It absolutely holds up -- it was just ahead of its time and a lot of people (esp. the studio) didn't know what to make of it, which is why there was so much more studio interference with the sequels. But since then, we've seen many superhero franchises take off by going *_more_* comic-accurate (e.g. MCU) versus *_less_* comic-accurate (e.g. X-Men with their standardized and generic leather outfits). And we've seen them do well by going darker/mature (e.g. The Dark Knight trilogy and Juaquin Phoenix's Joker) versus using kid gloves (e.g. "Fantastic Four" (2004)). A fusion between the two is always great, if they did it someday 'Where the Wild Things Are' style with the mouths and eyes being CGI, remove some of the 'suit' look from the body in areas it would be perfect. Still one of the best of Jim Hensons work, but no need to fear the new and old... just a pitty he died before the real take off of CGI since he was starting to use it around that time, what he could have done with it would have been amazing since he'd have definitely tried to fuse the two, practical and CGI and would probably have advanced it in some interesting directions it didnt end up taking until much much latter. @@emtadamd9488
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone yet react to that movie. I loved it growing up and when my daughter got old enough to understand it better I showed her and she loved it.
The suits have a person in them, but with animatronic heads. They were made by Jim Henson's shop, and they really did a good job all the way around. The fact that they can do these moves at all is a testament to how much thought and work Henson and Associates put into it is nothing short of amazing.

Well, there are two types of suits. There's the suits that they use for dialogue, then the suits they use for fight scenes which have less animatronics in them.
Sam Rockwell was also Wild Bill from The Green Mile… Also the guy you saw in the taxi in the movie who said, “Looked like some kind of a big turtle in a trench coat” he voices Raphael
thats actually not true the ooze would of turned daredevil into an animal if that was the case but the turtles were inspired by daredevil the foot were inspired by the hand from daredevil splinter was named after stick from daredevil but the ooze was false
What's funny is in the 2nd movie Splinter makes Mikey do blackflips as a punishment but when Splinter looks away Mikey just jumps and claps his hands and Splinter catches him.
2:17 - Raph accidentally left his sai behind, which April temporarily steals, hence his next line. No wonder he was pissed right then and there... (But eventually reclaims it in the subway) 4:03 - The Domino's delivery guy is portrayed by Michelan Sisti, who also portrays Michelangelo in-suit. 6:07 - The backseat cab passenger is portrayed by Josh Pais, who also portrays Raphael in-suit and voices him.
I remember watching this in theaters, I gotta say that I'm so thankful that I grew up in the 80s and 90s. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it! you should watch the sequels when you get a chance!
Fun fact: The cartoon was called Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles in the UK over concerns that “ninja” had connotations of violence that were harmful to children. Michelangelo’s nunchaku were also absent in many episodes as these were specifically banned from being shown. Even the word “bummer” was removed. Thankfully the UK censors aren’t as sensitive these days but that sucked for sure.
i had thought it was the japanese version that did all that because in japan at the time ninja basically ONLY meant something like a criminal assassin/bandit. i guess it makes sense that europe would also use that version due to the harsher rules about depictions of violence and certain weapons ect. in america we tend to be way more lax about violence in childrens media and way more harsh about any kind of sexuality. American cartoon producers when told they cant depict mutant assasins using swords to dismember sewer hobos in a childrens cartoon: "make them ROBOT sewer hobos, problem solved *wink* XD
SPOILERS FOR "TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2": I was told that a lot of American parents complained so much about the violence in the first movie that in the second movie, most of the turtles never used their weapons against people. They used sausages, and random objects, but most of them never swing a weapon at a person because they were trying to tone down the violence to appease parents.
@@BubblyRainbows that makes sense that parents would be the ones responsible for ruining something great rather than having to actually be parents. (im sure it was the thing to blame at the time if a kid did something bad and the parent wanted to blame something for it, much like rock and roll and video games) i had always assumed that the first film wasnt expected to be such a popular potential $ maker and so the writer/director had more creative control, then each movie after that had more and more investors and mettlers, like the toys r us lobby gaining more and more power and influence in the process and making everything look more like toys, vanilla ices manager insisting on dance party music video getting crammed into a fight etc (i like tmnt 2 but the quality and depth is very diminished compared to the first one, and the 3rd one is so bad its unrecognizable.)
