The recorded version was with their old bassist (Forrest LaPointe) and the bass is a fretless but marked meaning thd frets are there visibly but not there in reality. I own a bass like that.
I'm with you on the Strandbergs. Any time a band gets up on stage and one of their guitarists has a Strandberg, you know you're about to get your face melted off.
Cynic was the first metal band I knew of using a fretless . This band , obscura , ne obliviscaris are some that use it now .. I think possibly intronaut as well
Have you heard of Oceans Ate Alaska? The jams I like are Hansha, Covert, and Escapist. New lead singer. Their older stuff is good too like vultures and sharks. One of the best drummers out there.
I have! As well as breakdown of sanity. Two Amazing bands! Not a huge fan of the vocalist change for oceans though. And to my knowledge, BOS hasn't come out with new material for a few years right?

Actually they recorded the album with a fretless bass but the bass player on the video joined the band after the album.
