    Guys she’s a KOREAN RUclipsR, so she ‘ s more confortable talking with her own language!! So what’s the problem? And she made the effort to add the subtitles in EN.
    Great work Jina keep it up.

      Korean is a nice language. The North has a harsher accent which works but a Southern accent works as well.

      SugarVomitNess - that would depend on where in the U.S. you're going to be. This is a pretty big place.

    • @quincycamo7577
      @quincycamo7577 6 лет назад +1

      SugarVomitNess - Both those states are each at least as big as Korea. If you're going to Manhattan, there's Central Park. Depending on when you go, there are a LOT of things goin on there. Then there are restaurants and things all over the place. The more public and clean it is the better off you are. Upstate, not real sure.
      Cali? I've only been there once and I was in the LA area the whole few months I was there. But there are all kinds of things.
      I know this is kind of a cop out, but the best bet would be to ask some of your friends that have already been to those places or find a travel agent there in Korea who specializes in the cities you want to go to. They can do things like avoid 3 hour long lines to see the Statue of Liberty and can recommend restaurants in the areas you plan to be in. It costs more, but if they have a good reputation, they've already got the lay of the land and can save you a lot of headaches.

      I wonder if that is just because of the language setting on youtube though, like, if I were watching this video and I had my language setting on korean, would the title appear in korean, or did she type the title in english? Either way, the subtitles were enough for myself.

      First time I saw any of your videos. Very well done, you look and act like a very nice, sweet young woman. I enjoyed it very much. I will look up your other videos. I do enjoy you speaking your own language and you obviously put a lot of work into them. I find the subtitles more than adequate. As for tipping even I am sometimes confused by that. Servers get 15 to 20 percent of the check total before tax. You tip hair people 20 percent too. The barista thing confuses me because it's just coffee not a meal and I'm standing in line not sitting, soooo, confused. People tip for a lot of services on the east coast as I understand. In the Midwest where I'm from, not so much. We expect you to do what you're hired for without expectation, if you get tipped great but expect no.

    If you get sick in America, urgent cares can be pretty expensive. I would recommend a minute clinic inside of a store like CVS or Walgreens, they can have someone check very basic things for you. After that, a local community health center, although the wait will probably be very long. Otherwise, try to bring medications with you or a traveling health insurance

      You never paid a dime, because the taxpayers paid for you. What "happened" is the tax paying voters woke up and voted for someone who lets them keep more of their money. Nothing is free. If you got free healthcare, it is because someone is working their butt off because the government is forcibly taking their money to pay for you. Pay your own way.

      I'm always curious what makes everyone's situation different in terms of health care. I can't formulate my own opinion on the system because I am not too well educated on it, but I'm a bit confused because when I go to the doctor, I only have to pay a 20$ Co pay. And if I have tests done it's usually only another 15$. Im just not familiar where these different circumstances/ perspectives derived from...

    • @kyolicious
      @kyolicious 6 лет назад +6

      The amount you pay when you go to the doctor largely depends on your plan. Even if two people have their insurance through the same provider (for example, Blue Cross Blue Shield) they may have different copays or coinsurance depending on what their employer offers or if they purchased the plan on the ACA Marketplace. The goal of an insurance company is to make money, so a cheaper individual plan might charge $35 copay to see a doctor, while a pricier plan through a large company-where the company is footing a large part of the total bill-might charge $15. Those elements, like the copay, deductible, and coinsurance are usually plan-specific.
      There’s also a difference in the fees that each insurance provider has negotiated with the doctor. Let’s say that you and I both have plans that pay 80% of any lab work. We both get a CBC, which the doctor bills at $250. But maybe my insurance company says a CBC actually costs $200. And yours says it’s $220. We’re both paying 20%, but we’re ultimately paying different amounts.
      This doesn’t even get into the taxpayer-funded plans. They’re similar, but also different. (I worked at a Medicare call center for about two months, 5 weeks of which was just learning the ins and outs. I could probably dredge those memories up if need be, but I’d rather not.)
      That’s probably more info than you needed. ;)

    Another thing about America is how large it is, which means it’s like a whole new country when you go North, South, East, or West. People dress more casually in the East like Boston and New York, but if you go to the Western part of the US, you will get a very different story. Not only is the dress style different, but the weather and culture is massively different as well.

