WW2. Japan got bored and decided to attack its neighbors and also stepped on a Lions tail (referring to Pearl Harbor which then America declared war on Japan for attacking the US naval base stationed in Pearl Harbt), so yeah.
Actualy the curent indonesian flag was originated from kediri flag and you can find the flag carved on borobudur temple relief. The reason why indonesian flag (Sang Saka Merah Putih) were asociated with majapahit because indonesian independent movement are the realization of Gajah Mada's Palapa Oath to unite all nusantara under one flag. Although not all nusantara became indonesian teritory, but the curent indonesia is so close to the realisation of that oath. The founder of majapahit, Raden Wijaya is the grandson of the latest king of Kediri. His ambition was tor revive kingdom of kediri. Because of this, when majapahit first born as a kingdom in eastern half of java, Raden Wijaya using his old kingdom flag as the flag of majapahit. When majapahit started it's expansionism, they using kediri flag stacked as majapahit imperial flag, while the old kediri flag used as the flag of majapahit main teritory and now being used as Indonesian National Flag, while majapahit imperial flag used as Indonesian Naval Jack.

Vietnam's flag is so fucking ugly. South Vietnam's flag is much better. The flag of Vietnam should still be South Vietnam's. South Vietnam is the only real Vietnam.
But those flags represents those various petty kingdoms across of the archipelago. Not united as one, so no ancient official flag uniting the islands and its people in one banner.
before Spanish comes there are the sulu kingdom, tondo kingdom cabaloan, maguindanao and others having different flags but this video shows flag in 18th to 21st century which after the Spanish had most of the land already.
It's important to note stuffs for this video. First, it starts at 1802. By that time, majority, though not all, of the present-day Philippine's land is governed by Spain based on Manila. And another thing to point out is that pre-colonial Philippines' tribes are not united. Basically, the Philippines; as a whole, only really started to exist when Spain "united" us (forcefully though xD)
Filipinos: The Americans had freed us Americans: Oh I wouldn't say freed. More like, under new management. Filipinos: The Japanese had...."freed".... us? Japanese: Oh I wouldn't say freed. More like, under new management. Filipinos: MacArthur had freed us MacArthur: Oh, I still wouldn't say freed. More like under new management. And the cycle continues..
the Americans didn't freed us. they are credit grabbers. we are already defeating the Spanish empire but the americans took that opportunity when the empire is pushing back to manila(capital) and then the Americans came to make a deal to surrender not from the pilipinos but to Us(americans) and thats how they stole our victory to the spanish

0:33 i really like this flag from Thailand..it looks so simple yet majestic. elephant flag was more better than their current one.
Changing the flag into form of simplest graphic or color code are much easier recognized by mass than an animal symbol. It's the correct way to move, I assure.
I think the current flag with a blue circle and the elephant in the center is the best.

WW2. Japan got bored and decided to attack its neighbors and also stepped on a Lions tail (referring to Pearl Harbor which then America declared war on Japan for attacking the US naval base stationed in Pearl Harbt), so yeah.

Malaysia wasn't one entity before 1963. Different sultanete and colony use different flag.
When majapahit started it's expansionism, they using kediri flag stacked as majapahit imperial flag, while the old kediri flag used as the flag of majapahit main teritory and now being used as Indonesian National Flag, while majapahit imperial flag used as Indonesian Naval Jack.
borobudur was built in 8th century, kediri is in 13th century...

Ngl, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam has the best designs in my opinion
Why?
Vietnam's flag is so fucking ugly. South Vietnam's flag is much better. The flag of Vietnam should still be South Vietnam's. South Vietnam is the only real Vietnam.
This is so relaxing

As A Filipino we have many flags before the pre colonization
Basically, the Philippines; as a whole, only really started to exist when Spain "united" us (forcefully though xD)
yes, but pre-colonization is like 1560
Filipinos: The Americans had freed us
Americans: Oh I wouldn't say freed. More like, under new management.
Filipinos: The Japanese had...."freed".... us?
Japanese: Oh I wouldn't say freed. More like, under new management.
Filipinos: MacArthur had freed us
MacArthur: Oh, I still wouldn't say freed. More like under new management.
And the cycle continues..
Ironically thay Filipinos wanted for US statehood.
the Americans didn't freed us. they are credit grabbers. we are already defeating the Spanish empire but the americans took that opportunity when the empire is pushing back to manila(capital) and then the Americans came to make a deal to surrender not from the pilipinos but to Us(americans) and thats how they stole our victory to the spanish