I sooo loved this reaction 😀 My last post may have been lost somewhere So i repost here ...What a great movie nostalgia in full overload . The costumes were courtesy of Jim Henson 's creature work shop in fact during the end credits it says in loving memory of Jim Henson ..🙏 as this was the last project he worked on before he passed away . There were several different actors who brought the turtles to life the voice actors ,the actors who wore the suits and the stuntmen who did the fights some of which were courtesy of some noted Hong Kong Stuntmen since this was co produced by Golden Harvest 👊martial art fans in the know will recognize that name . This is just what i needed to cheer me up plus your wonderful reaction Laurenn Cheers .😀❤
I was just at the right age when Ninja Turtles hit in the late 80s. It was a pure phenomenon at the time. I was ate up with it, I remember my Mom taking me to see this in theaters. There was toys, comics, shows, movies, video games, school supplies, lunchboxes, clothes, food, and just about anything else they could slap Ninja Turtles on. I even had Turtles sheets on my bed at one point. It was huge at the time. I still remember those hostess pies they had, filled with vanilla pudding and covered in a green sugar coating. It's a wonder they haven't brought those back. What's crazy is the original Ninja Turtles comic, where it all began, was a harder and grittier book to begin with. They got toned way down for the franchise we all know today. Even then, they were still outlawed in some countries because Michelangelo used nunchuks, a weapon banned in many parts of the world. In the 2nd movie they got toned down again, being discouraged from them using their weapons. And the cartoon they ended up giving Mikey a grappling hook/rope to use instead of his nunchuks. I'd say this movie is one of the only things that's aged well from the franchise. And the games after part 1. For me, the concept is too silly for me to keep up with it and enjoy it as an adult. But I'll still play the beat em up games. This movie definitely holds a lot of nostalgia for me.
A few fun facts about how TMNT parodied some popular comics: they took teenagers from New Teen Titans, mutants from Uncanny X-Men, ninjas from Daredevil, and Splinter from Daredevil's sensei, Stick 😂
Interesting backstory for this movie, originally it was intended to be closer to the cartoon with a more teen movie style direction. However when director Steve Barron signed on, he insisted on making it as close to the more adult oriented comics as possible with a more serious story and darker visuals. He also convinced Jim Henson to sign on to do the effects which he would've otherwise refused to do. It went over so well that when TMNT creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird adapted the story in a comic, they gave special thanks to Steven Barron for honoring their original vision.
And it pissed parents off so much, which is why the second movie was toned down so much. Parents also didn't like the use of the weapons in this movie, hence why the turtles don't even use their weapons in the second film.
I wonder how many kids lost their respective minds when they saw Leo and Raphael double teaming as a giant turtle bowling ball near the end of the movie?
Saw this in a near empty movie theatre with my brother when I was 10. There were 2 guys a few rows back who were smoking and already high as hell. It was my first exposure to the Ninja Turtles and marijuana.
My kids were huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans from the time they were toddlers watching the cartoon. My son was a Donatello fan and his twin sister was a Michelangelo fan. For their 6th birthday I made each of them their own favorite character cake. Of course I could barely grasp anything fir a few days after using an icing bag to decorate those 2 turtle shaped cakes but the look on their faces made it worth it. They loved the movies as well. Now my great-great-nephews (1 1/2, 2 1/2 & 4l) are living them too since I played the dvds for them.
Glad that you enjoyed this, it's a childhood favourite. Just for clarification - Raphael didn't have a thing for April, he just wanted to get his sai dagger back.
This originated as an unofficial joke spin off to Daredevil. The same chemical that made Matt Murdock blind also mutated them. Daredevil fights Hand ninjas, the turtles fight foot ninjas. Daredevil was trained by a guy named stick, and the turtles master is splinter.
I love this movie. The practical and suits are amazing. Those guys are nuts to be doing moves in those heavy suits. The first scene with Raph and April, is him sighing because he lost his sai. He has to be discreet but lose his weapon, not the best.
It does great service to the cartoon, which like a lot of 80's toons would teach a lesson, like don't steal, don't waste food, etc Things your parents would teach you, well should be teaching you. As for the movie itself, it is the ONLY movie that I saw in the theaters 15 (fifteen) times. Yes in the theater, not counting at home. Favorite part: Michelangelo's head retracts into his head to avoid getting hit "I love being a turtle!"
