This is the final video of our "Cool Details in Metroid Dread" series! Thank you so much for watching, hope you guys enjoyed it! ^^
Don't miss the outro at 8:00 ;)
Thanks for your video series! Your editing is top-notch 🏆
You forgot to mention EMMIs in the last detail, as Samus acquires her abilities back after touching them. The first EMMI just desintegrates as it was severely damaged and Samus never touches it, watching the Arm Cannon getting back to normal.
Duuuuude! It was a RIDE!!! Thanks for this series!
Great series! Thanks for all your work on these, they really did an amazing job highlighting the attention to detail in this game. Also, the showcase for the shinespark/morph ball, that was some serious skills on display!
Great series. A shame to see it end, but obviously you run out of details eventually.
A side note. When Samus' metroid powers kick in at the opening sequence I always thought that was what depowered her. When the power activated without anything else to absorb it instead fed on her power-ups. In essence her power consumed her own body like how a starving person becomes smaller as their body feeds on itself to stay alive.
Oh I like this theory a lot!
I thought about it too and i think it’s the real explanation for samus depower
This is a good one
like when your body consume calories due to exercise and you lose fat. It s plausible
Makes sense! She also looses her Aeion abilities when in Metroid Form. I think it devoured the Aeion Abilities as they are really powerful
i think the fact that you were able to put out 9 videos on this just shows how much passion and care was put into this game, truly Metroid Dread is a blessing
I'm not convinced half of these details weren't added via Stealth patches post-release ;P Soooo much stuff I missed..
RIP the devs that were hired, added these cool details, then got Laid off or fired without their names in the credits because MercurySteam Contracts are horrifying to work for... MercurySteam can make metroid but they should be more transparent about their business contracts (They could also try beeing less strict too).
@@chillstoneblakeblast3172 I mean they should’ve just read the fine print lol
@@youngkappakhan you read the fine print on everything, do you?
@@rhettmitchell Uhhh if it’s for my JOB, yeah. You would be an idiot to not understand every last detail of an employer’s contract before consenting to it.
The other element of Samus’s Metroid powers that I noticed recently was when she defeats the EMMI, the power seems to coalesce nearest the point of her left hand like it’s being siphoned out that way. Which of course explains how she’s able to harness their abilities.
The bit with the super missile in the intro fight with Raven Beak is great because it shows that you need to parry to disable his shield so you can deal damage.
actually i think you can win without parry, and said shield is still active in the parry sequence, he just have a borderland-style shield that run out of power after too much hit, hence why he stagger in the first hit of each mid phase cutscene
6:47 even right there, she reaches for Raven Beak with her hand even though that would have done nothing save for her Metroid powers. It's like she instinctually knew what to do
The detail regarding Kraid in this video is awesome, but it goes even deeper than this. In fact, Kraid's bossfight can be ignored for quite a while in a run. And after releasing X parasites from Elun, if you'll come back to his room, he will be completely GONE... no bossfight at all! That purple parasite just swallowed him whole instead of just one spike! I got shooked when I encountered that. Funnily enough, Kraid's roars on the way to his room will still be triggered regardless.
And also, thanks for your videos, they're very awesome!
And fun fact: if you skip drogyga until after elun, the same thing happens!
Oh man... Sad to see this series go. I still have the feeling we still have more things to uncover. This game is amazing. Thank you for the series.
Yeah, I expect an ENCORE PRESENTATION in a few months.. we'll find more, I bet! (Hopefully enough for another big send-off!)
the morph ball while speed boosting trick honestly had my jaw dropped, that was amazing and she was going so fast! i hope someone breaks a new speedrunning record with that
During one of those 'SHOWCASE' clips I said "get the fuck outta here" out loud :P
it's most definitely a reference to the mach ball trick from Super Metroid
I like that Samus actually changes her footing stance on inclines. Something 99% of all other games don't design their characters to do
With the knowledge that you can keep momentum from a speed booster run into Morph Ball, Mock Ball is now canonical
As an interesting side note to the phantom cloak detail, Samus also pulls her arm in closer. Reducing overall volume for stealth purposes, maybe?
