Second battle same spawn location, I use the spot on the rock at the valley. Knock the tree down for cover. It's good for TD's same size as Hellcats or smaller. Also use for Skorpion but the risk are because easier for the enemies to spot skorp due to its size.
The best position for arty in any game is the one where you can get shots from. Soooo many players make the mistake playing arty in not moving....ever. If you have not shots from where you are....move to get that shot.
What most people don't even consider in artillery is the speed. I have my M55 set up with full mobility build. Improved rotation mechanism in firepower slot, tier 3 Experimental mobility thing and bounty ventilation. Together with that I use Off road driving and Clutch braking on my driver and I use Gasoline instead of the fire extinguisher. It can move faster than mediums. There's nothing better than causing panic among the enemies when they have to reconsider if they're arty safe every 30 seconds. Also, I have the "That was Claus" voicelines instead of "That was close" so that makes playing arty much more enjoyable
Claus, you forgot to mention one additional (maybe the most important) benefit of this SPG position. At this location arty can fall over the ridge and drown himself almost instantly in case enemies get to close! 😅
First game, the blind shot was at the UDES 03, that player was never spotted till all the way to the last 20 seconds of the game and when he was finally spotted, he was at half health. The SPG player had 2234 damage at the end of battle, but in results he had 3089,, he hit the UDES for around 460 and the SU-130 he finished after he was unspotted for 350, add these together and you get 3000 total.
Hey Claus - Totally off-topic, non-WoT comment. Since you mentioned Pender Island, I checked its location on Google Maps & see it's slightly south of Vancouver. And that got me thinking about a TV show we watch - and I strongly doubt many WoT players have even heard of it because it's an "old folks" show made in Canada - HEARTLAND - about a horse ranch near the fictiously town of HUDSON, near Vancouver (actual town used in the show is HIGH RIVER, about 30 minutes south of Calgary). The show has a very Western USA feel to it with the two oldest male characters both being ex-rodeo champs and the youngest female character a "horse-whisperer", so I guess the western/rodeo culture is very much part of western Canada as well. But most impressive are the landscapes featured in the show. What a gorgeous country with wide open plains, beautiful lakes, and major mountain ranges. Presuming you live anywhere close to all that (and yes I realize Vancouver and Calgary are almost 1,000 km apart) it certainly looks to be one of the sweet spots on this earth of ours.
Having served in the artillery for 14 years, the problem with WOT artillery is that WOT has ZERO concept to a PD fuse. There will always be an impact with explosion. Penetration is another subject BUT with the M53/55 shooting a 210lb, 8 inch shell, even a non penetrating round should do more than 250 damage.
Maybe, BUT the creators of WOT like to sell their "AUTHENTICITY" but only in their favor. THE M55 shoots a 204lb, 8 inch artillery shell. THESE are the same things shot off of cruisers or destroyers. Can you comprehend what one of these does when it hits a tank? I vaporizes it, regardless of armor. There are picks during WW2 where tanks are hit by 8inch naval gunfire. They are flipped over and obliterated. @@michaeltalay3556
Is it just me, or when the game starts, and everyone is scurrying to their positions, so many of my team mates seem to smash into me? I will literally be going in a straight line, and a faster tank will pass me, (no problem) but then cuts in front of me and gets in my way, or just outright bangs into me. Then they start berating me, when my tank goes 3km/hr, and their tank goes 60 km/hr. It's like they don't have the mental capacity to drive around something. I can't say how many times, I start a game in my light tanks, and I start to go to the favorite scouting spots, and half my team either runs into me, or blocks me, or spins me around, then by the time I get straightened around, it's too late, because the enemy light will be at the spot, way before me, and we have lost the spotting advantage.
I always played light tanks and for me the most annoying thing in WOT was when muppet team mates blocked me at the beginning. These morons don't understand that reaching a good spotting position it's essential for the team's success and that they punish themselves when blocking the spotter. I also have the theory that in real life most of them don't have a driver's licence.
😂🤣 That Super Hellcat battle was perfect example of how it's just all luck and programmed. That was hilarious battle. Dude wasn't aware and still came out of that battle with a great Super Hellcat battle. 😂🤣
Claus, I think you should add some dramatic music when you say Would of Muppits. Like the beginning of a docu -series or something. Maybe zoom in on the amazingly designed shirt logo while the music plays. 😜😜
I hadn't played WOT for the last 3 yrs until the last week. The M44 used to be my favorite tank. But now, I can't hit anything with it. Apparently it has been nerfed severely. Seems like WOT has caved to the pressure from players and are trying to force SPG players out.
They definitely have been nerfed, and the days where you could carry a game with spg are over, but but combined, with stun/tracking/crits assist I still can make an impact for the better on my team
Hey Claus - A totally non-WoT comment. You mentioned Pender Island so I looked it up on Google Maps & see it's located slightly south of Vancouver, and that got me thinking of a TV show we watch titled HEARTLAND (and I'm sure not a show known to WoT players as it's an "old folks" Canadian show). It's about a horse ranch in the fictitious town of HUDSON, south of Vancouver, and has a very western USA feel to it as the two eldest male characters are ex-rodeo champs and the youngest female star is a "horse-whisperer", so I guess the "western" culture is very much part of western Canada as well. It turns out the actual town used as the stand-in for HUSON is HIGH RIVER, about 30 minutes south of Calgary. I see Vancouver and Calgary are pretty far apart, at about 1,000 km but I'm assuming the landscape as depicted in the show is similar around and between both cities. And it is a gorgeous landscape, with wide rolling plains, beautiful lakes, and major mountain ranges. Presuming you live anywhere near all of that it feels like you've found a pretty sweet spot to stay on this earth of ours.
No. In Romania 🇷🇴 we're also calling it "cap". You may have been confused, you didn't know what you were saying, it happened so fast ... we understand 🤣
I admit i do find the wild animal documentaries amazing, especially when animals make and use tools, but David Attenborough needs to come to my house and document my ingenuity when I'm trying to only make one trip from the kitchen to the man cave.
H8/H9 is a better spot for the 53/55. Hill for protection and bounce to either side to shoot around it depending on where the enemies are, AND you're already up on a safer place if your team folds. Yes, you have to use your keyboard a little, but I've found it to be a better position because of the options, as opposed to just sit still and hope you don't get countered. It does have better access into enemy spawn, though, I'll agree with that. But yes, the 53/55 is the best arty in the game, not just tier for tier, THOUGH it has felt like it took a soft stat nerf a while back adding a bit more R to its RNG.
I don't play Arty, and watching Arty replays make me so paranoid, you think you are playing safe and smart hull down and meanwhile some one from 600m away is just watching you from an invisible drone.
Arty player here. First off, speaking of the Amazing Secret SPG location, I would say it isn't that secret. 2ndly, even though this is a good location, it doesn't give the player alot of room to move if being countered. Because, like I said, it isn't that secret. Especially, to other arty players. Favorite Arty...The tier 9 American arty that was shown here is a really good arty. I do play it a lot. But my money maker is my M44. After losing money on tier 10, I can make it all back with the M44. Even with it's nerfs. For close 2nd I give it to four tanks. The tier 8 French arty LORR, Biship, FV304, and the tier 7 German GW.
watched your T34M video yesterday and thought what the hell before I stop playing let's take the Ruddy out, made it to the top 11 HP left and had 5 kills and had fun for once in a long time.
I have the M53/M55 in my collection. It's an alright SPG, but the downside of it that is the reload takes to damn long. It takes around 35 seconds to reload its gun. Sometimes the M53/M55 is NOT accurate with its shots, especially if the enemy tanks are on sloped terrain. It's like any other SPG in World Of Tanks.
Claus, at 11:42 in the video, end276 in the super hellcat pinged the mini map because he saw the EBR making an end run. But then he chose to ignore EBR to hide from the SU-100 who did shoot him twice.
I'm going to try that spot when I start doing the arty missions again. I just finished the Stug 4 missions last Friday. Do I just get the arty missions done or do I delay that pain until I get others done? We'll see!
I'm using the second gun right now. To test it. Not as good to "perma-stun", but it hits a little bit harder. Gonna have to go back to stock gun again to see which one I prefer.
The hellcat setup, i have the same, it gives you 60% cammo. Thats why he did not get detected. 😊 And i have a cammo directif on it. 😅 And i have i quess 522m viewrange..