The final film Jim Henson worked on. Also, the TMNT began in 1984 as a comic book with some parodying of Daredevil (comic book). The radioactive ooze was directly taken from an incident in the backstory of Daredevil in which the man tries to save a kid carrying baby turtles from a flying bottle of liquid. The man becomes blind in the process and becomes Daredevil. The “Foot Clan” was a parody of the “Fist Clan” in Daredevil. Casey Jones in the comics was inspired partly by Kurt Russell’s character in the movie, Big Trouble in Little China. In all, this movie is largely based on the comic book - backstory and all - with some aspects of the cartoon added in, such as the pizza and the headbands varying in color.
For the suits two versions were built. One for the dialogues. The were about 15 Kilogram for the suits themselves plus around additonal 10 Kilo for the head animatronics. Partly built into the backside of the shells. For the combat scenes, they used different suits where the animatronics were removed. Which means only 15 Kilogram. But still heavy. Imagine doing martial arts with extra 15kg weight around your whole body. Still. The suits from the Jim Henson Group are top notch. My childhood dream was to own one. Still is.
@@crankfastle8138 Ernie was one of the best entertainment martial artists of his day. I liked him better in the sequel where he played the pizza delivery guy
I'm glad u watched this because its one of my favorite movies, i don't watch it by myself anymore because it brings up sad feelings so watching it with u I'm not alone with my thoughts, thank u
God I can't get enough of this channel. Most channels keep doing the same old same old All 30+ Marvel movies which is super annoying, but this channel explores so much more. Movies that I didn't think I'd ever see being reacted to it's just a fun time it's really a watch along. Many reactors will stop the video and have a full on conversation with themselves taking you out of the film but you're make a short and sweet comment but you're keep it pushing, you won't dwell on literally nothing you're having fun with your observation and I really appreciate that, cute comments here and there and some pretty accurate guesses along the way makes for a smooth video watching experience I love it. 😁😊 Thanks for being the chill reaction channel
So a few fun notes, in the comics the creator of the Ninja Turtles was talking to the guy who made Daredevil and the crash that blinded Matt Murdok and the ooze that gave him his powers is the same as the ooze that changed the turtles. It's also why the turtles villains are the Foot Clan because Daredevil fights the red ninjas The Hand lol. Also you can't understand how outrageous it was to hear Raphael say DAMN several times in a kids movie in the ninties... it was ground breaking lol
"Also you can't understand how outrageous it was to hear Raphael say DAMN several times in a kids movie in the ninties... it was ground breaking lol" - stares in Transformers: The Movie, which is from "87. 😂
I was 80's kid and TMNT was one of my favorites. Cartoon tv-show, movies, NES games and action figures, everything kid could dream. Few other big ones for me were Star Wars of course, Transformers, He-Man, Action Force(GI JOE) and Ghost Busters. I think there was something else that i have forgotten already. I tried to watch Power Rangers when it came early 90's but i never stayed with it. Probably because i was entering Teenage and i started to mature out of kids stuff.
I'm so glad you've finally gotten around to seeing it. I've been following you for a while now, and we seem to like 99% of the same movies. I've mention this to you quite a bit, and happy to see you enjoyed it for the most part.
Casey Jones is the BEST part of this movie. I always say in every reaction I watch that he is my favorite Ninja Turtle! The way that he fights with hockey and sports equipment and just OWNS entire gangs of ninjas supposedly twice as prepped and trained as he is. Every time he comes into the scene, that badass guitar riff just tells you stuff is about to get cra-zy!
i grew up on this movie as a kid, one of my most favorite movies funny BTS info the turtle that say "it's a kodak moment", when you see him laugh a few seconds later, if you hit pause just as the turtle laughs, you can actually see INSIDE the mask. the director actually found this shocking and creepy, and for the sequel, they actually redesigned the head so that this freak accident wouldnt happen again
The good thing about this movie, besides the obvious, is that every time you watch it you see or notice something new... it can appear 'shallow popcorn' initially but its got a huge number of layers to it, and there are threads, themes and nuances to it that can be missed at first (and alot of people do)... even today after seeing it numerous times over the last 30 years I still see something or hear something I hadnt noticed. One of my favorites as a kid and adult, that i always watch, every time... no questions asked. Was in primary school when the cartoon hit the world (there was a build up to its release in my country and us kids were almost manic in anticipation) and it was a true phenomena, something that hadnt really happened before (it was like a Cartoon version of the Beetles craze lol)... blew up huge and blew up fast. Its also one of the perfect father & sons movies... and it doesnt hurt its got Judith Hoag in it (to quote Michelangelo 'Shes a baaabe').
