Beyond Creation is definitely one of the best tech death bands ever. Up there with Obscura and Alkaloid for me. Spawn of Possession is also a pretty good band to check out, won't be as inspiring as Beyond Creation but they are a solid band.
Check out omnipresent perception by beyond creation and that is a fretless bass with lines on it but the guy in the video isn't the one who recorded the bass on this song

Man, you should totally check out the song Transcendence by Gorod. It's a bit on the longer side at 15min, but it fucked with my head in the same way that a lot of Beyond Creation's songs do the first time I heard it. It's really something else.
I wouldn't be surprised if those guys were actual music teachers or lecturers, given their knowledge and proficiency on their instruments.
