You will need to back hack to set the seconds. Set the time as you like moving the hands clockwise and stop. Apply light pressure to the crown in the anti clockwise direction to stop and move the second hand. Release the pressure when you are where you want to be, and you are synchronized down to the second. For ease, I set the minute hand to the upcoming minute, and goose the second hand to the top, releasing the crown at the top of the minute, then pushing it back to position one.

Any idea why my 3861 sometimes jams and stops the movement? Yes, it is fully wind, it cannot go anymore, I can feel the resistance after nearly 60 turns. It's really unsettling and annoying.

@@Loun96 After reading many places, I realized that mechanical watch isn’t meant to be atomic accuracy so probably no point to sync exact seconds. Event you do sync with atomic second, it will be out of sync in a day very quickly. I also figured it is more important to find the right number of winding everyday to have the watch stay as accurate as possible.

I just got the speedmaster with the 1861 cal. This is the worst movement I ever seen in any watch. It runs +10 seconds fast if not more. That's just horrible
you do realize this movement was created in the 50s and suffered only minor changes, remaining for all practical purposes unchanged. For that period a 10 sec difference was not that bad. I hope you do not compare it to quartz rubbish, which does however have the advantage of not going faster or slower.
I am going to visit this video again in 3 years when i buy myself one as a gift to myself.

How to synchronize the time? Seems if I pull the crown to 2nd position, the second hand keeps moving and doesn’t stop.
i think its normal, i have the same issue. does your second hand turns back as well when you pull the crown counter-clockwise?