The Red one Raphael wasn't infatuated with April. He was upset that she took his weapon that he accidentally left behind. You could tell that when he complains about getting it back when they get to where they live in the sewers.
Good to see you back Laurenn, you've been missed. Showing my age here but I can remember seeing this at the cinema as a kid and thinking it was the greatest movie of all time. Being a fan of the comic and cartoon I was blown away. And to this day I have 'Turtle Power' by Partners in Kryme on my Spotify playlist. Turtles & Transformers was my childhood!
This was so much fun watching with you Lauren. It's a blast seeing you discover these gems. Also loving the new little additions throughout. Always always a joy watching with you Lauren. Peace and love.✌️❤️
One of my favorite movies as a kid, one of my favorite movies still as a 35 year old man. The final fight between the turtles and Shredder on the rooftop is just iconic to me. Was a lot of fun seeing you react to all the scenes I'm so familiar with, good video!
The movie has an awesome story and character development. It holds to a true ninja fighting style, not big explosions. The fighting choreography is solid for 1990. Super underrated movie.
4:19 what’s funny with this scene is the pizza guy is the guy inside turn Michelangelo suit so Michelangelo was giving the pizza to himself. The actor inside Raphael is the guy in the cab that Raph rolls across that’s going to LaGuardia. The actor portraying Donatello is the foot soldier that gives April the message and slaps her in the subway. The actor portraying Leo is one of the gang members when Casey is fighting Tatsu. Judith Hoag who played April was not asked to come back for the sequel cause she was rude to the stunt crew and a pain to work with according to the producer. The actor who did stunt work for Donatello impressed the producers so much they gave him a role of his own in the second one. Ernie Reyes Jr is the stunt person and is in another ninja movie with his dad called “Surf Ninjas”.
7:24 "Wonder why they're called 'The Foot Club?' They have a thing for toes?" Have you seen Marvel's "Daredevil?" You know how the evil ninja clan is "The Hand?" In the original Ninja Turtles comic, it is strongly hinted that the same radioactive goop that splashed in young Matt Murdock's eyes ran down into the sewer and mutated Splinter and The Turtles. The Turtle's Master is "Splinter" because Daredevil's Master is "Stick." Turtles lampooned a number of other popular comics at the time but there are more parallels and direct references to Daredevil.
Saw this in the theater when I was 12. Still holds up and follows the comics close enough during that time. I thought Corey Feldman voicing Donatello (my fav turtle) was a good fit. Thanks Laurenn!
Just so you know.... Each of the voice actors of the turtles cameoed in the movie..... The voice of Donatello 🟣, was the Domino's Pizza Delivery guy. The Voice of Raphael 🔴 was the passenger in the back of the cab that the Turtle Raphael rolled over. The Voice of Leonardo 🔵 was the FOOT 👣 who spoke to April before knocking her out down in the subway. And Michaelangelo 🟠 was the one of the thugs who jumped Cassie Jones near the end of the film....
You got Michaelangelo and Donatello mixed up. Michelan Sisti, the stuntman in Michaelangelo's suit, was also the Pizza Delivery Guy. I didn't know about any of the other cameos, but my dad grew up in the same neighborhood as Sisti (but didn't know him personally), so it was big news locally when he was in the movie, my dad says.
I loved this movie when I was a kid. Heck, I still love this movie. I was lucky, and my parents took me to see this in theaters, as well as the second one.
Nostalgia, for sure. I watched all the og stuff. Power ranger, turtles, x men, gargoyles... and many, many more. Great reaction. I'm glad you got to see this. The 2nd one is good too.
