This brings back my childhood, I can remember rushing home after school to watch Lost in Space and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Thanks for the trip back in time.
One of the great series of the ‘60s. I grew up loving it along with Sea Hunt, Whirlybirds, Rat Patrol, Man from UNCLE, Combat, Lost in Space and Star Trek. They don’t make them like that anymore.
My mother used to call me home when this program came on that was back in 1965. Back during a better time in my life. Every body I knew was still alive.
As with ALL of Irwin Allens productions, the first season had serious plot lines. Voyage..as well as LIS. both became "monster-of-the week" episodes from the second season forward. Still, this show was a part of my childhood. Thank you for bringing this to the rest of us "boomers".
The second season was still largely the same mix of Cold War spy adventure with science fiction but began the veer into fantasy with the two Phantom episodes. Season 3 was when the show started really going monster of the week and season 4 was when it went all the way into LSD-fueled goofiness.
Thank you for bringing this fabulous show to us. Great show then and now. Aww The Flying Sub! The movie with Walter Pigeon was also my favorite. Major crush on Lee and Kowalski! Thanks again! ❤️👋🏻😀
Heavens! Flashback to the 60s and 50s. Some scenes still remind me of On the Beach (1959). Duck and cover in case of atomic bomb. Major crush on Richard Basehart. Thank you very much. Nice trip.
Loved this show! I had a model of the flying sub. One thing that really brought back memories are the sounds, the theme song and the electronic noises in the Sea View!❤
To me, this is one of the best episodes of the series! Well written with a bit of tense intrigue. This is how I prefer to remember the show (but I can't ignore some of the fun ones either).
Loved this show when I was a kid.... some of the monsters were scary (chuckle!) to a pre 6 year old. Now when you look at them they are quite cheesy.... but it was all part of the charm of these early sci-fi TV programmes. We loved anything that came out of the U.S. (here in the UK). They were quality productions. "My Favourite Martian" and "Lost In Space" were also on our screens round about this time. Happy days.🙂.

This episode had the best VTTBOTS script ever made.-- a real sci-fi thriller that had less monster hokum and more plot suspense than any I can remember while watching the show as a kid. Basehart, Hedison, and the sub crew were all in top form for this yarn, with a worthy guest star as an originlal kind of villain. Thanks for sharing!

Wait till you see some of the acting for hand-to-hand fighting, sfx of the Seaview doing flat spins under the water and some of the bazaar stories from the 4th season, you'll be eating your words. Just about every 4th season ep starts with the Seaview on fire but no one ever calls for the subs air to be scrubbed. Sharkey or Kowalski were always getting knocked out with that one chop to the neck/shoulder, and when anyone who was ever shot, they were always shot in the upper left shoulder... Nelson, Crane, Sharkey.... etc. How big was the Seaview, to have a separate launch room from its regular missile silos to launch a two-man space capsule with booster while under water into space. I watch it for good laughs and going to sleep, its better at putting you to sleep than after having sex.
DH was my 1st Felix Lighter for 007..... everytime I see him just reminds me of my 1st bond movie live and let die....love this show thanks for making the effort to upload these...
That was fun! Man I forgot how cheesy these Irwin Allen plots were. This show, Land of the Giant, The Time Tunnel, Lost in Space... all good family entertainment! I love that the Seaview is forever skimming the bottom of that fish tank! LOL!!
I remember this Irwin Allen Sci-Fi series, originally ran on Sunda or Saturday afternoon, bc my family sometimes went to my Dad's oldest sister house in the afternoon to visit &and we either had lunch h or dinner & my cousin & myself would watch it
18:19 "The Virginia Coast" Traffic all over the road. I love when they had to work so fast to get these old shows in the can they would say Hey Harry it has traffic.....Dont worry the audience will never see it lol. I loved that flying sub they didnt do enough with it for me.
Just like Star Trek, it's almost unbelievable that many episodes were filmed on just one standing set, with occasional film inserts. Yet the actors made it believable.
Brilliant opening- in color too - one of the best episodes too. Trivia note: as the flying sub heads into "New York" the building that comes into view momentarily at 29min 24 secs is the Century City (now fairmont) Plaza hotel which had recently been completed next to the Fox lot. This shot is only used once in the entire series. I stayed there in 2013 in a room seen in the clip, he he. It overlooks the Fox lot and back then overlooked more of it but some has regrettably been sold off since then of course.
Thanks for the trivia, good to know what we're seeing there. And thank you also for providing the cleanest copy (so far) of the season three "in color" opener! So far, that bit has not been included in any of the HDTV broadcasts of the season three shows. Fingers are crossed that we will get it on at least one.

I have wondered for years now why a major movie of voyage to the bottom of the sea has never been produced. They could really create incredible stories with today's special effects capability. It is really ripe for a remake.
Richard Baseheart had a great voice. I loved the Flying Sub as a kid. I thought it was plausible, and fantastic. I wanted one so bad, and i still believe that all these billionaires that don't own a submarine or a space station are nuts. James Cameron does, but the rest of them lack imagination.

