I was raised Muslim. The first time I stepped foot in a Catholic Church I heard this chant and nearly cried. I’m reminded of that moment every time I start my rosary. Now I’m counting down the days until Easter when I’ll be received into the RCC.

Latin has ingredieble power. I am Christian, but when I discovered Latin Masses it was like I take part in something that touches medieval ages. I just wanted to fall on my knees and cry. Fully adoring God. I understood nothing, but now I can't pray in any other language that Latin. But pope Bergolio want to destroy it...
I also cry when I hear these chants in Latin. They are powerful and reach the depths of one's soul.
I'm a seminarian, and we hear these kind of chants at our Sunday Mass here at my seminary. If by the will of God I am ordained, I will do everything I can to get these chants back into the parishes again. They lift the mind to Heaven.

Simply beautiful. Being an evangelical, it is the enchanting beauty of the latin mass that I miss so much in protestantism. This music, melody and text, brings peace to the heart and makes it long for direct contact with God.

I started attending the Traditional Tridentine Latin Mass about a year ago at my local Catholic parish and I truly love it. I just purchased a 1962 daily Roman Missal with the Mass and scripture readings in Latin and English side by side. I don't miss the Novus Ordo Mass with the rock band style of Christian music, the priest telling jokes during his homily, the chitchatting and laughing going on before and after Mass inside the sanctuary, people in shorts and flip flops, and the haphazard way of receiving Holy Communion. I love the liturgy in the Extraordinary Form with the beautiful pipe organ music, Gregorian chant, the priest's beautiful Roman chasuble and all of the other vestments, incense, and people dressed modestly and respectfully kneeling for Holy Communion. No wonder churches were packed before Vatican II.

As for the Latin Mass that was and still is the most beautiful service and honor to Our Lord.
Latin Mass was always a necessisty as most of the Roman Empire used Latin to communicate, same with Doctors in Israel writing a Rx in Latin.
Most of the Rx training is spent in understanding Latin and doctors handwriting.
But do not put the Catholic faith above any other Christian or Jewish faith.
As for your love and devotion to Our Lord, never ever lose that HE is always here for us, all we have to do is talk with Him, just like a friend, you do not need special prayers or mass just close your eyes and chat. I talk with Him, throughout my work day and I find it great when I am on the train or the bus or in the car to chat with Him.

and always when you have an issue, problem, use WWJD, What Would Jesus Do, and you will find the solution.

There are some left out there. in my country (New Zealand) there are only two churches that hold masses in Latin, as well as English.
I suppose we're lucky here in southeastern Michigan. We have a half dozen churches that hold Mass in Latin at least once a week.

Although the Latin mass is very cool, there are some good things about the Novus Ordo. However, I think we should have a church that does Latin Mass in every diocese.
I probably prefer the Novus Ordo to the Latin Low Mass, though I still the say latter is more reverent. But nothing compares to the Latin High Mass.
I attended a Benedictine and a Cistercian Latin Gregorian Chant Mass. Each one moved me to tears.

When I was sixteen and my brother was fifteen, we were invited to a monastery of Monks at the Eremo of Amparo, somewhere between Rio di Janeiro and San Pablo..., totally isolated and on top of a hill. There were only vineyards as the eyes could see, but nothing else. This Eremo was a "silentia perpetuum monastery" which is a Perpetual Silence Monastery where you could NOT speak AT ALL any time, any place, anywhere... AT ALL! When I say "at all", I truly mean AT ALL!We were there for two whole weeks and..., the peace and relaxation while listening to the Gregorian Chants five or six times a day (before breakfast at 4:30am, at 7:00am, at noon, at 5:30pm and at 900pm) are simply impossible to describe. We truly learned the meaning of peace and galactic contact to God during those few days, even though my brother and I were not truly fond of them. As teen agers, we wanted to see naked girls in Rio, but not being with these Monks!!! My brother and I will NEVER forget those days! Bravo, Monks!
I was born catholic, we converted to born again, I am returning back to being a catholic. I hope for your prayers as i do not have yet the courage to let my family know that i reverted back to being a catholic for more than a year already. Listening to the credo brings me back to the foundations of our faith.