My cousin and I saw this as kids together in theaters when it came out. When we left we were literally looking down the sewers to maybe see them on a rainy night. Then went together to see it again for the special 30 year anniversary release in 2020. It was a nostalgia overdose in the best way..."Pizza dudes got 30 seconds!" 🍕🐢🐢🐢🐢 Fun Facts: The VHS had a Pizza Hut Little League baseball commercial in the beginning but somehow Dominos got the best product placement ever. The delivery guy is actually one of the turtles out of costume. And so is the guy in the back of the cab when Raph rolls over it. Also notice Michelangelo is the one shown on the roof yelling for Splinter with Raph's voice, and the only one whose drawing is not shown.
6:28 It is the name. The TMNT comic sorta a spoof mostly on Daredevil. He fights the Hand, turtles fight the Foot. His master was Stick, Turtles master is Splinter.
I was five years old when this movie came out and I was obsessed with the turtles for years. I had the VHS tapes, toys, everything. God I miss the 90s.
There were so many people who worked on each turtle. Character-actors who did the movements for dialogue scenes. Stuntmen for the action scenes. Multiple controllers for each turtle's head. The voice actors for each character. There were two sets of costumes for each turtle (maybe more, can't remember). One for tight shots and dialogue with not much action. And a head with no animatronics with a suit made for full range of motion for the fight scenes. But...what else would you expect from Jim Henson?
I’m so happy to see that this movie is still be shown love, even 33 years after its release. I grew up watching the 1987 cartoon version of the turtles, which was the reason why I was so excited to find out that they were doing a live action movie!!! I can honestly say that I’m happy that I was able to experience watching it in the theater. 😊
The actors that played the Turtles all had camos in the movie out of costumes. Michelangelo actor was the pizza delivery guy. Raphael actor was the guy in the cab. Donatello was the Foot guy that slapped April, and Leonard was the henchmen next to Tatso when they rescued Splinter
Fun facts: The suit actors have uncostumed cameos. One was a foot ninja, one was a gang member, one was the pizza dude and the last guy was the passenger in the cab. -In one scene, Donatello has a mouth... in his mouth! -Originally Tazu kills that one ninja, but they made him survive his beating in post production.
2:39 You're right there are 3 people for each turtle except for Raphael (suit/voice actor). Martial arts stunt performers, suit actors for regular scenes and voice the actors
The pizza delivery guy, and the nunchuck ninja were 2 of the actors that were in the turtle costumes. Also, the actors in the turtle costumes and the footclan ninjas, due to the weight of the said turtle costumes, needed to film their fights in a slow manner, and they sped up the camera, post production, to make the fights look normal and natural.
I love that the turtles' actors pulled double duty. It's hard to nail down which "Gang Member" Leonardo was, but Mikey got out of the suit and played the Domino's Pizza guy, Raph was the guy in the cab that got startled by 'himself', and Donnie was the Messenger Ninja (Your mouth may yet bring you much trouble Miss O'neil... _thwack_ Shut it!)
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic took a lot of digs at Daredevil, which explains some of the weirdness. The canister that had the mutagen cracked a guy upside the head before falling in the sewer, which was very similar to how Daredevil lost his vision. The Foot Clan was a reference to The Hand, which was an organization that Daredevil had fought. The movie touches on a few issues of the comic heavily, notably the first one where Shredder was killed (though it was a thermite grenade falling with him that killed him). A lot of that rooftop finale was similar. Casey Jones and Raphael meet in the comic, and Raphael sees Casey as what he would be if he wasn't reined in by Splinter. The two end up becoming friends from that point. Some things were changed around in the movie. Leonardo was the one who got jumped on the rooftop and put in a coma in the original comic ("What Goes Around Comes Around"). There's parts in the movie that were redone oddly, like Michaelangelo's arc being basically removed. There's a few indicators still there; like when supposedly Raphael screams Splinter's name from the rooftop, you see nunchucks on his waist. It was clearly a change with ADR. There's a training shot where Raphael is hitting a heavy bag; that's Mikey as well. The campfire scene has one turtle actually crying; guess which one. Even the earlier scene where Donatello asks if he thought about what life would be like without Splinter, it seems like the shift to talking about pizza was an attempt to avoid confronting his feelings.