    That's interesting. I grew up in California and I would be surprised if someone didn't wear a bra outside the house. But if you have smaller boobs it would be easier to do so without notice. All the other stuff I totally agree with though. Having lived in Korea for awhile, I usually experience reverse culture shock when I'm visiting the US. Tipping and small talk with strangers take some getting used to, and also the amount of open space and the slower pace of life in my hometown vs. Korea. I try to get medical stuff done in Korea, since I no longer have insurance in the US and Korea is generally cheaper. I do really appreciate the diversity that is represented and embraced in California though. Although it varies by area and personal experience, I grew up around people with different skin colors, body types, styles, etc. and diversity was usually celebrated. I also feel more comfortable dressing casually in public in CA, while in Korea I feel more self conscious about what I wear. My mind has become a strange mix of both cultures.

    I'm English but everytime I go on holiday somewhere it's so easy to play 'spot the American' because so many of them seem to just dress in athleaisure wear or like cargo shorts. I actually don't think the majority of the US is that fashion minded. Obv this is just a generalisation but when I went over there to do camp America all the kids kept questioning me as to why I was 'so dressed up' but I was just wearing stuff I wear everyday around England. If you want to see more eclectic clothing worn day-to-day I'd visit London not the East Coast of the US

      American Personal Fashion Standards have really kind of deteriorated past casual and heading towards hobo at an ever accelerating rate in the past 20 years. It began with "Casual Fridays" at work and seemingly devolved to "Please for gods sake at least wear pants in the office!". At this point outside of certain high level career professions such as Lawyers or business executives more formal dress has largely been abandoned outside of weddings, funerals and church on Sundays.

      Compared to the US...most other countries are very, very class conscious. Social status is not as important in the US as it is in many other countries. In class conscious societies people tend to use their clothing to signal their wealth and social status. In the US...showing off your wealth is considered tacky. And buying expensive clothing is considered a waste of money. Just think about Mark Zukerberg and Steve Jobs. Two of the wealthiest men on Earth...but they wear black t-shirts and hoodies. Warren Buffet drives a pick up truck...not a Ferrari. In the US you're supposed to treat everyone the same. Wealthy or poor. So Americans really don't feel the need to over do it when comes to clothing. We prefer our clothes to be functional.

My international Chinese friends tend to dress way more high fashion than the common person. My bf also felt the pressure in Seoul to not dress in his typical hoodie and sweats. I found the video at random, I live in the states and thought this would be interesting to watch. I'm happy that you enjoyed your visit over here, and concerning tips, don't worry. It's weird for us too, the waiters and waitresses are paid less than the average wage and they make most of their earnings through tips, sadly. And for bras, from a male perspective, I think they're more for supporting large breasts rather than hiding the nipple. To help girls so they don't develop back pains. And talking to strangers, it really depends on each person, most people just go about their business. It's not considered rude to have conversations with random people, and people generally have kind things to say, especially to visitors from abroad. Again, I'm happy that you enjoyed American culture, I myself would love to experience Asian culture sometime in my life.

    About bras and your comment. You are what we call in the states "woke." ♥

    • @mr.osclasses5054
      @mr.osclasses5054 4 года назад +6

      @@riorio745 Right, so the ACTUAL definition of someone being "woke" is a person who notices and acknowledges the issues happening to other groups of people, particularly people of color or people in the LGBTQ+ community, who have been the victims of discrimination, prejudice, or racism in some way during their existence. They attempt to be an ally to those people or groups to show that they 1) aren't alone, 2) care what happens to them, and 3) will try to help fix those wrongs so that we can move forward in a more open and accepting society.
      One such example is that of wearing bras for women. Women in the U.S. (and clearly other places) are sick of being told they have to wear bras, which I'm to understand are super uncomfortable and restricting, because they have boobs which for some reason are considered sexual organs by people and think they need to be covered up. A couple years back there was a movement by women to "free the nipple", basically saying to stop shaming women for not wearing bras or breastfeeding in public. It is a completely reasonable assertion that women should not need to fear being molested, stared at, looked down upon because they have breasts. They should be free to wear, or not wear, whatever they choose whenever they choose to. Men can walk around without a shirt, why can't women? Some people just can't get over nipples not being a sex organ and think women shouldn't have the right to do whatever they want. It's a complete load of shit.
      What you just experienced in reading "midgetydeath"'s comment is someone who is closed-minded and thinks that absolutely nothing is wrong in the U.S. and everyone should just shut up about it. He or she is the definition of a conservative asshole (for the record, not every conservative is one, but this person clearly is!) who thinks everything is against white people or straight people, and anyone who tries to help a group that has been marginalized or treated as inferior for years/decades/centuries to have more equality with those who have had it all along, is a fool.
      They claim there is a saying "get woke, go broke". I'm willing to bet they were oh so clever in creating that themselves. Businesses such as Nike or General Mills or others have seen little-to-no loss in profits after "getting woke".