@Paul Goodier If God doesn't exist, then isn't that just a result of natural selection? You seem to assume that these kids have eternal value, yet don't provide a basis for that assumption. Without an ultimate authority, there cannot be value placed on people. If you argue otherwise, then I could just argue that that is your opinion, and I don't have to believe it. The reality is that we live in a sinful and fallen world, and we could all each do our part to outreach to these people in need. That's why the Catholic Church has been known to invent such things as orphanages and hospitals. Charity is something that Jesus taught exceedingly, and it is something that we as Christians are commanded to do. I will admit, as sinful beings, we cannot realize this perfectly. However, Christ has kept the church this long, and He will keep it until He returns.
Another thing to note - I don't see large groups of atheists running to help these children either, so doesn't that make them awful, as well? At least the church has set out to hep those in need, far more than non-believers have for that matter. There are countless ministries that the church has organized throughout the centuries, and they continue to affect the world in a very positive way.

I also am 16 and I am from a Protestant family. I was going to become Orthodox, but now after much thought, study, and prayer, I am going to join a traditionalist Catholic church. The Novus Ordo church where I live is mostly the old, but the Tridentine is mostly young families.

Thanks for reminding me of our original mass,I strayed away from God at age 13,and came back at age 60,I hardly remember how it was back then,mass today lacks the reverence and beauty of former years.
It always amazes me how simple the Credo really is. It has only 4 articles, but it encompasses the faith. It is beautiful in it's simplcity and clarity.

As a practicing atheist, I find the Latin Mass and the full Roman liturgy to be one of the most beautiful and uplifting things on earth. Beauty can be of itself and for itself but if you choose to direct it towards a perceived God, then may you be very happy.

'The Creed'. This is our faith, that is our belief. We are standing on the Rock of salvation. Everytime I profess 'The Creed', there's always something refreshing, awesome and fulfilling going through my heart and it gives me every reason to thank God for the redemption of my soul. I thank the Lord for the leaders of the church that put this profession together for us to stand firm to profess it even in the face of tribulation and trial. The Holy Mass is the greatest prayer and I appreciate the privilege to be in communion with God and one another in the celebration of the Holy Mass. I always experience the power of God when I profess 'The Creed'. Thanks for sharing👏.

Yes, it's lovely, but I much prefer such texts in a language I understand, instead of an extinct language like Latin. But that's just me.
Why not looking at it this way : The latin mass used in the past was universal, in any country one had the missal with the latin text printed left and the language of the country printed right. When in France, Germany or Argentina we could all participate in latin and know what was going on.

I learned this when I was 3 and a half years old, in plenty of time for starting school at 4. Nothing more soothing than the Latin Sung Mass.

I noticed the upsurge in learning Latin in recent years in the Catholic Church. God is restoring His Church not even a pope can stop it. Sadly, our diocese in Orlando doesn’t have Latin Mass. But if there was one I’d be one of the first to attend. That is how I am drawn to the Traditions of the Catholic Church! In the meantime, learning Latin is a wonderful experience. The devil must have hated this language. But our Lord is restoring it in His Catholic Church.

The use of Latin for liturgical functions depends on the goodwill of the parish priest.
Certainly the use of the vernacular is predominant, however, especially on certain occasions, we often use Latin.
We also sing some songs (Missa de Angelis, Adoro te Devote, Pange lingua, Adeste Fidelis, Anima Christi, Regina Coeli, Te Deum, Salve Regina, etc.) during masses in Italian.
The diffusion is entrusted to the goodwill of the priest and the choir singers.
There has never been a "ban".
Everything depends on the faithful of good will.
This is an encouragement for Latin to be used in your Church as well.

I am truly nostalgic about the Latin hymns. I regularly attended Mass at St. Jòseph's Parish in Maracha said in Latin from 1957 to 1962. Then I was also altar servant answering the Priest's (celebrant) prayers in Latin. Thereafter I went to Sts Peter and Paul seminary in Pokea where I studied Latin and continued to pray and attend Latin Mass. Very beautiful. It touches the soul. It is angelic. It is universal.

Very beautiful, I attended a High Pontifical Mass today at St Johns Cathedral Norwich Norfolk and it was all in Latin and though very lovely I did not have the English translation with me of The Creed, and I would have appreciated this very much !!!