Fun fact. The people in the costumes all made real appearances in the movie. Pizza guy was donnatelo Cab customer was Raphael One of them was the nunchuck foot
The actors who played the TMNT in the turtles suits actually made actually appearances in the movie Michelangelo was the pizza guy, Raphael was the taxi cab passenger, Donatello was the lead Foot soldier who slapped April in the subway and Leonardo I'm not sure
Met the cast and they are just amazing to talk to. Told them about me making my own turtle comic when I was a kid, and they were thrilled to know how much the franchise impacted my childhood. Only one I have not met yet was Eernie Reys Jr (Donatello). But I've got a poster autograph from the others. Even got me into martial arts as well as much as Power Rangers.
fun fact, the creators of TMNT have gone on record saying that the radioactive goo that made them is part of the same accident that gave Daredevil his powers
I love the nunchuck showdown between Mikey and that Foot Ninja. But the scene that will always hit me in the heart is when the Turtles are sitting around a campfire and they get a spectral message from Master Splinter. Fun fact about Master Splinter: He was puppeteered and voiced by the same man who originated Elmo on Sesame Street, Kevin Clash.
You are correct that it's just like the Power Rangers. Fun fact, the voice actors of the turtles are all in the movie. Michelangelo is the pizza delivery guy. Leonardo is one of the gang members, Raphael is the passenger in the back of the taxi and Donatello was the Foot messenger that meets April in the subway.

No argument here. Even Jim Henson himself said this was his best work
There was nothing cooler than Shredders entrance to 9 year old me in 1990. Truly epic.
I suggest one of my favorite childhood movies: "Harry and the Hendersons" from 1987. Oscar for Best Makeup.
Not to mention it features the late Great Kevin Peter Hall(Predator 1&2) as the titular character
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone yet react to that movie. I loved it growing up and when my daughter got old enough to understand it better I showed her and she loved it.

I was told that a lot of American parents complained so much about the violence in the first movie that in the second movie, most of the turtles never used their weapons against people.
I sooo loved this reaction 😀
My last post may have been lost somewhere
So i repost here ...What a great movie nostalgia in full overload .
This is just what i needed to cheer me up plus your wonderful reaction Laurenn
Cheers .😀❤
The foot clan is an old Japanese tribal ceremony of being some loyal ninjas to the sheddar
Something like that Ninjas...
My family just moved to the US, I was 10, and sadly learned any American slang from the show. But it was so good. The game too.
@@crankfastle8138 I'll still play the games today. Lol. What county did you move here from?
Barron respected the source material. If only he did part 2 and 3 with Baxter and Ratking.
I can tell you from personal experience, you can dress like a Power Ranger and rep your favorite Turtle at the same time.
I wonder how many kids lost their respective minds when they saw Leo and Raphael double teaming as a giant turtle bowling ball near the end of the movie?
*_I can’t believe this movie went through 33 years of existence without someone making Fetish Foot Club jokes about it! ...🤣 I love it!!!_* 👍
Tarantino has entered the chat.
6:13 The taxi passenger was also one of the actors in the turtle costumes. So was the "Shut it!" ninja at 7:15, he also was one of the turtle actors.
Just so you know. "Cowabunga" is deep rooted in TMNT lore. It was their main catchphrase in the 80's cartoon
Glad that you enjoyed this, it's a childhood favourite.
Just for clarification - Raphael didn't have a thing for April, he just wanted to get his sai dagger back.
Mike lol
If I had kids, I’d have them watch these TMNT movies. Then the first animated movie and then everything else. I bet they’d like the 90s ones the most
Foot Clan.
The Foot Club includes people like Tarantino.
Interesting, in Daredevil, I always thought they were called "The Hand"
@@Daniel73-23 I think you’re correct and I goofed.
Still is.
How Ernie Reyes jr was able to do the choreo in the suit is amazing.
A great fun reaction, Laurenn.
It's great to have you back. It was such a phenomenon back then, kids loved them.