Samus does small things, like that super missile hitting raven beak's helm to affect him later; that ultimately helped her get the upper hand.
lovely series, kudos to everyone who participated in sharing their details and everyone who watched with as much excitement as i did
3:38 Looygi Bros. is just flexing his skills at this point, very nice stuff :3
Thank you for gathering all the cool little details in the game. It is an honor to be featured on this video. Thank you for this cool series and your trouble finding and or showing every detail this amazing game offers!!! I hope everyone reading this that if you played dread that you hopefully enjoyed it as much as I have.
When I finished Metroid Dread, I felt it was about a 9/10, so good. WhenI finished the Cool Details series, it's a 10.
I think a lot of people who for some reason could not get into BotW should watch the gamespots 30 (or any number) more things you still don't know about BotW. The series has been going on for 5 years and they still keep on finding new stuff. Perhaps these videos would make the aforementioned people to "get" the game in the same way as this.
This series has been something to watch while I still continue to not comprehend that the game is real after waiting over 18 years for it. Thank you for putting all these videos together.
So many months and still continues to demonstrate the enormous quality with which this game was created.
Just finished the game and currently 100% this game was an amazing return to form it tightened all the controls and added to the formula in a unique and fun way
I never thought her absorbing the Central Unit and EMMI powers was the result of her latent Metroid abilities. Pretty cool detail.
And maybe it absorbed all her previous suit abilities and powers right at the start to keep her alive during Raven Beak's assault! It went into survival mode! Now you need to find your morph ball again! 🤣
I don’t know if anybody noticed: you can still shoot Kraid’s head during the second phase without relying on the Spider Magnet. He’s looking down at Samus during the entirety of this phase until you make the climb from the belly spikes or using the Grapple Beam through sequence breaking. If you defeat Kraid while in the air on the lower half of the arena, it skips his last recoil animation. None of the Charged Shots or Missiles will hit Kraid’s head while you stand on the lower platform. It’s some good practice for the wall jump.
Also, the room right before the last hint for Kraid contains large tubes. If so, it’s possible they serve as part of the collar and shackles restraining him in the bowels of Cataris. Considering he was contained by Ashkar Behek and the Mawkin, who knows how long he was there… The only reason it makes sense is that they acquired his Geoform details to resurrect him in a similar fashion to Ridley in Prime (Meta, Geoform 187).
Can’t help but notice the horizontal eyelids which is uncommon on any character/monster design in science-fiction, making his eyes look like reptile pupils (snakes) until they fully open. And yes, they’re red which is almost symbolic considering the EMMI and Ashkar Behek.
In super Metroid and Zero misión the Powers like ice beam after you opened the capsule it looks like Little animals, looks like those techniques the chozo made them from some species so to me it was pretty normal seeing samus absorbing things with her power suit
Thanks for putting all of this series together. It was such a fun watch and very well produced! One of favorites in awhile.
I realized that Raven Beak X has unique details from other bosses: when he starts to transform, it can roar like Kraid when he spills out fireballs, and it can roar like Experiment Z-57 before starting the battle. The little arms with two fingers he has resembles to the experiment on Dairon that you can see until it's frozen with the rest of ZDR.
Just to add on to number 11, you see that Samus never touched the first EMMI, confirming that Samus’s ability to absorb the abilities from the other EMMIs.
Yes. And she even is surprised after touching the Spider Magnet one.
Definitely! I saw that when I played the section my first time
Actually I think if you go down into the lava pit Kraid fell into after the Experiment fight you'll see that Kraid's gone, so it wasn't just the spike that got absorbed, Kraid as a whole was probably absorbed as well
I actually think the spike is more likely, and the rest of the body was just completely destroyed by lava, especially since Z-57's core X appears to get destroyed in the lava when you defeat it.