    I’m American. And the bra thing has a double standard. I have very large breasts, so I feel like I shouldn’t be out in public with no bra on, but people with small boobs can. But I also don’t think people would shame me or anything if I did. I might just get some weird looks.
    Tipping in America: some restaurants put a “suggested” percentage that they would like to be paid. But you do not have to do it. You can tip anyone what you like, depending on how you thought the service was. It’s seen as rude to not tip anything. Also, not everyone knows this in America, even a lot of Americans. But you should pay the tip in cash and not with a credit card. Because if it’s cash, the waiter gets to keep all of the tip. But if it’s paid with a credit card, it’s usually taxed. The reason we tip people in America is because waiters are not payed a living wage. Which is unfortunate. My mother has worked in the food industry before and they only got paid $6 an hour, where the rest of minimum wage in my state is $7.20 an hour.
    Also, idk why people complicate the tip for themselves. A lot of people do the math on the actual percentage for the tip. I just pay waiters in whole numbers. For example, $8.00 instead of $7.56.

      Ashleysart Attack Tax policy on tip income varies. Some restaurants have automatic gratuity/tip for large parties (6/8/10/etc people). I don’t know if this is a recent policy, but in my current restaurant, the IRS taxes the tip. So the tax portion of the customer bill/tab includes tax on the food and the automatic tip for large parties. That’s double dipping. The customer is being taxed and the employee is being taxed on the tip income. As for tip income the restaurant declares for each employee to the IRS, some restaurants report what’s written on the charge receipt and some report what the employee declares (so the employee may not be declaring 100% of tip income subject to taxation). Employees are supposed to declare all tip income minus tips given to other employees (bussers, bartender, food runner, etc). Of course, most don’t declare 100% but IRS expects a minimum amount based on sales. Otherwise, employees who under declare could be subject to “allocated tips” (IRS adds in an amount based on sales). IRS does this if total tip percentage received by all tipped employees in the restaurant is significantly under reported. For restaurants with a no tipping policy, the “tip” is reflected in the higher price of the food.

    • @ashleysartattack5600
      @ashleysartattack5600 6 лет назад +1

      Ronald Chan that’s so crazy to me. The double dipping thing. Where my mom works, i don’t think anyone at her job declares any of the tips that aren’t written on the receipts. And her manager doesn’t push them to do it. She’s a food delivery person though. So she doesn’t have to worry about tables or anything like that.

    • @ronc9413
      @ronc9413 6 лет назад +1

      Ashleysart Attack Yeah, when I first found out about that, I thought “that doesn’t seem right” (also disincentive for customer to add additional tip beyond the automatic). Since then, the restaurant policy changed and no longer add automatic gratuity for large parties. Kind of sucks because there have been times where a large party was a server’s (not me yet) only table for the night (and they racked up a large tab) and they got nothing (no tip).

      There are a lot of places where workers share tips, whether they are cash or card. Cash tips still have to be entered into the system and in some specific cases tips are dispersed on a ranking system. In these cases it’s actually better to just ask how their tip system works. Workers won’t get offended if you ask.

I dont feel like there is any social pressure. But alot of young girls fear epsecially with a bigger cup, that wearing no bra will make them hang earlier. Plus some ladies with small bras use push-ups to emphasize for aesthetic reasons ofc.

    • @Mreffs101
      @Mreffs101 6 лет назад +1

      Not wearing a bra actually strengthens the pectoral muscles and the surrounding tissue that help keep breasts perky. If you do not work out these muscles because you always wear a bra you will actually sag at an earlier age just like if you do not exercise any other part of your body. You mention Nat. Geo. and you assume it is because of a lack of bras that these women have saggy breast but in reality, it is because these women breast feed their children that their breasts become saggy. Breasts grow when a woman is pregnant and breastfeeding and then shrink back down when the baby is weened. Many women also lose some fat from their breasts when breast feeding which also shrinks the breasts. That creates sag. It has nothing to do with not wearing a bra. Sagging does not cause stretch marks. Extreme changes in the size of the breasts does that, usually during puberty or during pregnancy but it can also happen with gaining weight in general as the breasts are mostly fat. No woman should have to wear a bra unless she wants to wear one, whether she has small or large breasts. Also, maybe it would be good to remember that all body parts start to sag as we get older and not put so much emphasis on women whose breasts are not naturally as perky as they were when she was younger. Bras are not natural, meaning the human body does not require one for any reason other than aesthetics.The only time I hear women say they feel one might be "necessary" is during sports and exercising, but that is more for control and support during very vigorous activity that is not the norm for everyday activity levels. It is not done to prevent sagging or to hide their nipples.

