Awesome man, keep rockin. Also, with that bright reflector on your chest, it looks like you're wearing iron man's pajamas : ) Ha just kidding, love the videos, and sweet boat!!
Thanks, now the damn song is stuck in my head. 😂 You flew across the banks! Happy the winds held in there for longer than predicted. Keep the vids coming!
Man I am loving your new boat! I would love to hear more about it. Why you decided to get it? What advantages (and disadvantages) it has over Song of Wind? What changes/upgrades you plan to make to it? What was the process of buying it like? As someone who has never owned a sailboat but is contemplating getting one someday I would really appreciate some of your learnings. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us! Fair winds!
I probably won’t make a video on it anytime soon, pretty much just post the sailing aspect but here you go! -Bought the the Cape dory for a great deal to fix and flip -Advantages:bigger, roomier, full galley and head, rides the seas better -Disadvantages: more complex systems, harder to handle, harder to singlehanded, more electronics -so far I’ve added the hydrovane, dyneema lifelines, solar arch, lithium batteries (off SOW) and a lot of other routine maintenance. -Plan to install self tailing winches a friend gave me to make singlehanding easier. Would also like to build a hard dodger. Potentially move the main traveler up to the cabin top so I could connect the arch and dodger to enclose the cockpit. All for when I have the money and am in the right place. -I bought it in Ft. Pierce and brought it through the okeechobee waterway. Untested engine, hadn’t even looked at the sails, just hoping for the best. It was an awesome 8 day trip with my friend Lance. Probably wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t for him. Engine kept dying, batteries wouldn’t charge, ran aground hard 3 times (for multiple hours each time). It was a… journey I appreciate you following along and hope our wakes cross at some point 🤙
Did you keep the song of wind boat name? We just read your aquamaps reviews for Thompson Bay and are anchored here for the night. Saw what looks like a Cape Dory here but it has a dodger, should we be buying you a beer tomorrow?
I’m up in highborne right now and headed down to Georgetown in a couple days. The new boat is named Nonamé. I’ll be back in Thompson bay probably first week of march before taking off to the Raggeds. Hope to cross paths somewhere along the way! What’s your boat name and what direction are you headed?? While you’re in Thompson bay, the bar right up from the dinghy dock “Sou-side” Tyrone who runs the spot and his family are amazing folk!
outboard in the galley. love it! a million ways to sail, and new ones invented every day
Thanks James 🤙
Tough sailing at night alone. Great job.
It can be hard to stay awake sometimes that’s for sure, thanks!