French SPG, tier 8, 9 and 10 are still good for me. They dont hit as hard as others, but their speed allows you to reach crazy positions allowing you to support your team much better than keyboard-less, slow arty. Winrates are all above 50%.
I remember the old days when tanks could climb to the tops of mountains. I'd put my arty on top of a couple and just own the map.
I have been using that spot for a couple of years. It is great
Second battle same spawn location, I use the spot on the rock at the valley. Knock the tree down for cover. It's good for TD's same size as Hellcats or smaller. Also use for Skorpion but the risk are because easier for the enemies to spot skorp due to its size.
Yep - same here - when there's multiple arties I will traverse along that ridge a little more to avoid counter-battery fire.
The best position for arty in any game is the one where you can get shots from. Soooo many players make the mistake playing arty in not moving....ever. If you have not shots from where you are....move to get that shot.
I love my M55 but it's too long on the re-load, really love the Obj 261 ❤
M55 can hit targets better because of the higher angle vs the faster reload 261. it's a give and take of each and what map u might end up playing on

Being in bushes is so 2015. If you don't hide in the bushes you wont get blind shot. 200 IQ gameplay from Hellcat no matter what Claus says.
Yeah I noticed that IQ once he turned around and helped his teammate instantly.
Only after the KV-2 had been killed and that took a while.
Luv when it's SPG Day... usually get some great laughs from Clause!
Claus, you forgot to mention one additional (maybe the most important) benefit of this SPG position. At this location arty can fall over the ridge and drown himself almost instantly in case enemies get to close! 😅
Now that would be a really dirty, clicky thing to do ...
I've witnessed more turret tops drowning than SPGs.
SPGs rarely ever drown themselves. You'll see a regular tank drown like every 5 games...
What an hate against those arty players why? 😢
lol
I'd say tier for tier the LeFH is the best Arty... the M53/M55 is solid for a tier 9 for sure though. I'd say it's in the top 3 best Arties.
Spg are tracked vehicles with indirect fire gun (howitzer or cannon). Some fire higher angles than others, though.
First game, the blind shot was at the UDES 03, that player was never spotted till all the way to the last 20 seconds of the game and when he was finally spotted, he was at half health.

They nerfed the m44 hard, it was a sealclubber tank. Now you better take the Hummel or the tier 6 Russian spg. They are a lot better now.
I had an Ace in the M44...only had 629 dmg. the rest were stun pts

None of my spgs over tier 7 were worth playing after the artillery nerf.
French tier 6 still worked for me post-nerf.
French SPG, tier 8, 9 and 10 are still good for me. They dont hit as hard as others, but their speed allows you to reach crazy positions allowing you to support your team much better than keyboard-less, slow arty. Winrates are all above 50%.