      I stopped wearing a bra when they tried to shove me into a 32DDD. That's not a real freaking size, I quit!
      I've seen plenty of super saggy boobs despite daily bra wearing, and I've seen plenty of big perky bra-free boobs (stripper titties, boo. How strippers got such nice perky titties if they don't wear bras? makes as much sense as nat geo boobs lol).
      It all depends on collagen, genetics, age, weight, fat/muscle, estrogen/testosterone, reproductive stages, etc.

But are you telling me that when you're in a relatively nicer area, like a middle class neighborhood, you are worried by a black person just walking by? Someone who is behaving normally and just going about their lives like everyone else? That's ridiculous.

    Great video! I couldn't help but laugh at the confusion over tips - it can be a bit confusing for us Americans at times too. While tips are inconvenient, unfortunately most waiters and waitresses here are paid very, very low wages and they count on tips as part of their salary. A general rule I follow is that if you liked the service you should add at least 10% to the bill as a tip. If the service was very good, or there were a large number of people in your group, then it should be at least 20%. Some restaurants will add a tip automatically , so be sure to double check the bill before you sign the receipt or else you could end up tipping twice. Maids, doormen, porters, etc...usually also expect to be tipped at some of the nicer hotels but the amount varies and is usually a flat rate versus a percentage of your total bill. (Although its always nice to leave at least some small tip for your maids regardless of where you stay.)

      JamesJ Fisk But the tip culture is not very positive because waiters tend to (passively) push their customers to order fast and leave fast. Of course, they don't literally rush us, but it's bizarre to sit down for a mere TWO MINUTES and they already come back and ask me if I've decided what I'm ordering. Then while eating, they come at least every 5-10 min and ask if everything tastes good or if I need anything (but they're really checking to see if we're done and they can soon get paid and start cleaning the table to prepare to receive the next customers).
      In places with regular wages, we take our time to order, then call the waiter ourselves when we're ready. We're uninterrupted while eating, and we call the waiter again as we finish and prepare to pay at our pace. We only tend to provide feedback while eating only if the food is bad, anyway, so leave us alone.

    This was so fun to watch. I was aware of some of our weird things like tipping that aren't prevalent in other cultures, but some of these things I didn't realize at all. Wow, I wish we had a better health care system, but that's not likely to occur any time soon with our current administration. Thanks for the great video (: also, speak in whichever language you feel most comfortable doing. I personally enjoy hearing Korean from you as a US subscriber because I'm slowly working to learn Korean and hearing pronunciations while you have the subtitles is really great (:

    • @AlexvrbX
      @AlexvrbX 6 лет назад

      Funny everyone always blames whatever dope is in office today. If you'd check, the last administration and those complicit idiots in Congress were the ones that mucked it up hardcore and raised costs. Look up insurance premiums pre-ACA and now. Adjust for inflation if you want, it won't matter much. They should have just expanded Medicaid a bit and left the rest alone. Also, if I go to Korea as a foreigner with no insurance, I'm sure a doctor visit won't be $10!
      Anyway a couple of big reasons reasons our medical care is so expensive: Our medical professionals are extremely well compensated, and they also have extremely high costs (such as malpractice insurance and regulatory burdens). The upshot is we have access to top medical care. Rich foreigners often come to the US for treatment or surgery. We create most of the medical breakthroughs and have access to cutting-edge treatments. The majority of new treatments, medical devices, and prescription drugs originate here, and then other countries piggyback off us. For example Canada sets artificially low drug prices. How do they get away with that? That's because in the US we (and our insurance companies) pay full price. The medical companies make their money off us in order to keep developing new treatments and medicine, and then other nations get to reap the benefits without contributing hardly any money back to cover the cost of development.

      It's not. I've lived in Korea and visited there many times. If you go to the hospital in Korea, or a doctor, you must pay for your care before they give it to you. And if you don't have international health care insurance, it is quite expensive (it is still kind of expensive WITH BCBS insurance). Also, they will not feed you or bring you water or anything at all. If you stay in the hospital in Korea, you must have friends or relatives to feed you, bring you a change of clothes, and everything else, because the ONLY thing the hospital will give you is the care you have already paid for. Be careful what impressions you get from videos and stuff - experience is the only real teacher. GO there and know for yourself. Korea is awesome. No better food anywhere IMHO.
