the cheapest i could find from all the parts you have, i come to a total of 708 euro in the netherlands, i took a gamble on the ram, and took 1866mhz 16gb which is low. because i run 16gb 2133mhz and took the cheapest of that i could find for 120. i need the 16gb of ram for cemu. still means my setup was much cheaper for nearly the same performance, i still really want a userbenchmark from your setup
Lel, I got G4600 for $90, H110 motherboard for $40 (used), 16gb ddr3 for $80(used), GTX 1050 Ti for 130, add a 450w psu for $40 then I got a PC. It can out perform yours since the CPU is better and no bottleneck even if you game. Sorry to say this, if you have to buy used, buy used PC components, not laptop. And you wrongly used "than" and "then" a lot man :))
the laptop type is the same, but the specs ain't, if you put 1000 hp in a golf mk1, it's still a golf mk1 i'd say, i think a laptop makes it what it is by it's own limit, the motherboard supports for some reason my 2133mhz 16gigs or ram and the 2760qm (even though it shouldn't), also egpu is also supported so i'd say it's the same laptop but on life support haha, but it's more like a cyborg because it's not "being kept alive" but actually incrases its power to a level it never had :D

oh yeah why put something away when it still can be used, even if i do one day stop using this laptop, i'm still gonna salvage anything i can from it, the 1080p panel will be good as a diy monitor and of every part inside of my upgrades will go towards a future build!, everything can always be used in some way! my only issue with this much power in this old of a laptop was that the cooling was not build for it, it runs 4x 3.2ghz instead 2.6 which made it run at like 93c but i got that sorted too :D so horaay for a succesfull upgrade :D
have you tried undervolting the CPU? i really recommend that to get the best temp possible. maybe even lower the clock speed just a bit can impact the performance. you should do careful research before attempting this though
yes but he means it's a general thing, people indeed often say "desktop are better, laptop's can't be upgraded" and yes that is stated by many idiot's who think they know stuff, i have many of those commenting on my video's, telling me that i could have taken the money i spend to upgrade (which is 217 euro's but they don't know, they just think they know it all) and tell me what killer desktop i could have build with that money, it's so stupid haha

Ben Aman What impossible is, most of the newest laptop today have been soldered together between the CPU and GPU with the motherboard, so it's impossible. But, back in the day, Laptop are upgradable because they were MXM type where GPU didn't soldered together with the CPU if I'm not mistaken
Michael Street seems like you don’t know what Frankenstein is, this is not about repair. Its about taking bunch of stuff that does not belong together and make it 1 odd creation that still works. A desktop gpu on a laptop, as example. You should look up what frankenstein is. Its a tale about a guy who build something like a zombie from different parts, his creation is called frankenstein.

this ain't one of those. those use thunderbolt. that are the "regular egpu's" i don't have a thunderbolt port, also i gave the gpu as example. my keyboard is backlit, which i did, my laptop does not come with a backlit keyboard, i've made a grill under the cooler to pull more air together with my external vacuum cooler. i've switched all the colors from white to green on all led's etc etc etc, there is a full list, that make this something it shouldn't be :P it's painted, it has a apple logo that lights up bla bla bla you get the point, btw my n3ds is far more impressive.

Dude you've got to teach us how to this stuff in a full on guide! Like "How to upgrade your laptop for dummies" and really get into all the details. Maybe even get a more recent budget laptop and turn it into a beast? Just an idea. I would definitely try this if you have a step by step tutorial :)

@@Gagliano17 When it comes to a high refresh rate or high resolution, you will need an eDP port. if you have LVDS or any proprietary port, you're out of luck. You can try to use an external monitor with the GPU or if you have DP port on your laptop to see if you can achieve a high resolution/refresh rate. If you can't do any of these things, you can try installing CRU monitor to attempt to overclock your display panel. I had a 2009 Alienware M15X and i overclocked the refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz with minor color defects. I also got 2560x1440 with 29Hz interlaced. So, luck may be on your side.
People like why not get a desktop? Because not everyone like sitting in one spot all the time and maybe people need a laptop on the go and when they get home it's they pc plugging it into a gpu etc. It's they preference not yours.
yeah and i had the laptop already, it was just the best option, ditching the laptop and building a desktop now would have not been smart, the gpu and psu will be good for a future build. i'll build a desktop, but not because i need it more for funs, and for the people that depend on laptops, this video shows what is possible

+Mohrez N thunderbolt does not decrease the performance at all, i’m running it by a mini pci-e slot and even that does work good, check my last video out, it’s called about bottlenecking i explain there
it bottlenecks in high end cpus. but yea being able to run desktop gpus has been an option for so log...was easier when they had the mini pci ports on the side.. who needs wifi when you could just get a gpu +P

What cpu does it have, if the cpu doesnt have M in it, its not possible. Most post 2014 laptops have soldered cpus on purpose to restrict upgradeability.

