I have a steel trailer with threaded bolts that come up through some of the steel - I’d like to refinish it, but I don’t know if I can get completely flush with a cutting disc, and I don’t know if a grinding disc will fail if the edge grinds against a bolt.

Which disc/s would be best for that and ... im kind of ashamed to say this but also which is the cheapest disc to use . ( i am dirt poor so a $20 disc would be impossible ) . i just bought a $14 angle grinder from Harbour freight and some cutting discs to remove the top of a 55 gallon drum to make a burn barrel . now i want to use it in some way to have some fun . thanks for the video . i learned a lot !!

    Can you tell about the discs for grinding (not cutting) steel and stainless steel !
    I mean what's the difference between the two?
    And many viewers r concerned about the safety precautions n use of guard!
    I think it depends on user n his/her level of expertise n knowledge, like hand's firm grip on grinder, angle of holding towards the working object n worker's body position, the size n material of the disc, n your attention n focus on your work, to be mindful to make no mistake but still it varies person to person so I think masters always work differently.
    Have a good day.

    • @imperialsecuritybureau6037
      @imperialsecuritybureau6037 Год назад +1

      The grinding and cutting discs for steel have different thicknesses and pressure points. Cutting discs are about 1mm thick on the whole, compared to about 3.5mm for grinding discs. The grinding discs are thick and made different so you can put pressure on their face, allowing grinding of edges and corners with a flat grinding surface, while cutting discs should only get pressure on their outer edges, while cutting. Because they’re much thinner, use them like grinding discs and there’s a good risk that they will break eventually. Shards of grinding disc can cause some horrible injuries as you can imagine.

      When one of those wheels explodes/fragments, it doesn’t discriminate about the operator’s skill level and knowledge. Do a search for “angle grinder accidents”.
      Some discs are made of metal with a Diamond edge. These cut slower but last a very long time and are a lot safer than the typical cutting wheel, which is often infused with aluminum oxide.

      ( for aggressive grinding of metal)

    • @soundman6645
      @soundman6645 Год назад +1

      That depends on how much material you need to remove.
      For removing a lot of material a grinding disc will be best.
      For dressing welds or removing weld spatter, sharp edges, mill scale and the like a flap disk is great.
      Flap discs are getting very popular in the metal fab business, a coarse flap disc will remove quite a lot of material.
      A lot of things we would have done in the past with a grinding disc are now being done with a flap disc.

    WHERE IS THE GUARD FOR YOUR GRINDER.
    There is pretty much no excuse, for not having a guard on your grinder, except maybee when running cup brushes and cup stones.
    All too often we see people failing to use a guard with a grinder, this is stupidity pure and simple.
    Grinder injuries rank very high in emergency room visits.
    LOOK at how close the back hand is the the spinning wheel, a failure in grip strength and several fingers or knuckles, could be gone in the blink of an eye..
    LOOK at how much sparks are being thrown toward the user, because there is no guard fitted.
    Remember grinder injuries are very painful and a very difficult job for the surgeon, because the cut is ragged, full of dirt and there is flesh and bone missing.

      this comment was an opinion as far as bad idea bad vlog. very informational learned what i needed to. pretty sure it’s your angle grinder your video and your body parts and your decisions as an american to do as you please. so sad to see all the osha sissy’s on here lol back in the day people didn’t whine about stuff all the time. you can’t do anything positive now days without offending someone or hurting someone’s feelings . i take my guard off at times when needed and i’m pretty sure most people with common sense can navigate through life just fine without your thoughts buddy . people like this guy is the permit guy you never wanna get when building lmao
