I knew this wouldn’t be a high performing video but it might be the most important one we’ve ever posted. This is how you get better. A lot of the workouts have been posted online on Andrew’s channel, @fit4tennis. Go check it out and support him. And if you don’t believe me, I just played two matches in the same day and I am chilling heheh thank you guys! We keep battling
This has been one of my favorite videos - really gives a lot of insight into how to get into tennis shape. I have always just done footwork drills with a ball machine or ran/biked but this gives you some new insight into getting into shape for tennis
Dude Karue just took out Demin (world n. 1 junior last year), another strong prospect in Buse, and his quasi-namesake Sells, who just over a year ago was ranked close to 120... now into the semis of the 25K in Portugal... absolutely insane what this guy is doing!
Yeah it's really awesome to see and be a part of his journey. Karue is probably the best tennis creator online right now. His content is 🔥, he's a great coach, and obviously he's incredible at tennis.
Love the video. Ive been saying this for years, Tennis (and all racquet sports really) is a legs game. Its very hard for amateurs players to see why someone is good when based off of the legs and effortlessness getting in position. Most people look at big shots as the hallmark of a great player. Great legs is quiet like you mentioned in the video. Im a relatively small guy but have always had great footwork. As a result, so many people told me i wasnt good, that i just got to every ball and was consistent. Its really annoying when your footwork is soo good it overshadows or delegitimizes the rest of your game. But then again the people who said that to me dont play tennis anymore, so it really is a ego thing.
Man, that is the case for every good mover, they are considered the pusher. That is total bullshit haha a person hits two decent winners a set and think they are great players and shouldn’t lose to a guy who does what tennis is at is core: move well and get balls back. It’s the entire point of the sport hahah don’t listen to the haters, keep taking their lunch money (and show them this video)
i really do like what andrew has to say in this video. i'll use myself as a cautionary tale: i spent so much time getting myself into incredible shape that DIDN'T translate into tennis before. it was insanely frustrating to work so incredibly hard but then not be able to have it translate into the court. tennis is such a specific beast and while being in better shape is never a negative, the time i spent doing things like crossfit could have been better spent doing something more structured for tennis. but alas, that was 2011, i didn't have enough money for personal training or to join a full-time academy, and there wasn't quite the programming that we see nowadays out there online.
I agree that even if it's not a high performing video, it's probably the most important one. At least for what I can learn from your channel to add to my game as a rec player. Thanks for making it!
Fitness! I’m one year back into the sport after almost 30 years away and I’m inspired to shift my focus more towards fitness. Especially to prevent injury on court! Thank you for continuing to share your story with us. Now get to work and don’t worry about the videos for the next month! Rooting for ya.
For me, this is as good or even better of a video. As a player trying to focus on my fitness as well, this routine has been beneficial and will be incorporated into my tennis schedule. Thank you Karue for sharing this information!
This is my favorite video you've made. 💯 I think you're spot on when you say that we put too much importance on how we hit the ball and not enough on how we move around the court. 👌 Keep up the good work!
i love every video you've ever done but this just might be the best of them all! thank you very much for sharing this karue! wishing you a tremendous season!
Well done, buddy! I think it’s hilarious when your coach said, “Karue won’t take you off the court by hitting 135mph serves or 100mph forehands…” like bro-who is?!!! Kyrgios? He isn’t even playing now. Karue you’re a legend. Keep it up!
While I play at a much, much lower level, and while my workouts are not necessarily tennis-specific, I can relate to this. I've always been pretty athletic (played soccer, tennis, volleyball, badminton; skied a lot), I had never worked out in a gym until about a year ago. In November 2023, I started working out 3 days a week, partly because I felt I was getting tired faster when playing sports (I'm 34 now; not old, but not getting younger either). Gained about 12 lbs of weight, 7 or 8 lbs of muscle mass (I'm 6'0", 166 lbs now). Around the same time, I also started taking private tennis lessons from a very good coach (former men's college team head coach). Of my last 20 matches, I won 17, and almost got bumped from 3.5 to 4.0. Part of it has been tennis related, but a huge part is physical. I step on the court knowing that I can chase every ball and can outrun and outlast pretty much any opponent I may play in the local league. I still have a long way to go (improvement is a continuous process, there is no end point), but still, I wholeheartedly agree with you. If one wants to get better on the tennis court, getting stronger is massively important.