I couldn't help but notice the Rambo worthy PTSD flashback in her eyes when they said footclan . I cant imagine the messages she gets 😂
I saw this in theaters when I was 7 years old, one of my best theater experiences ever
YAY! So fun to revisit this classic with you! Also, those flashbacks from Splinter describing the baby turtles still make me laugh 🤣
The G.O.A.T. of live-action Ninja Turtles movies! 🐢🐢🐀🐢🐢
My 12 year old daughter loves TMNT. We have been watching it together and bonding a lot. It has been so awesome.
i grew up on this movie as a kid, one of my most favorite movies
funny BTS info
the turtle that say "it's a kodak moment", when you see him laugh a few seconds later, if you hit pause just as the turtle laughs, you can actually see INSIDE the mask.
the director actually found this shocking and creepy, and for the sequel, they actually redesigned the head so that this freak accident wouldnt happen again
This is one of my all time favs after my first ear surgery as a child I watched this non stop during my recovery.
The Red one Raphael wasn't infatuated with April. He was upset that she took his weapon that he accidentally left behind. You could tell that when he complains about getting it back when they get to where they live in the sewers.
Shredder’s entrance is still badass and ominous to this day.
Complete with that silver cape too!
F'n love it Laurenn!!! My dad took my brother and me to this and was so stoked!!
6:33 The Foot was an homage/parody to the Hand, the bad guys from the Daredevil comics :)
This is my new favorite LoveLaurenn movie reaction. I love the turtles. Superb content Laurenn.
The edit inserts are great fun!
LOL @ Lauren with the pizza price side quest
One of my favorite childhood movies of all time, cool reaction as always Laurenn, you have a nice day sweetie 🥰❤️
7:24 "Wonder why they're called 'The Foot Club?' They have a thing for toes?"
Have you seen Marvel's "Daredevil?" You know how the evil ninja clan is "The Hand?"
In the original Ninja Turtles comic, it is strongly hinted that the same radioactive goop that splashed in young Matt Murdock's eyes ran down into the sewer and mutated Splinter and The Turtles. The Turtle's Master is "Splinter" because Daredevil's Master is "Stick." Turtles lampooned a number of other popular comics at the time but there are more parallels and direct references to Daredevil.
Homeboy just comes strolling out and starts spinning his chucks showing off, Lol. Cracks me up every time. Mickey was like "oh shit"
One of my favorite movies from childhood to now. Great way to be introduced to your content lol
*Did you notice a VERY YOUNG SAM ROCKWELL???*
I had this on VHS way back when; probably watched it at least once a week - absolute fire.
My cousin and I saw this as kids together in theaters when it came out. When we left we were literally looking down the sewers to maybe see them on a rainy night. Then went together to see it again for the special 30 year anniversary release in 2020. It was a nostalgia overdose in the best way..."Pizza dudes got 30 seconds!"
🍕🐢🐢🐢🐢
Fun Facts: The VHS had a Pizza Hut Little League baseball commercial in the beginning but somehow Dominos got the best product placement ever.
My second favorite film of all time. I always tell people to revisit this as an adult if they haven't
6:08 The guy who plays Raphael is the guy in the back of the cab. Nice little cameo there. 😝
Oh man! I spent part of the 80's watching TMNT, the cartoon series, while eating pizza! Great reaction. Thanks!
Great reaction, love de Domino's price check intermission lol.
Raphael was the only actor who wore the suit and did the voice. He was the passenger in the Taxi cab in the beginning of the movie.
Great reaction.
My lil Sis was obsessed with TMNT's. So many memories there
Lauren that is what we call practical effects...... When movies had heart that went into them. Even bad ones.
Another bit of Daredevil jabs from the turtles is Daredevil being trained by "Stick" and the turtles by "Splinter".
Fun fact. The people in the costumes all made real appearances in the movie.
Pizza guy was donnatelo
Cab customer was Raphael
One of them was the nunchuck foot
The actors who played the TMNT in the turtles suits actually made actually appearances in the movie Michelangelo was the pizza guy, Raphael was the taxi cab passenger, Donatello was the lead Foot soldier who slapped April in the subway and Leonardo I'm not sure
Aw yes Laurenn love this movie I have this on DVD and seeing you react to this movie was even better you're personality is awesome too!!! 🙂💟
Classic movie and thank you Laurenn your reactions are awesome, it's a highlight of my month keep up your great work.
Your the best ❤
fun fact, the creators of TMNT have gone on record saying that the radioactive goo that made them is part of the same accident that gave Daredevil his powers
