
David Patrick Kelly is very talented.
One of my all time favorite movies and most likely the best soundtrack
I was like 6 years old when Brandon Lee died and now I am 35 years old man it's been that long since he's gone 😔
I still listen to this movie soundtrack a few times a year, it's just damn great. Thanks for reacting to this, loved your reaction!
I went to see "My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult" 2 years ago and they still play "After the Flesh" live. Was F'n awesome.
The last is of course the cleanup guy in John Wick. WHich was directed by Brandon's double in the film.
This is hands down my favorite movie of all time and it always warms my heart to see people enjoy this film, especially Brandon performance
The first movie my wife and I ever saw together. Nothing is trivial.
the moment she said "Im excited to find out what kind of movie this is" I knew I was in for a treat.
I love that you recognized the actor playing Tin Tin from "Commando" 😊👍
T-bird.
Tin Tin was the guy with the knives i think you meant T-bird lol
He was also in The Warriors.
Didnt they try and change it to, Angel's Night? I watch The Crow every year on my birthday, Devil's Night. @chrisleebowers
Brandon Lee acting was first rate, and his role of the Crow could have been a springboard for sequels. Sadly his time was cut short but the movie bears testament to Brandon's acting skills which would have made his dad proud.
Fun fact: Devil’s Night arsons were a very real thing here in Detroit, especially in the 80’s. We had a record 810 Arsons occur in 1984.
If I Remember the comic right Teebird was drawn like the main villain from the movie cyborg.
Brotha Ralph you are so right. The soundtrack was epic!👍🏾👍🏾😎
And don’t forget Henry Rollins! (Who had a brief cameo as the shit-box driver that hit Skank with his car and called him an asshair)
This may be the first The Crow reaction I have seen from my sub list. Thank you for watching it. I watched this with my best fried when we were young teens. This made me very nostalgic today.
I was about 17 years old when I saw this movie. The music and the aesthetics of the film stuck with me for a few years.
Good catch with Sully from Commando. That's where I first recognized him. David Patrick Kelly. He's also played Charlie the clean up boss in John Wick.
I still rock out to this soundtrack.
Born in 86’, so this movie is my childhood!
Greatest soundtrack to any movie _ever._
My number 1 all time favorite movie. Seen it in the theater when it first came out. Also a awesome soundtrack.
“T-Bird, buddy!” That line always cracks me up lol.
Indeed. Crows soundtrack is amazing. I have listened to it so much.
One of my favourite movies of all time. The soundtrack to this and Queen of the damned are 2 of the best movie soundtracks ever made. I use to be goth and still have my fall length leather jacket from 25 years ago.
I never had a full length leather, I had a cashmere “angel” coat
@@MrFilbot I have had my full length leather coat for about 30 years.
After this is “the crow: city of angels” which is a direct sequel to the first movie, then “the crow: salvation” then “the crow: wicked prayer”
Hi Laurenn,
when it comes to gothic-related movies, immediately 3 names come to my mind: "Interview with the vampire" (1994), "Dark City" (1998) and this one. Have a look at the other ones if you don't know them already.
Considering Dark City was the next film from the same director.
This movie is perfect and doesn't need remade despite Hollywood's constant attempts
FUnny how David is in John Wick. WHy? Because Brandon's double in this film is the future JOhn WIck director.
One of my first favorite lines: "Victims, aren't we all?"
I love this movie, one of my favorites, and I loved your reaction, I really liked how you focused on the more quiet and calm moments in the film.
Best soundtrack. Oh, the nostalgia.
20:46 That scene where Sarah says "I miss you..." was filmed after Brandon's death and she was hugging a body double. That makes it more sad. :(
The soundtrack is great, NIN, Stone Temple Pilots, Jesus and Mary Chain, Rollins Band, Rage Against The Machine, The Cure, Violent Femmes,... banger after banger.
Wow this one takes me back. I was deep into my jr high emo phase. Great movie Rip Brandon Lee
And you grow older and your musical appreciation becomes more encompassing, and a tapestry weaving it's way through your life starts to make itself apparent that goes beyond music, youth subcultures, identity, ethnicity, and threads you wouldn't have expected start binding in ways you wouldn't have foreseen, and at some point you step back, sit down, Zen like, and can appreciate the majesty of it all ✌️❤️
I have always enjoyed this movie very cool vibes. Great reaction Lady Laurenn.
One of the best soundtracks ever, I still listen to it till this day
Both the soundtrack and the score are amazing.
@@jasonreiyn9311 YES SIR I HAVE THEM BOTH.
Great movie. And one of the best musical scores AND soundtrack combos ever
Brandon was so awesome in this movie. So much it makes me really torn about seeing the upcoming reboot.
That was the guy from Commando. He was also the cleaner in John Wick
He was also in a creepy movie staring Dennis Quaid called Dreamscape.
Yes, finally. This is the reaction I was waiting for. Thank you!!!
Heath Ledger in an interview said he got his inspiration for his Jocker look from Brandon’s portrayal in the Crow.
I also believe I saw somewhere that Brandon said he was inspired by the Joker in the comics.
I worshipped this movie as a teen, RIP Brandon ✊It released at the perfect time when grunge started to die and dark alternative music started getting big like Tool.
My favorite movie! Great score and soundtrack too!
Met him some years ago.
I thought this movie's style would be right up your street! Its a truly iconic film.
