Loved this video! Super informative and included qualities of frames most people don't consider in reviews . Too many reviews are purely based on specs that anyone can read off of a site ...
Finally bout to get my Briffidi SW machine this week, so i can measure SW, but also TW at home Also...I got too curious with all your vids, so i finally put in a demo for the Aero VS , and retrying the Extreme Tour, which also makes me want to buy the SX Tour since i can't demo it
SX Tour 2022 version was the worst purchase to date. It is the most muted yet stuff racquet I have ever played with. I couldn't feel the ball and it hurt my wrist. lose-lose. It's actually a huge fail on Dunlop. On the FX500 Tour is a really great racquet.
I’ve been watching tennis racquet comparison videos for a few yrs now and have NEVER heard the term “twist rate”. Thanks for explaining it. I believe it should be advertised with all the other racquet specs as its a valuable thing to know. As the owner of a 2017 model Pure Aero VS I can agree with all you said about it. Not sure thou whether I would prefer it to the Head Extreme. I would surely like to demo one though. Thank u
Hi!...late to the party here, but since the new extreme came out, I was thinking to choose between the new one and the babolat pure Aero....seems the extreme is a little more customizable? Have you tried the extreme with the swing weight of the babolat?...that compromise in power is what put me off, but I have always preferred head frames than babolat....(ironically, I always felt babolat frames too flexible...but seems in this case it is the opposite)
Yeah. I just hit the new Extreme Pro and have been hitting the Aero 98 extensively. IMO they are almost not even that comparable. The Extreme Pro is a pure player's racquet, lots of control and feel, low power and below average stability. The spin is good, but only because it lets you modulate spin well, in other words, it let's you swing with a ton of spin if you want or flatten it out. There's nothing for free with the Extreme Pro. The PA 98 has way more for free. Free spin on every shot. Free power. Way more stability. Much less feel and control. Less variability in every swing.
Hi. I’ve used the pure aero but find it stiff and it hurts my elbow. Is it different with the vs? Also I used the extreme tour and was planning to buy one. I’m in a dilemma. I adjust well to the aero design. Because of my technique but I like also the head feel. Maybe I’ll have to play with both fue sine tube ti decide. Also, what do you think of using signum pro firestorm string with these rackets?
I love FIrestorm, one of my faves in the Extreme Tour. PA VS will still give you troubles if the PA does. Extreme Tour + VT Advantec grip and 2 strips should be comfortable enough.
Hello good video with a lot of info as usual 👌🏼 I demoed the extreme tour with lynx tour on main 1.25 and prince synthetic gut nylon durables on the cross 1.35. Tensions was about 25 kg Do you recommend to put a litlle bit of lead tape to get a litlle bit more power ? Or maybe try a bull bed of lynx tour with a litlle bit less tension? What is your tension on your raquet ? Thx in advance for your coments and congrats for your channel 🎾💪🏼😎
Thanks for the kind words Etienne! I recommend putting a few grams of lead at 12 o clock to bump up the swingweight for put away power. I string with Volkl Cyclone at 52lbs, but if I would using Lynx Tour in a full bed I would go 50lbs or 22.5 kg.
Hello. I've been playing with an aero VS (I ended up abandoning my VCore 98). It's fantastic. I like everything. I'm loving her, but unfortunately it's kind of sadomasochistic love for my elbow (😁). My elbow started to hurt and I never had pain with my previous one (VCore 98). Do you think the current Extreme Tour is very similar "in practice" to aero VS? Is it less permissive than VS? It seems that a partner of yours said this in another review on your channel, when he complains that outside the sweet spot the ET ball comes out very strange. I had the same problem with the VCore 98. Do you think it would be a good change to leave the VS (because of the elbow) and go to the ET? If so, what kind of customization do you recommend to solve this problem your colleague said about hitting outside the sweet spot and the ball getting really bad? I would really like to find a racket that gives me the same performance as the VS but without the pain
The PAVS is way more powerful and forgiving off centre compared to the ET and ET Auxetic. You’d need to string looser and add weight at 3 and 9 to get similar results. I would look at the Radical MP before the ET. Also, new Radical MP and Pure Aero 98 in January if you can wait. If the PA98 follows the 2023 PA, it should be more comfortable. I’d even say the 2023 PA is worth considering. Control is much improved from the previous gen.
@@TennCom I saw this on a website: "Compared to the Pure Aero VS it replaced, the 98 has flax fibers at 3 and 9 o'clock - but not in the cable like the standard Pure Aero - and a little lower for better control." It's worth waiting until January.