KATLEGO CYRUS 16 GB of RAM, if possible an upgraded CPU, if possible an upgraded GPU(like a 1660M or 1050M, or 1650M or something), an SSD, these will produce alot of heat so maybe an Opolar LC-05 external vacuum cooler
I have upgraded my old desktop pc with an lga 1155 motherboard 4gb ram and an pentium g2030, i upgraded the case bought an i7 2600 with an coolermaster masterliquid ml120 rgb cooler, added an extra 4gb of ram an 240gb ssd and last but not least an rx 570 gpu a rgb strip for like €10 and a 500w bequeit psu in total everything cost me around €360, its pretty sexy looking since the case is sleek but still has good cable management some rgb effects and a big window, in my situation this was better than what you did but everyone has different preferences. the price is high because i live in the Netherlands, the only pre owned thing in this build is the cpu. it is performing like a beast even with the newest AAA games i can play at v.high settings at 60fps and lighter games like gta 5,bf 5 and cs it just absolutely crushes. What you did was also awesome btw dont look at this as me flexing im just showing what i did with a shitty old pc😀

@@Gagliano17 I probably will mess something up (Though I have actually successfully done a repaste on an old 2008 unibody MacBook, yeah not much) , apple solders everything, I don't have a heat gun, and for the newer models, the t2 chip doesn't allow any tampering with it. My CPU is technically upgradeable with a heat gun and experience, but it will still thermal throttle, not giving me the full performance of the chip, even with repasting. And for my 2012 MacBook air, it is actually cheaper to get another computer than the parts itself. Also the one I am using currently is a MacBook Pro. Lastly, I do not have the time nor the patience to actually do it.

I was actually thinking of trying to make a laptop, as my school has 3d printers I could use, but unfortunately the math wouldn't work out right using off the shelf components and an x86 single boat computer. It would just be too bulky. Anyways, you got a good deal for those products, and very few computer enthusiasts have the tools and knowledge to carry out such a procedure.
i know im a little late on this but you say that you got this stuff for a laptop because it was cheaper and that buying stuff for a desktop would cost more but all of that stuff you bought would go in a desktop except the ram. you basically bought everything you need to build a desktop (if you count the fact that you've bought 2 replacement motherboards) and you would have probably spent the exact same thing with maybe the exception of a little more or little less on ram depending on what you buy.... i mean with the fact that it is running off of a desktop graphics card and psu at this point it already basically is a desktop just with lower limitations....

@@shawndickerson3109 i had this processor, it has heat issues, 32nm, its slow and goes quickly to thermal throttling. I'm glad he's happy, i was not sold it and bought new 6gen i7. It's so much better and quiet.

A few years ago this channel made me fully upgrade my Hp elite book from 2013 every thing is upgraded on it . Today I'm still using it now and it is still just as fast as the brand new elite book in 2021 Haha . It fells good to recycle thing that will go in the land fill :)

X3MCTZN i mean you can hook up a wifi dongle, they’re faster and tiny, but i used wired internet anyway, but yes i replaced the wifi module for the egpu, you lose performance based on vram usage, if you do low vram stuff you get like 90% but the more vram you use the more bandwidth it takes, i do have game previews using the egpu, check them out
@@Gagliano17 tHanks for the reply yep the pci-e the latency n bandwidth is the problem here as in thunderbolt 3 where it is supposed to deliver over 40gigs it actually is stocked like the tb2 - gues now that we have pci-e 5 and new TB4 is to revealed soon as USB 4 (will be compatible with TB3) things for egpu will become brighter this means, the percentage loss with a highend GPU even on the builtin monitor will be insignificant, thus, Id just buy some laptop with a nice long lasting battery good cpu (hopefully not soldered) and ther I have it ^^ ! Can u recommend some ahm affordable gaming laptops who still uses mxm like clevo or sager (but not sure how I will upgrade the gpu later on as I am still a noob ^^ - my budget is 1500 euro or maybe a bit more - otherwise (I can't find anything of value wise in europe lucky Muricans if u ask me ^^ ) Thanks again !!!

