    Another truck I've seen people do when pouring molds is use a reciprocating saw with the blade off and the end where the blade would come through (don't know the name of that part of the saw) against the edge of your container that your mold is in then turn on and use as a vibratory way to help get bubbles out.
    I would think that would work here too

    I have questions, first what would happen to the mold if you put it into a freez drier, would it fall apart, would it become hard and tougher, what would a cast look like from a freeze dried mold.
    Secondly I'm guessing the kind of similarity or the feeling to grants old set isn't by accident, would that be a fair assumption.
    I think he'd be proud of this part of his legacy without a doubt

    Nate, I build signs for a living and your NFTI sign behind you is driving me nuts. You shouldn't be able to see a dotted line of light around the sign. I'm guessing you made it yourself and I don't blame you (A commercial backlit sign that size would cost at least 2k to make and install) and you probably used a led strip light around the perimeter, and while they can work for objects farther away from the wall, like a TV for instance, but up close lack any diffusion and make the dotted lines we see.
    What you need is proper sign led modules. Google pictures of a "backlit led sign" to see what I mean. They have a lens over each led that projects the light equally in a 360° shallow bowl shape so there are no bright spots in any direction. Even when spaced inches apart they blend together seamlessly and create an illusion of it being one continuous light source like a neon tube.
    You would only need probably 20 to 30 modules spaced evenly down the center of the letters, but you can try different spacing and counts to achieve the brightness and overlap your looking for.
    The only downside is that you will need to supply your own power supply but if you make sure you get 12v modules, you can probably use any 12v wall plug or power adapter that puts out 12v and at least 1amp for that few modules (Like an old external hard drive power adapter for instance).
    Also I should note that just a single 12v 3led module is probably brighter than a 12 foot section of led light strips. And for further reference we replaced all of our florescent lights in our facility with these modules by sticking 34 2led modules to the inside of the housing and replacing the ballast with a 12v power supply and it is just as or brighter than 4-4ft florescent tubes. And for durability, aside from a few power supply failures we haven't changed any of the led's in over 10 years.
    Feel free to message me if you have any other questions on installing or good brands to buy.
    I've been watching you since you started on kor and unsubscribed from kor when they fired you. Don't be afraid to put out random content, even if it's something you visited before on kor or someone else did. You have your own unique perspective and can put your own thoughts, designs, expertise, etc into something that may have been done before but done poorly and put your own spin on it.
    I know it's long but I hope you have a chance to read it and good luck with your future endeavors!

    • @AgentWest
      @AgentWest 8 месяцев назад

      2k for a small sign like that one? Surely that's something more fancy/permanent than, say, a retail shop sign, right? I presume more of "will be behind a show host and on camera at all times" as in this particular case.
      Also why not use EL Rope (the "led noodle" kind, not the "Christmas lights in a tube" kind) instead of individual modules? I'm guessing the rope is simply not bright enough? Those modules wired together make great work lights btw, just add magnets to them.