Hello love your reviews!! Would you recommend switching from head extreme MP(previous version) to the new latest one ? Would go for head extreme tour now. But is it worth it? Or SOME customization could do? Thank you for an answer
How does the twist weight of the new Ezone 98 compare with the 14.3 and 14.6 of these two racquets. 14.3 vs 14.6 doesn't sound like that big a difference, but I'm not familiar with the scale that is measured on.
I play with Head Speed Pro now (great stick but I without access to an explosive power and spin) and want to choose between the Head Extreme Tour and Babolat Aero VS now. Head Speed Pro is quite easy to swing with
The Aero VS is slower through the air than the Extreme Tour and the EZone 98 in my opinion, but based on what you are looking for, I think you'll like it the most. It's a lot more stable than the Speed Pro and gives you a lot more put away power than the Extreme or the EZone. The Aero VS isn't slow or unwieldy at all, it's just the least maneuverable of some of the fastest sticks on the market.
String pattern doesn’t change my power rating. It shouldn’t really have a big impact on heaviness of the ball you hit unless there’s a psychological impact on your game. Different patterns won’t result in an change in ball speed, which is what I call power. 16x19 will give you easier access to depth, which may be perceived as power by the user. On the other hand, maybe the lower launch angle makes you hit harder so you might perceive the 18x20 to have more power. Or maybe 18x20 has more mass in the head because there’s more strings, meaning higher swingweight and more power. For control, or predictability of the string bed, I would say Extreme Tour > Strike 18 x 20 > aero VS > strike 16x19
@@TennCom really nice explanation. I was thinking, then the 18x20 should be more predictable and lower launch angle, but also a bit less trampoline, so less ball speed
The reading I’ve done in tennis warehouse university and when I studied for the USRSA Master Racquet Technician test say they there’s nothing conclusive about string pattern and ball speed. I think that the 18x20 strike is trending a slightly higher avg sw but who knows due to QC anyway. I think the Aero is the best all around racquet if the bunch anyway and we are getting a new one (Pure Aero 98) in January too
You need to check out the Regna 98 if you look at the TW racquet comparison tool the regna 98 and the Extreme Tour are almost an identical racquet but very few differences. At least according to TW U Regna has a lower twistweight (14 vs 14.3) slight more power 41 vs 40 and bigger sweetzone 17 vs 16.. You might actually fall in love with a Regna if you like the Extreme Tour, that is if you are able to find one..
I have them both and they are strung with hyper-g at 23kg - the VS is stiffer works better on my semi-western forehand and has better control on most shots while the extreme tour is much plusher has a lower lunch angle and works better for my one handed backhand..but also has more power. Maybe mine has a higher swingweight but it definitely has more pop than the babolat.
It been a long time since I last hit with the APD 2013, but I did use it for 5 years from 2013 to 2018. I would think of the Extreme Tour as a control oriented version of the 2013 APD. Less free power, but better feel and control.
I am trying out the VS tonight. Great insight and curious how I will like it compared to the extreme tour which is my favorite racket I have demoed so far
@@TennCom I tried the VS tonight and although I liked it better than the original Pure aero it was still to unstable for me. I also tried the prestige mp but that was a bit sluggish. @@TennCom thanks for the suggestion on the radical it was a great racket and for me was better than the extreme. It does need a little more weight that the extreme had but I will probably go with that. It was super close though I liked both
No need, they are so different, higher sw, less manoeuvrability, equal feel, you got more pop on flat shots with the tf and at serve. I own the extreme tour and tf40 16x19 305 at the very same weight (304g), I clearly prefer the feeling of the head, the slice to, the tf40 is a bit less manoeuvrable, has the same pace, the same stringbed, ra is lower but it doesn't feel so. Also the head ET has a bigger sweetspot but the Tf40 is just gorgeous.

I'm torn between the new Yonex Ezone 98 and the Ezone 100. I'm currently playing with an older version of the Head Speed Pro 18x20 (11.8 oz, 9 pt HL), which has great control and feel but I'm considering a 16/19 for the higher launch angle and a bit more spin. Possible considerations include the Head Extreme Tour and the new Speed MP and either the new Yonex 98 or 100. Of note, maneuverability and control are important racket characteristics and I do plan to customize. Thanks.
Thanks Nicole! I think that the Speed Pro is actually a little more forgiving that the Extreme Tour and the newest EZONE 98. That said, I worry the EZONE 100 is going to be too much of an increase in power. I would recommend the Gravity MP or the Radical MP. These both feel quite solid and stable for their weight, offer a slightly higher launch angle that blends control nicely. They both also offer more power than the EZONE 98 or the Extreme Tour on off centre shots. The low weight also leaves a LOT of room for customization which I really like.