Hey Karue, i have been keeping track of your progress and massive congrats on beating J Sel in straights too. I remembered him reaching a few challenger finals a couple years ago.
This reminds me of when Verdasco took his fitness seriously and had some amazing seasons. I saw him play Gasquet in Rome (2007 I think) wearing a heart rate monitor on court
Most rec players could bump up a level just with fitness alone. VERY important in my eyes, so thanks. With a rough little patch I am trying to carry more weight than ever and, even though I have been able to keep up, it ain't pretty. Need to get my fat A back out and working. Good stuff Karue. Cheers.
from Greece with love keep going strong to the top🤙💪🎯 it would be very interesting if you could inform us about the nutritional habits of a professional player as well as what and when he chooses to eat which foods according to the day, training - competition etc.
Great content Karue! I was wondering if you can share little bit about the balance between doing the fitness and training with a racquet in a week? Good luck
Which percept are you using mate ? How heavy have you set it up ? Good luck in your upcoming matches ! I see you’ve got a good youngster ( Demin ) 1st round 2mo ! 🎾 GL
Show us a full workout session! That's what we want, not a 10 min warm-up for senior members of the country club! 🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃 I would love to see you work out for an hour or so
The funny thing about this video is: focusing on moving better will inadvertently make your ball strike better and cleaner. Because you will have a good balanced position to strike the ball. 😂
Being a 4,5 with scarce free time to exercise beyond my twice a week hitting sessions, would doing this workout twice a week be beneficial? Or would you recommend adding other cardio/strength exercises as well?
If you can’t be on court for as long as you would like, yes fitness would have the greatest (silent) impact on your game. I don’t do a lot of normal cardio (like long runs and stuff), my cardio is catered to tennis as Andrew explained. In general, become fitter so you can run more on court, more often than your opponent.
Question about lateral shuffles: if he goes to his left he pushes off his left foot, and if he goes to his right he pushes off his right foot. Is that correct?
Yes. You should always push with your outside leg first. Like if you have to chase a ball that is going to your backhand (righty) the first push is with the right leg
Im a 400m athlete. As soon as I got to tennis I was a 4.5. I didnt even have a racketswing, I just tapped the ball to the other side but I could handle some patienceless guys that played for decades by getting to the ball fast and firm with my legs. Fitness is way underrated in tennis, many dudes cant even sprint and want to hit winners consistently.. Won't do
What weight would you recommend the medicine ball be at? I usually use a 20lb slam ball for my cardio work, but these appear to be bouncy medicine balls. Would 10lb or 12lb be good, Karue?

Thanks for the the workout at the last half of video, it was exactly what I was looking for -- a routine without a lot of equipment focused on tennis.
Can I use this as the 1 size fits all pre match/hitting session warm up? Or would you recommend a different video from Andrew’s channel?
This video is absolutely amazing. So much high value information. Thank you for this masterpiece! Best of luck out there Karue!
Thanks, Karue. I have been waiting for this video for a few weeks.

what weight medicine ball should a guy start with?
@@analogkid8same ask! thanks a lot!
In one of your older videos, you said that in tennis, you "win with your legs." I've never forgotten that, and tell myself this in every match.

That is all people do. They believe tennis is like golf. It isn’t’. Move better, win more
Yeah people do this with golf too, they play golf swing not golf. Course management is often overlooked
Thank you so much for this Karue. As somoene who primarily plays tennis for the physical health benefits, this was a perfect video to help with that

Could it be done right before a practice session, or is it too exhausting ?
Definitely can be done right before. Give yourself like 5 mins to catch your breath after but you’ll be totally warmed up
Absolutely awesome video! Just a question, is this workout supposed to be done just before a hitting session?
Anytime you want! Before would be a solid warm up. Ad some arm bands to it, a couple of sprints. Boom