@@X3MCTZN hhm, i've not looked in to laptops lately, so i can't really recommend any, most in europe at the 1500 range are like 1050 ti or 1060 laptops unfortunally, it's not a good time for laptops, they get soldered chips nowadays and are quite limited tbh, companies try the apple thing where they know you have to buy a new one sooner if they limit all sorts of upgrades. it sucks, i switched to a cool desktop since i dont need a laptop anymore for school and stuff. but it's rough, you gotta try to find a good balance, and thunderbolt 3 egpu are very very capeable. they barely have any issues. but they are expensive, the tb egpu enclosures can be really expensive on it self.
You cannot do it casue GPU in laptops are soldered. If you want to change it you need to change the whole motherboard but it will cost a ton o cash cause now CPU,GPU and even ram in some laptops are soldered.

I my self have Thinkpad T430 which I use daily and I can change here everything, from chasis, case, to ram, WIFI, wlan, keybaord, touchpad, add fingerprint scanner, speakers! , ram, I can have 3 ssd, cpu colling, CPU (from i5-3320M to i7-3840QM or i7-3940XM which is crazy cause those CPU's are same performance almost as new ones check out benchmarks + I can modify my bios and Overclock i7-3840QM around 400mhz on each core which is crazy and we get serious CPU performance here), i can even change my screen from 1366x768 till 1920x1080 MOD I heard there is possibility to make 2k screen mod which is insane, in this lapot you cannot change only GPU for this i need to change motherboard to one witch dGPU Nvidia Quadra NVS5200M. This laptop is crazy but i am looking also for battery life and portability so I am looking for T460p now or T480 used, but I think I will wait 1 more year when they will get cheaper so I can get machine with 4cores 8 threads (Intel 8 gen CPU's U series) and decent battery life (10-16h of usage internet, word etc.) and nice light weight machine :D
Oh for gpu he can use alot of the egpu options, i personally used a mini pcie egpu but alot of options out there, even thunderbolt which has 0 bottleneck

If you have Thunderbolt 3 then yes cause this one have like 3% perfomence loss, thunderbolt 2 have around 13%, well it is still better than Exprescard which my thinkpad have or mini pcie which i also have. I did a CPU upgrade on my mom's Del Inspiron 1440 from Pentium T4500 @2.3GHz to Core 2 Duo T9900 @3.06GHz, I needed to change the battery it used to have a 10v battery and having the new T9900 it need move voltage (like overclocking? 😁) So I went to ebay to buy thr same battery model but with slightly higher vlotage @11.2 and it works. It's different beast with the cpu and larger 6MB cache compared to the Pentium's cache at 1MB. Never knew laptop OC can be done but with risk like any other OC. Nice videos bro 😁👌.

I have a 15.6" vevobook that I just unhook and hook up to a external GPU when I get home from school. Its last years I7 with 16gb of ram and a 256gb SSD with a 620 gpu built in and a 1050 for when I get home. Works great and the total set up taxes and all was 1650 Canadian.

the cheapest i could find from all the parts you have, i come to a total of 708 euro in the netherlands, i took a gamble on the ram, and took 1866mhz 16gb which is low. because i run 16gb 2133mhz and took the cheapest of that i could find for 120. i need the 16gb of ram for cemu. still means my setup was much cheaper for nearly the same performance, i still really want a userbenchmark from your setup
Lel, I got G4600 for $90, H110 motherboard for $40 (used), 16gb ddr3 for $80(used), GTX 1050 Ti for 130, add a 450w psu for $40 then I got a PC. It can out perform yours since the CPU is better and no bottleneck even if you game. Sorry to say this, if you have to buy used, buy used PC components, not laptop.

the laptop type is the same, but the specs ain't, if you put 1000 hp in a golf mk1, it's still a golf mk1 i'd say, i think a laptop makes it what it is by it's own limit, the motherboard supports for some reason my 2133mhz 16gigs or ram and the 2760qm (even though it shouldn't), also egpu is also supported so i'd say it's the same laptop but on life support haha, but it's more like a cyborg because it's not "being kept alive" but actually incrases its power to a level it never had :D

oh yeah why put something away when it still can be used, even if i do one day stop using this laptop, i'm still gonna salvage anything i can from it, the 1080p panel will be good as a diy monitor and of every part inside of my upgrades will go towards a future build!, everything can always be used in some way! my only issue with this much power in this old of a laptop was that the cooling was not build for it, it runs 4x 3.2ghz instead 2.6 which made it run at like 93c but i got that sorted too :D so horaay for a succesfull upgrade :D
have you tried undervolting the CPU? i really recommend that to get the best temp possible. maybe even lower the clock speed just a bit can impact the performance. you should do careful research before attempting this though