I'm 64 and alot of these still intrigue me,even today... lost in space 1st season and the invaders ,outer limits , these shows had a vibe, almost surreal, even with todays mega effects, you could start watching these and get sucked in , even though effects are not good by todays standards, becuz the stories, writing and acting was good
LIke Melakon, the villain who made Ekos the genocidal tyranny that Federation history and cultural observer, John Gill, was so foolish to risk when he trying redoing Nazi Germany.
Kowalski sure had a lot of dramatic problems on this submarine that's because Irwin liked Del Monroe and told the writers to use him as much as possible he was the only sailor who ever had ongoing stories except for one time Patterson was a big part of the episode where his father was killed on an island with a mutant white gorilla that was a good one.
Hard to believe show started as a straightforward B/W TV show focused more on drama, adventure or espionage (just as did The Avengers, Man from UNCLE, Lost in Space, etc). They soon all went off the Deep (and FUN) End, especially once Batman hit.
Interesting the Actor that plays Senator Denis, Skip Homier plays several maniacal mind controlling characters in the 60s. The Outer Limits “Expanding Human”, Star Trek as a hippy cult leader Dr Severan, and earlier on Voyage to Bottom of the Sea as an enhanced human in the “Amphibians”. I am a fan of Skip’s and several other character actors mostly because they have appeared in my two favorite shows the original Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits. People like Philip Pine, Joe Maross, Jacqueline Scott, Lois Netleton, Arlene Martel, Don Gordon, Harry Towns, and many more. Love seeing these actors in 50s, 60s, and 70s TV and movies

I love the Admiral Nelson this guy was really cool, one time he was driving in a chrysler, Imperial, the one with the steering wheel the square, and it had the big round tire Circle in the back and big fins, he had two motorcycle escorts, it was a Admirals official vehicle, when he comes around the curve, a guy on a ladder, the flexible ones, what are snipers rifle and he shoots one of the motorcycle guards and Admiral Nelson tries to avoid him and he flips his car over and then Avril Nelson pulls out of 45 and shoots a guy that's hanging on the ladder of the helicopter and he got him, we had great movies back then I remember Cannon, with the famous karate chop
Global Apostasy, people stopped believing in God. Christianity is the cutting edge of any civilization, the reason for success in the world. Christianity birthed the entire continent of Europe and the mdern world which is why the civilized world looks the way it does.
Every time I watch an episode of this show it makes me wonder how, in real life, anybody could handle living in a closed-in container hundreds of feet underwater. My claustrophobia would have me running through the sub screaming my head off after about the first five minutes, lol.
So lovely to see it in HD. The best end theme tune too, which they then altered and edited a few seconds off at 45:47 for later series, which ruined the theme imo.

I do! It’s a bit sad. It was such a time of innocence and these shows were breaking new ground in TV, and now I’m old.
Don't forget, "Garrisons Guerillars". They took out a German division in every episode! It was very entertaining if a bit of factual stretch! Lol.

Beautiful quality. We used to watch this like it was sin not to back in the 1960’s. Loved the original Walter Pidgeon 1961 movie.

They are recordings of HDTV broadcasts. The films have all been freshly digitally scanned by the studio. Takes me back to the 60's, too.
The computer makes the men look like super marionnette Super Car or Fireball XL-5 characters.
It looked pretty tacky back then too. Looked like being in a swimming pool or flying by fishing line.

Skip Homeier played a Nazi and aHippie on Star Trek. He appeared on this show as different characters. Popular character actor.
Skip Homer always played the convoluted Villain in most of these Sixties early seventies Syfy television shows.

I love the Admiral Nelson this guy was really cool, one time he was driving in a chrysler, Imperial, the one with the steering wheel the square, and it had the big round tire Circle in the back and big fins, he had two motorcycle escorts, it was a Admirals official vehicle, when he comes around the curve, a guy on a ladder, the flexible ones, what are snipers rifle and he shoots one of the motorcycle guards and Admiral Nelson tries to avoid him and he flips his car over and then Avril Nelson pulls out of 45 and shoots a guy that's hanging on the ladder of the helicopter and he got him, we had great movies back then I remember Cannon, with the famous karate chop

If you go to 18:25 and see the coast when he says "Virginia coast", you can see cars traveling on the road. It happens fast but its very clear.
Every time I watch an episode of this show it makes me wonder how, in real life, anybody could handle living in a closed-in container hundreds of feet underwater. My claustrophobia would have me running through the sub screaming my head off after about the first five minutes, lol.
So lovely to see it in HD. The best end theme tune too, which they then altered and edited a few seconds off at 45:47 for later series, which ruined the theme imo.
That was the same monster from the episode, “The monster from outer space”.
