    You can argue that 4th and 1 is the most important play, as far as stakes go, in NFL history because it is the only "Golden" play in the league's history where failing to convert ends the game immediately and a Super Bowl winner is confirmed. It's like the baseball concept of a "Golden Pitch", which there have only been a few in all of MLB history. NFL finally had a "Golden Down" moment

      What is a golden pitch?

    • @noahmichael2213
      @noahmichael2213 2 месяца назад +7

      @@AugustineKusiDuah-bk4fr a pitch in baseball where both teams have potential to win the world series. Obviously, it can only happen in a game 7 and in the 9th inning with a runner on base. Guess you could argue that the Chiefs possession in OT was an entire drive of "Golden" plays in that a turnover would have immediately won the game for the 49ers and a TD would have immediately won it for the Chiefs. But given the 4th and 1 it was a single play which could have ended the super bowl either way.

    • @javiermedranoduran4205
      @javiermedranoduran4205 Месяц назад

      @@noahmichael2213 I think for it to work one to one the 4th and 1 would have had to be 4th and Goal for the Chiefs because even after converting this 4th and 1, the Chiefs were not guaranteed a TD to win the game.

    • @noahmichael2213
      @noahmichael2213 Месяц назад

      @@javiermedranoduran4205 The possibility existed for the Chiefs to score a touchdown on the 4th and 1 though, which would end the game. Same with a golden pitch. The last golden pitch in baseball was 2016 with a runner on first and two outs. The batter grounded out and world series ended...or had the batter hit a homerun the series would have ended as well. Had he simply gotten a base hit he would have advanced the runner the next batter would have a golden pitch as well. It's possible for more than one batter to face a golden pitch in the same game...last time was game 7 in 2001. In this case, the chiefs converting the 4th and 1 was the equivalent of having a next batter up facing another golden pitch.
      I also forgot to mention initially that for a "golden pitch" "golden" play moment the team on offense "the batting team" has to be losing. It can't be tied

    The AFCCG is one of the most impressive games from a strategy and mental aspect ever played. Chiefs beat the Ravens mentally but keeping pressure on them the entire game, and they buckled.

    • @davidjudd951
      @davidjudd951 2 месяца назад +6

      The Ravens lost the game, when Justin Tucker decided to set up his practice tee directly in front of Mahomes while Patrick was warming up.

    The McDuffie play was an example of great team defense. Karlaftis has to run hard practically straight up the field to take the tackle out of the play and Bolton has to hit it hard inside to ensure he keep the guard honest. That creates the lane McDuffie needed to get to the ball.

    The touchdown to win it in OT outsmarted the 49ers. I would kinda think that would make this list. Mecole certainly would like to be on the list since that is his final and finest moment for him as a Chief.

    The play that won in OT was so well done. To my knowledge they ran that play 2-3 times in the game vs the eagles last year, and they only ran it that ONE time in the playoffs (again, what I can remember) and it was in that moment to seal the game. And like always someone was open

    "Andy Reid... once he straps on the headset and watches the ball kickoff, the man couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag." "Seven-year-olds playing Madden have a more acute understanding of game-management than Reid" "if it came down to both teams were even, talent-wise, I think the opponent's team would win if it came down to coaching" - Bleacher Report JANUARY 5, 2013

    A Topic I believe you might enjoy is.
    How many times does Andy Reid use your defensive talent or scheme against teams.
    Corndog worked because of Phillys defensive scheme,
    This last superbowl nick bosa is overly aggressive allowing Mahomes make a 1st down.
    I believe it's also interesting how somethings are held in reserve not to show future plans

    Designed runs to Mahomes is itself outsmarting their opponents. Mahomes hasnt had a designed run since his kneecap decided the view was better from the other side of the leg. Also corndog, these are plays that they never ran during the season leading up to the superbowl. While other teams play vanilla during the preseason, and let it hang out during the reg season, Chiefs play vanilla all reg season, then break out the fun stuff in the post season.

    I think the smartest play was the one that won the superbowl, "Tom and Jerry". Correction, the play that won 2 superbowls. They kept this play in the back pocket until the very last and it worked. You can see in the replay that the defense had been prepared for it for the game but not at that moment.

    The Dolphins game was less about the Chiefs outsmarting them and more about the Dolphins defense being so injury riddled that they were forced to play 80 year olds like Melvin Ingram, Justin Houston and Bruce Irving at edge and start Eli Apple at corner. They literally did not have a possible effective game plan with those personnel.
