My man.. Thank you for taking the time to explain this to us common folks. I have an 09 and I got the dreaded code about a year ago. Time to find a turner here in San Antonio lol. Thanks brother
@@rm3-f8k yeah i was getting that same code. Disconnected my battery and plugged it back in after 3 mins and the code ended up going away. it’s only been a day though so hopefully it doesn’t come back.
I've listed a link to this video on the Corvette Forum as I am having the fuel gauge issue. One forum member says I will STILL Need to drop the tanks and I said the premise of the whole video is that it can ALL BE FIXED VIA HP TUNERS........who's right. The member referrenced the 1:30 to 2:30 mark on the video. I think this video is awesome and other forum members have watched it and commented as well. Im hoping I can find a HP Tuner close to Tucson AZ that can watch this and perform the fix WITHOUT dropping the tanks. Thanks
You can absolutely do this all through HP tuneres. The only thing is if you have a wiring issue or a siphoning issue. The computer only cares that the passenger tank is drained first. You can not change that. I bet you can disable the code. The table are just that. They tell the pc what values to output to the gauge cluster. I did this years ago and it works perfect to this day.
Not clear if need to drop tanks. Can this procedure be done on a ( 2000 C5 T-56 COUPE? NO MENTIONING IN UR VID ABOUT THE c5's.) @@TheLifeofaMan HELP!!!!
Great video!!! I have a C6 with P2068 etc. I hate to waste $$$, so before I buy the software, I also would like to know where to find : 1.) Where to "Turn off the Secondary Sensor (B)"?????? 2. How to "Disable Trouble Codes for it.?????? Maybe once I get the software it is obvious how to solve those 2 issues. I think another viewer had about this same question. Thank you, Tommy
when you deleted the internal tank lines.... did you do anything to the driver side module where the internal tank line plugs into the top part ? I believe it is where the fuel pump feeds a little bit of fuel to the passenger tank to run the siphon .
I used the Lingenfelter block offs for the regulators. That was the only mod in the tank for the early fuel system. IN the end I ripped it all out and did a completely customer fuel system. The factory system is so stupid on these cars.
This only works if passenger side sensor is bad and driver side still works. In the reverse you are hosed. The PCM uses the driver side as the level with the passenger side as an indicator of what volume is in there, but you can combine the 2 table for the driver side and the PCM is none the wiser. It does not work the other way round.
So my question is since the 07+ sensors read in reverse to this video .71v would be "full" on 07+ would you just filp the fuel volume values to work properly?
I am not an expert, but properly one code is triggering the other. If you have hptuners give it a shot. If it does not work for you put it back the way it was. So save your original tune file.
This advice for a 2006 C6 only correct? Maybe 2005 as well but not 2007 on. Thank you for the hard work! But it's not right advice for C6 2007 because I believe the sensor voltage is "OPPOSITE" in in the 2007 and up, each tank will read .71 full and near 2.50 when EMPTY. In your illustration, yours is reading 2.40 "full" but on 2007 it reads that on "empty." The sensors on 2005 and 2006 had voltage/ohms reversed from the 2007 and on fuel sensors, because GM was trying to take into consideration sulphur deposits were creating reading issues, and it was felt safer to reverse ohm/voltage on fuel sensors, less likely to run out of gas due to bad reading. At least that was their theory I believe.
@@TheLifeofaMan First, I want to say your video was brilliant and deeply appreciated. I have linked you to a Corvette C6 group as an example and praised you there to give clues" how to fix this too common problem. I could also send you a 2007 HPtuner tune, and you could look at the "stock" Fuel Values for the 2007. They are reverse from 2006 and 2005. The reason I'm into this problem, is that we got from a GM Dealer, and from the correct Gm Box...a wrong fuel sensor. The box is a stock 2007 Sensor A but the actual sensor, reads like a 2006. The only thing we can figure is, they put the wrong one in the box from the factory, or someone 'returned" the wrong sensor in a different box and they GM parts store sold it to us as new not knowing someone swapped sensors in the box. So my dilemma is, I have a 2007 Sensor B and a 2005/2006 Sensor A which of course makes completely wacky readings!
@@markbradford2245 I just checked my tune in and you can change the axis so in theory you can just reverse the numbers in the axis and leave the volume values the same.
@@TheLifeofaMan My 2007 C6 will likely continue to be a bit wacky, because I've got a 2006 Sensor A and a 2007 Sensor B, so one is full at 2.53 volts, the other is full at .71 volts. So I get the idea of reversing the axis, on one side, I'm experimenting with that now. So i've put 2006 volumes in Sensor A and 2007 volumes in Sensor B and then just am reading my voltages with HPtuner as it goes down in gas and then tweaking it. If worse comes to worse, i might try to deactivate Sensor B and just use Sensor A. But your video opened the door to understanding how to begin to tweak those things and for that we Corvette owners should be immensely grateful to you for your research. You've got a friend and fan here in Missouri ;)
Does this mod work even if you don't connect the tanks together from the bottom as you did?
