One thing I'm not too good at is tactics, I usually face the enemy head on, and your videos really help with forming a good base for me to better my own tactics so I really appreciate what you're doing, thanks.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Couple of questions if you don't mind to answer: You using Very Hard A.I. on this video? What screen resolution you using for ETW? You using ultra or high unit sizes? Thanks again. Eagerly waiting for more videos of this quality!
your forces have to be stationary in a spot for 2-3 turns on open field, then they are "entrenched" so you can place those defenses as well. You will see a ring of stakes around your army on the campaign map when you can do this.
I always make my tactics simple. I always put a line infantry at the center, always try to find a hill to put my cannons and always back them up with 1/2 reliable infantry and always mass cavalry at one of the flanks and wait for the enemy and let everything go. Canons and guns wait and cavalry mass charge at the flank.I then charge with all my men.Works every time. :) Please tell me what you think of this one ok?(I know that this isnt a beautiful tactic against a cavalry force) nice video man
yes I like to do this when I see that they have much more Inf. than cavalry. and I like to do a mix of defensive and offensive playstyle. keep doing these vids man you are awesome
he isnt doing this for a challenge, he is doing it to show us battle tactics. if he doesnt play a cpu the other player might do something to mess his tactic up.
Try placing direct-fire batteries in a loose V with your Indirect Batteries behind, essentially go for a cross fire with your Canister so your guns can hold off light cav and skirmishers who can be used to force your arty to retreat/reposition or otherwise cease fire.
You should find two high points and trap them in a crossfire, from there you can have cavalry around it, i choose cavalry because if you have the cannons battering them with a volley in the beginning, you can get to them quick (not through the woods of course) and finish them. The best defense is offense
how do I defend a fort effectively ? what I learned from defence in forts, is that the number of soldiers is what counts. While defending things like direct fire cannons and mortars won't do you any good, especially when the enemy in on your walls. The number of soldiers is the deciding factor, simply because on the walls you go melee berserk on your enemy, as so they do. Attacking force can use cannons to bring walls down and cavalry to flank inf. on ground, this is why its easier to attack..
I don't really think that's the way for you to go. To sacrify your pikemen like that? I can think of 5 better ways they could be used and you wouldn't end up with 2 units shattered and 1 more about to.
defending a star fort :) its easy keep arty on the walls and infantry to block the streets hide your cav behinde the inside of the gate and wait for the enemy to charge through and you can hit them hard with your cav as soon as your cav have retreated the enemy will look for ways to enter to the middle where your gen staff should be defend the strrets with your inf :)
I was wondering... the way he positions his line infantry at the beginning, his second infantry line would also start musket fire and the first line would take freindly fire no?
Pretty easy to defend against cavalry when you have 4 units of pikemen. No idea why you used a meat shield tactic. When you can use the land better. Number one rule of tactics is use your surroundings to their best.
I've never noticed canister shot hitting my own men and sometimes I blast it right into the enemy during a Melee charge at my line infantry and never have seen my unit number go down or had men retreat during it am I just missing this or does it not hurt your own troops?
I find in the campain those kinds of tactics hurt my overall progress. Its really expensive to retrain troops and to recruit them. Like it can take many turns to train a good army sometimes
ooohhh pretty incendiary round.... You have some great tactics here ill tell you that. But i much prefer the old fashioned way of smashing through the center with infantry, rout them and slaughter them. Though, this method has many, many flaws.
I usually deploy the following formation: 1 General's Bodyguard, 2 Heavy Cavalry, 2 Dragoons, 1 Horse Artillery, 2 Foot Artillery, 2 Howitzers, 8 Line Infantry, and Light Infantry/Riflemen.
@cragyypoo It isn't really that tough. Keep your infantry well supported. Keep flanks secure. Use your cavalry to flank their infantry or to destroy their artillery.
i don't want to say this but you are pretty bad player. you are wasting too many soldiers. and you strategy tactics are weak. sorry man i just found 11 mistakes that you made on this battle. i am really sorry.

Good tactics. One question though. Did you end up hitting any of ur own pikes with ur own misile troops?
i quite like his defence line at the beginning. pretty impressive

Cool tactics vid mate..i will make use of this tactic for sure.
It is, you're quite right.
I just like to pick at things, he still is a good tactician, I must admit.

that first formation you had looked pretty awesome =)
Excellent video
yes, but there were more inactive units than in battle. making a defensive line smaller would be better. imho.
quick question, why didn't you order your pikemen to melee the infantry?

at 25 ish when you're using your pikemen as a meat shield why not have them charge or are you worried about cave at this point

There's fire by rank technology
By Expert AI do you mean very hard battle difficulty?
infantry can shoot trough their on pikeman ?
i didnt know that where can i this information? because this is not explained in the tutorials

I've thought about it maybe doing friendly fire but it never seems to kill my own men only the enemy
What is the cost comparison between pike men and line infantry.

is it a weird step over from rome to empire?
is this battle in the early period??
Thanks a lot man,i will try it,but game crash a lot in Hard campaing settings.
aren't both of them different? POM plays Mplayer, he plays Splayer.
ooohhh pretty incendiary round.... You have some great tactics here ill tell you that. But i much prefer the old fashioned way of smashing through the center with infantry, rout them and slaughter them. Though, this method has many, many flaws.
when i first bought the game and saw him i thought he was beast.but now i got more experienced nowi realize how basic his tactics are
how you do "fired by ranks"?in my game i try everything but not good.
I would've placed my pikeman on the flanks to defend cavalry charges.
I think we can all take advice from a guy who chooses Incendinary ammunition because it looks pretty.
can you do grenaiders tactic vid please?
Are guards, Line infantry?
Okay thanks ^^
What army are u playing as?
Question whatratio of line infantry to cavalry to artillery to light infantry would say is the most balanced for land battle non siege?
I usually deploy the following formation: 1 General's Bodyguard, 2 Heavy Cavalry, 2 Dragoons, 1 Horse Artillery, 2 Foot Artillery, 2 Howitzers, 8 Line Infantry, and Light Infantry/Riflemen.
* 2 Light/Rifle
Nice tutorial videos
What difficulty was this on?
i try'd this and i won thank you
square formation??

Spartans had guns?
Im downloading the demo right now.
And does somebody know if my pc can handle the demo if it will be the same with the actual game?
Or u could just moved ur missiles forward or the pikes back. but idk.
bullets go through most shields.
I love you
No, gaurds are like Elite infantry, they're like Line infantry only better.
formation too dispersive... many units are inactive during the battle!
you hit some of your own p ikemen in the back but its ok pikemen are meatshield anyway.
Probably
damn
oops lol why did i ask that really dumb question...i didn't watch the vid yet when i posted -.-
pikemen are disgusting in this game, i put a pike wall down and had a computer charge calvary in it they lost 1 horse i lost 10 men?
Sweden own:D
this game is kinda hard.......proly cause im only 14 :D
lol nice camping :P
