When the water sprayed on her for the first time, that look on her face was so full of joy and appreciation of life for the first time in 20 years. Imagine 20 years in a locked, barren room. These elephants are finally being cared for, thank you
None of what you wrote is shown in the video. Where did you get that its the first time she was sprayed with water and although they were in a concrete enclosure it didn't look like a locked barren room. Finally, elephants (in fact most animals) don't have the facial musculature to show expressions. It is something that humans evolved in order to better communicate in our social groups. Elephants do communicate in social groups but they do so with subsonic rumbles and sounds that you wouldn't hear. What you are seeing in her face is your imagination.
You could see quite clearly that their former handlers cared for them deeply, but were happy to see them move on to living a more authentic life. Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment with us!
It looks like one of those old zoos that was never modernized, where the animals are basically just on display. It must suck for the caregivers who work there, knowing how much better could be done for them.
I worked at a zoo this past summer that was subpar. It wasn't as bad as the one in this video but it certainly isn't good. All the keepers there cared a lot for the animals and did their best to make the animals comfortable, but unfortunately, the keepers themselves are powerless. Ownership is at fault for the poor quality of habitat. The keepers can only do their best and hope ownership will listen to reason.
@@et3182 That's a good reason for doing away with displaying creatures in captivity! Just like rodeos, a circus, using and HUNTING ANIMALS for sport such as racing, riding them, making them fight for betting purposes etc., you get the picture. There's a good counter argument for ever keeping animals enclosed and FORCING them to do what is not natural from them.
It is literally emotional torture to confine these intelligent and emotional animals to such small spaces. They are meant to roam many miles daily. Thank you for rescuing them from that concrete prison!
Elephants never forget that you saved them and offered them a beautiful life. The rewards are priceless. I want to thank you for helping these beautiful creatures 💖.

Oh my, for those of us who care deeply about the lives of elephants, this event is huge, and hugely moving. And for those who may just now be learning about the lives of elephants, welcome. I for one have had my life changed by these beings. Their powers of love and intelligence are larger than life, just as they are to the naked eye. Respect and gratitude to all involved in this rescue.
Well said. It’s heartbreaking and joyful all at the same time. I’m just so happy for them to experience freedom! And a big to the people of Argentina for recognizing that these and all- animals deserve a better future. ❤
Such gentle pies.....we enclosed them but there's not a single streak of anger in them..... I pray they will be happy for the rest of their lives now that they are at the sanctuary.
This, unfortunately/fortunately, reminds me of the story from a couple weeks ago about the two tigers in the train-car for 15yrs. They were finally rescued and relocated to a beautiful sanctuary. It gave me the same feelings all over again. Bless the people that do this magnificent work.❤️🌸
They were 4 train tigers. Mafalda and Sandro had two Cubs on the first years in that train ... Messi and Gustavo. All of them are now at a Sanctuary "Lions Rock" in South Africa
@@ZelmiraJulianes I remember seeing that too, and it was also another very emotional and sad situation. However fortunately they settled into their new home and now have much better lives. It astounds me that in this day and age there are still so many magnificent creatures being neglected and abused. Thankfully, there are people who are able to end this unnecessary suffering and bring these animals to wonderful sanctuaries where they can begin a new and free (to a certain extent) lives.
I remember going to The zoo In San Francisco as a young child and the elephants would spend their time rubbing their heads against the cement walls of the zoo And I remember how happy everyone was when the elephants were dropped from The zoo population! In my lifetime kinder and wiser😅i😅
When water was sprayed on her face, it was lit with joy. Priceless moment. I am glad these two elephants will be able to lead better lives. Thank you to the people who helped these two innocent elephants.
I agree with you 100% WeaverDreams. The people who save animals, who provide a good and enriched living space for them if they can’t be returned to the wild, are very rare humans indeed. God bless all of them.
You think these were saved. They were just moved to more of the same. Any "sanctuary" is a teaspoon reliant on tourists coming in close contact. Their chance to get back the life they were due is long gone. You're the dumbed down zombie.
I'm so thankful The Dodo is introducing viewers to Global Sanctuary for Elephants in Brazil. They do incredible work. P&G were rescued 4 months ago - 5 days on the road(!) that supporters (such as myself) around the world followed anxiously but excitedly. Like all the ele gals there, P&G have come SO FAR, learning how to be elephants at last. They look completely different now! GSE has more rescues in the works, including the female African (P&E are Asian) elephant at the same zoo (Ecopark) shown @0:19. Hopefully, this will provide exposure and lead to more funding to help make that a reality.
Yes!!! I’m in Canada and have been looking at these sanctuaries for these huge beautiful creatures. I want to donate and ALSO put some into my will for legacy funding. It’s my way of making up for the cruelty of humanity to so many of these beautiful souls. 🇨🇦💕🥰
I hope someone sends their former handlers and caretakers a video of them in their new home. Let them know they are doing better and a good future. God bless those that rescued them.
Really hard to not cry... I wish I could hug these people, tell them thank you for all the amazing work they do. Thank goodness for the giant hearts of world's rescuers\(^o^)/

A sad desolate life for these animals and the zoo and public for leaving it too late in a concrete pit. Thank you savers. I visited there many years ago and cried at its cruelest environment
My heart pained and tears came rolling down hearing the story of this duo. I'm so glad they have a much better life now. Thanks to all those who were responsible for saving them --you are my heroes. They deserve every bit of their freedom and beautiful life in their natural habitat. Seeing them happy and enjoying simple pleasures is so worth it. Thank you.
I cannot help but cry to see the horrible conditions these loving and innocent creatures were kept under. I live in South Africa and to me to see a majestic animal like an elephant, lion or tiger, any of the big cats in such squaled conditions, are heartbreaking. They now live in paradise! 👏👏👏👏👏💞
I’m glad people got together to do something. We always think something should be done when we see something that’s not right, but to get together with people with the same beliefs and do something about what is wrong is something we all should do. Thank you for making their lives better.
Most zoos have maybe thrice that space. Elephants are animals that instinctively travel hundreds of miles each year. Trapping them anywhere, no matter how big the area is still insanely cruel. Boycott zoos!
They felt what it was like to be free and feel the grass underneath their feet. Love the dirt and mud baths they were giving themselves. Wonderful story! ❤❤❤
This was very emotional. I can feel, maybe not enough, their sense of Freedom, but also I'm very sad for what they had to bear. THANK YOU guys! You're amazing 💗♥️🧡💛💚💙💜
I spent hours watching them when they arrived - waiting for them to leave their crates - when they finally did it was wonderful. To see them now is just incredible - this place is truly heaven on earth for the elephants there - I can't wait for more to find out what a special place it is.

I watched their rescue live in Instagram. We saw them explore from their crate out to the barn, then to yard, then to the small pond and now they are making friends and healing well w all the rest. But definitely a lot of scratch at the back from Scott is the best treat ❤ thankful for all the people who made this happen.

They are people inside, they have souls. They think, they remember. One female elephant can draw, they love music. It's like they're people inside, because they are. They are sentient creatures just like we are and all other mammals. This is so wonderful.
In Argentina, legally, they are non human persons. So that, a lot of animals were transferred to Sanctuaries ... two of them are these beautiful Pocha & Guille

Brava to the people who let their zoo animals go after so many decades! ❤️ so happy for this mama and baby!
So true Theresa. A spot-on way to describe a beautiful animal. I ❤️ elephants too.
They also mourn their dead
As humans have spirits so do the animals.
People inside... What did the elephants do, eat them? They are animals, yes capable of memories, mourning. They are still animals though.
What a beautiful story Helping these magnificent animals finally have freedom Bless all of you for giving them the life they deserve
