I have a 60% losing rate to this opening, and it is infuriating. The fact that I continue to get hear my certain variations or off-book moves is making me rethink if I’m actually retarded.
Hey man, there is actually a better response to the Englund gambit players. It kind lf a trap in wich in my experience 100% of Englund gambit players fall. D4-E5 Dxe4 - Kc6 Kf3 - Qd7 Bf4 - Qb4+ Bc2 - Qxb2? (Here they "fell" for the trap) Kc3 - Kb4 Kd4! Protecting C2 and then you expell the queen with rook b1 and the position is like +2, very ugly for black
It’s not just a one trick opening, proper play is to go into a Soller attack which is a reversed Blackmar Diemer. I win over 60 percent of my 5 and 10 minute blitz games with this against 1800 rated players. My approximate strength. Most will be stunned to see the Greek gift appear where they have no response. While they are playing conventional moves.
I appreciate the acknowledgement of how silly this opening is. Whenever I see it, I always wonder what my opponent is doing… same with silly wayward queen openings from white
Although a very safe line, its not the best. Instead of Bf4, Bg5 is typically the choice, and after the queen check, Nc3. If Qxb2 its like +3 and black is completely lost. This line is important to know for the purposes of being well rounded. Look at Naroditsky's video on it. He even provides a well noted pgn file you can throw in chessbase or lichess or whatever to study. As a 1.d4 player I used to get frustrated with the Englund but once I realize how bad it is I no longer worry. The Queen sack line is also very bad for black but white does need to be a bit careful.
This is great. Usually, I deny them immediately with 2.e4, and play the Center Game, if they take, I play it as a reversed Scandinavian, with mixed results, but better than falling into their prep. Thank you.
It seems you've lost track of who's turn it was at 2:27 during the explanation suggesting the move E4. I could be wrong, I'm new at this, but it looks like your move at this point. Just a thought. Everything else I understood and liked that content.
hey john how you doing i just had someone play this line on me and i pulled up your video im glad it was still in my history fresh i just watched it yesterday and i did exactly what you did and i crushed it in 15 movies the only difference he took my knght on f3 and i ended the game with a checkmate he was trying to back rank checkmate me and missed my checkmate your video was right on time thanks
I get 70% advantage playing this Opening. My Fav against Queen's Pawn Opening. I hate when someone plays different Moves. If I don't do Blunders I would have 99% of Matches with this.
after Nxe5 just play Nd5, after Nxf3 recapture. If they rettreat with the queen, get your Queen out to d4, most moves in this line are winning by force if they dont know about Ne7 (5% of people play this move).
the most annoying thing about englund gambit is that you can't premove knight F3 after opening the queen's pawn i literally messed my opening several times in blitz due to premoving Nf3 against this trash gambit
Yo some dude played this against me today and somehow without even knowing the counter attacks to the gambit i managed to stave off and even win a rook.(i even took the bait) goes to show that stop relying on gambits.

Thank you man im so tired of that englund gambit as a london player lol
Glad I can help, lol
You deserve to lose to the englund gambit if you play the London.
@@dheonixx9212 as someone who plays the london i agree
SAMW
@Sam69 Nice, a fellow QG player :). Btw you mean the semi slav?

We is all retarded, mate
How do you know you have a 60% losing rate against this?

K is not for Knight! It's for King! Knight is N.@@francogaray3273
Same for me especially that i like the london system
This was the first of your videos that I have watched, just wanted to say i really enjoyed the content and commentary. well done!
Thank you

great video, I’ve fallen for this a few times and its frustrating
Thanks

Thanks for this simple way to get a better position for white early in the game. Much appreciated!
Good thing I'll be studying the ...d6 line!
Thank you, I got really frustrated because of this opening and now I know how to respond better

"don't worry about the pawn".
finally, someone who gets it.

That's fantastic. Great job on the win!
So…you cheated and won?
wished i watched this video 20 minutes ago
Lol

Great video! Very helpful!
me: wait hes rated 2400 and still plays englund gambit?
Well, in fairness, it was an online blitz game. I am sure they would have played something safer in a classical time control.
Probably just for fun. There is a variation where black sacs the queen which is quite interesting.
Thank you so much with your inputs.
How to you can the gambit when you play Bc5 as black instead of Nc6 and then sack another pawn and a knight and a bishop?

really good video man
Thank you
I just lost to this earlier. Hoping to destroy this gambit from now on. 🤤🤤🤤
Very good presentation John. GPT indicated your vid btw.
Thank you. And interesting to hear about GPT.

What if black plays d6 after dxe5?
Makes total since hanging to an extra pawn to lose the entire game does not make any sense👍
Thank you!
the most annoying thing about englund gambit is that you can't premove knight F3 after opening the queen's pawn i literally messed my opening several times in blitz due to premoving Nf3 against this trash gambit
That's on you for premoving in the opening
why not premove dxe5 and hover over the knight? or just not premove in the opening lil bro
Great info, thank you!
After pawn to E4 what do you do if black plays Queen to B4?
Just play c3 , protects the pawn, blocks the check and your b2 pawn is still protected by your bishop.
A novel method you are suggesting. But lot of care is required in this angle. But very good explanation.
Better to play in to their trick and think on move 4, then counter attack ;)
You're better off with that :)
After seeing this video i am winning every time as white against englund gambit thanks
Yo some dude played this against me today and somehow without even knowing the counter attacks to the gambit i managed to stave off and even win a rook.(i even took the bait) goes to show that stop relying on gambits.
Nicely done!
@@chessdawg thnk you 🥺
Thanks. Just got burned by this trick LoL. No more
You are a very good teacher
Thank you.
You are a lifesaver
Lol, glad I could be of help.
omg~you did insane . see you on my side.
Its move 6 and all the pieces are out
London nightmare
Aman hambleton from chessbrah would disagree with you about this opening 😂
Thanks and God bless!

I'll play bishop f5 instead.