Michael Street seems like you don’t know what Frankenstein is, this is not about repair. Its about taking bunch of stuff that does not belong together and make it 1 odd creation that still works. this ain't one of those. those use thunderbolt. that are the "regular egpu's" i don't have a thunderbolt port, also i gave the gpu as example. my keyboard is backlit, which i did, my laptop does not come with a backlit keyboard, i've made a grill under the cooler to pull more air together with my external vacuum cooler. i've switched all the colors from white to green on all led's etc etc etc, there is a full list, that make this something it shouldn't be :P it's painted, it has a apple logo that lights up bla bla bla you get the point, btw my n3ds is far more impressive.

@@Gagliano17 When it comes to a high refresh rate or high resolution, you will need an eDP port. if you have LVDS or any proprietary port, you're out of luck. You can try to use an external monitor with the GPU or if you have DP port on your laptop to see if you can achieve a high resolution/refresh rate.
If you can't do any of these things, you can try installing CRU monitor to attempt to overclock your display panel. I had a 2009 Alienware M15X and i overclocked the refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz with minor color defects. I also got 2560x1440 with 29Hz interlaced. So, luck may be on your side.
People like why not get a desktop? Because not everyone like sitting in one spot all the time and maybe people need a laptop on the go and when they get home it's they pc plugging it into a gpu etc. It's they preference not yours.
yeah and i had the laptop already, it was just the best option, ditching the laptop and building a desktop now would have not been smart, the gpu and psu will be good for a future build. i'll build a desktop, but not because i need it more for funs, and for the people that depend on laptops, this video shows what is possible

It May be soldered to the motherboard, but u can probably hook up an external gpu through the WiFi card slot. Then use an ethernet cable.

What cpu does it have, if the cpu doesnt have M in it, its not possible. Most post 2014 laptops have soldered cpus on purpose to restrict upgradeability.
Why you need 16gigs of ram?
cemu emulator uses 16gb with no issue, they did fix that recently so it can work with 8 gb but it used to eat 16 for lunch at the time

KATLEGO CYRUS 16 GB of RAM, if possible an upgraded CPU, if possible an upgraded GPU(like a 1660M or 1050M, or 1650M or something), an SSD, these will produce alot of heat so maybe an Opolar LC-05 external vacuum cooler
I have upgraded my old desktop pc with an lga 1155 motherboard 4gb ram and an pentium g2030, i upgraded the case bought an i7 2600 with an coolermaster masterliquid ml120 rgb cooler, added an extra 4gb of ram an 240gb ssd and last but not least an rx 570 gpu a rgb strip for like €10 and a 500w bequeit psu in total everything cost me around €360, its pretty sexy looking since the case is sleek but still has good cable management some rgb effects and a big window, in my situation this was better than what you did but everyone has different preferences. the price is high because i live in the Netherlands, the only pre owned thing in this build is the cpu. it is performing like a beast even with the newest AAA games i can play at v.high settings at 60fps and lighter games like gta 5,bf 5 and cs it just absolutely crushes. What you did was also awesome btw dont look at this as me flexing im just showing what i did with a shitty old pc😀

@@Gagliano17 I probably will mess something up (Though I have actually successfully done a repaste on an old 2008 unibody MacBook, yeah not much) , apple solders everything, I don't have a heat gun, and for the newer models, the t2 chip doesn't allow any tampering with it. My CPU is technically upgradeable with a heat gun and experience, but it will still thermal throttle, not giving me the full performance of the chip, even with repasting. And for my 2012 MacBook air, it is actually cheaper to get another computer than the parts itself. Also the one I am using currently is a MacBook Pro. Lastly, I do not have the time nor the patience to actually do it.

