@@killcake4 Lmao I'd completely forgot about this comment/didn't even remember leaving it, but to be fair to myself it was over 7 years ago and I was probably 14 at the time. I'm happy to say that this story did have a happy ending. I bought it maybe 2 years after leaving this comment and have worn it nearly every day since. I like it just as much as the day I bought it, it still keeps time to within a couple seconds a day. Overall it's the best purchase of my life
Thank you! That was very helpfull since I wasnt sure how to change the date - now it is clear it has to be done with the timezoneadjustment of the hourhand and cant be done seperatly

I bought a new Seamaster Planet Ocean this year (2020) and these instructions for time/date adjustments are not the same. In fact, you could easily brake your watch by using these old instructions. There is a manual in the box you should follow if you're insecure how to adjust the settings!
I own two Omega seamaster(42 & 45mm}, both are 8500 caliber. 600m depth. used daily by my son is the 42mm and the 45mm for myself which works well. Functionality, time keeping, love this watch.
I have been enjoying this piece for the last year, having upgraded from the 300m SM which I also loved but was getting board with. I am also a Rolex collector and can attest to the quality and fit and finish of this watch being on par or above much of their competition. If you're in to dive pieces, a SM is a must in your collection. I know there is a chrono version also available however I feel a chrono complication doesn't belong on an iconic dive watch such as this. If you're in to chrono's stick with the Speedy. But either way you go you will be happy with Omega.

If you use the "date set" option too much, it will have issues... The 8800 movement has a quick date set option...