I was actually thinking of trying to make a laptop, as my school has 3d printers I could use, but unfortunately the math wouldn't work out right using off the shelf components and an x86 single boat computer. It would just be too bulky. Anyways, you got a good deal for those products, and very few computer enthusiasts have the tools and knowledge to carry out such a procedure.

i know im a little late on this but you say that you got this stuff for a laptop because it was cheaper and that buying stuff for a desktop would cost more but all of that stuff you bought would go in a desktop except the ram. you basically bought everything you need to build a desktop (if you count the fact that you've bought 2 replacement motherboards) and you would have probably spent the exact same thing with maybe the exception of a little more or little less on ram depending on what you buy.... i mean with the fact that it is running off of a desktop graphics card and psu at this point it already basically is a desktop just with lower limitations....

I just bought a new hp pavillion 15 and took out the 1tb drive and put in a new samsung 1tb drive. Now jus waiting on my 16 gig vengence ram and my samsung evo 500gb m.2 to come.

You can get connectors that plug into the wifi or thunderbolt 3 port on the laptop that allow you to use external gpus on laptops.

X3MCTZN i mean you can hook up a wifi dongle, they’re faster and tiny, but i used wired internet anyway, but yes i replaced the wifi module for the egpu, you lose performance based on vram usage, if you do low vram stuff you get like 90% but the more vram you use the more bandwidth it takes, i do have game previews using the egpu, check them out

@@X3MCTZN hhm, i've not looked in to laptops lately, so i can't really recommend any, most in europe at the 1500 range are like 1050 ti or 1060 laptops unfortunally, it's not a good time for laptops, they get soldered chips nowadays and are quite limited tbh, companies try the apple thing where they know you have to buy a new one sooner if they limit all sorts of upgrades. it sucks, i switched to a cool desktop since i dont need a laptop anymore for school and stuff. but it's rough, you gotta try to find a good balance, and thunderbolt 3 egpu are very very capeable. they barely have any issues. but they are expensive, the tb egpu enclosures can be really expensive on it self.

You cannot do it casue GPU in laptops are soldered. If you want to change it you need to change the whole motherboard but it will cost a ton o cash cause now CPU,GPU and even ram in some laptops are soldered.

I my self have Thinkpad T430 which I use daily and I can change here everything, from chasis, case, to ram, WIFI, wlan, keybaord, touchpad, add fingerprint scanner, speakers! , ram, I can have 3 ssd, cpu colling, CPU (from i5-3320M to i7-3840QM or i7-3940XM which is crazy cause those CPU's are same performance almost as new ones check out benchmarks + I can modify my bios and Overclock i7-3840QM around 400mhz on each core which is crazy and we get serious CPU performance here), i can even change my screen from 1366x768 till 1920x1080 MOD I heard there is possibility to make 2k screen mod which is insane, in this lapot you cannot change only GPU for this i need to change motherboard to one witch dGPU Nvidia Quadra NVS5200M. This laptop is crazy but i am looking also for battery life and portability so I am looking for T460p now or T480 used, but I think I will wait 1 more year when they will get cheaper so I can get machine with 4cores 8 threads (Intel 8 gen CPU's U series) and decent battery life (10-16h of usage internet, word etc.) and nice light weight machine :D
Oh for gpu he can use alot of the egpu options, i personally used a mini pcie egpu but alot of options out there, even thunderbolt which has 0 bottleneck
@@Gagliano17 He was thinking about GPU in laptop actually :D. And not really about 0 bottleneck. If you have Thunderbolt 3 then yes cause this one have like 3% perfomence loss, thunderbolt 2 have around 13%, well it is still better than Exprescard which my thinkpad have or mini pcie which i also have. But for heavy usage or gaming I have high end PC :)

Cool. I did a CPU upgrade on my mom's Del Inspiron 1440 from Pentium T4500 @2.3GHz to Core 2 Duo T9900 @3.06GHz, I needed to change the battery it used to have a 10v battery and having the new T9900 it need move voltage (like overclocking? 😁) So I went to ebay to buy thr same battery model but with slightly higher vlotage @11.2 and it works. It's different beast with the cpu and larger 6MB cache compared to the Pentium's cache at 1MB. Never knew laptop OC can be done but with risk like any other OC. Nice videos bro 😁👌.

I have a 15.6" vevobook that I just unhook and hook up to a external GPU when I get home from school. Its last years I7 with 16gb of ram and a 256gb SSD with a 620 gpu built in and a 1050 for when I get home. Works great and the total set up taxes and all was 1650 Canadian.

I ve already read that you do not like cases, but you can purchase a Micro ATX case that is smaller than a ps4 and have a portable desktop PC, but its rather interesting to do these mods so i can se why you do this. Good luck