@LetsPlayNintendoITA the experiment core X was destroyed by the lava
You can see the raven beak x has experiment trait too. The head splitting open and crawling came from that experiment creature. It was that boss falling into lava as core x losing the core shield in proceed in the surge of lava until it found kraid's corpse since kraid is immune to lava for most part so it managed to survive and float slowly out toward the surface where you and raven beak fell onto with the ship collapse. Another noteworthy point is that it survived hyper beam for a shocking length of time whereas other x simply vaporized upon contact which would suggests it's far more powerful in structure and considering they can divide themselves... with one of the detail regarding two of the chozo starships disappearing... yeah make me wonder if there's more purple X's.
@@fatebornubelengel8474 Kraid doesn’t leave a corpse though. Raven beak X was simply a very mutated fusion of Raven Beak and Kraid, in the same why the X version of Z-57 is drastically different from the original. Also, the Lava pit the core X felling and the one Kraid was in are in two different areas, and the pits themselves are unconnected, so I don’t understand why people keep bringing it up.
Here is one more detail. There are two Aeion abilities that Samus had in Samus Returns that did not make a return in Dread. They are the shield and the rapid fire. However, Raven Beak uses them against you.
Wow @Looygi Bros. You’ve made this game just that much better for me with all those details! I can appreciate how much the little things all connect. It turns out it’s a much more intelligent design by the developers than just a simple Metroid game. It’s a masterpiece and definitely worth the wait! 😎👍🏾
there are so many cool details the developers put into the game! It's actually pretty crazy!
And people keep saying Dread was the most simplistic, linear Metroidvania of the whole decade. It really is irritating.
2:18 Raven beaks expression combined with the somewhat awkward item room music is killing me 🤣
Pretty late to be included in the video, but here's another detail I found related to Corpius.
A vertical area with two presence doors and a magnet surface(which is located in Artaria, specifically under "Jaffe room"), two Kreeps and a Sunnap reside there. However, during the background event when phantom cloaked Corpius appear in that area, none of those creatures could be found. It is likely that Corpius had devoured them.
Overlooked a lot of these items throughout this video series. Thanks for making it, can’t wait till Metroid 6 in 2040!
or 2256
Thank you for making this game that much more enjoyable. So many details I wouldn't have seen. You're the best! Until next mission!
I love when you pause the video and make the mysterious Item Room theme from Super Metroid play.
Every time the video zooms in with the Item Room music in the background is so creepy and scary xD. I love your Metroid Dread Videos.
Thank you for compiling everything.
This game is really top notch on details.
When a hater says "a $1 mobile game sold for $60" is pure stupidness.
Congratulations on this amazing series! Too bad it's the last video! Please do more! How much love in this work and how much love on your part for finding so many fantastic details! Congratulations!!! Thank you!
6:48 When I first saw this shot in the trailer, I thought this was Samus gesturing for the chozo not to shoot. After playing the game I believe this was the metroid feeding instinct kicking in whether she realized it or not.
2:27 With a crack on his beak that big, Raven Beak must have known that Samus's hand has mutated to have full-on claws.
Very cool series I've waited until finally beating the game this week to actually watch it and I'm glad y'all made this it was great to take a closer look at all the things I simply overlooked and see the care the devs took to not do the same.
Another cool detail is that you can actually see the elevator shaft that Samus rides in the intro in various rooms throughout the game.
those speed and morph ball moves - WHOA!
Thank you so much for all these videos!
This series was so good, it’s also awesome to know that the developers also watch these videos
They do?
@@sherbertshortkake6649 yep, one of the Senior Gameplay Programmers tweeted about this specific series and how he’s super proud it
@@nintendoge1575 I MUST SEE THIS.
Do you know their name, or how I could find them?
Thank you, man. These videos are highly enjoyable
Awesome "series" that you did! Thank you too to put so much effort on it.
Thank you for these videos!
Most of these are pretty minor or evident, like the first use of the absorbing ability was clearly shown in the trailer in August, but I'm happy you made it anyway.
Thank you for doing all of these!
Ho-ly cow. What amazing attention to detail! Amazing work Bros!!! Thank you for your videos!!!
Thank you very much for this series
I love loving Metroid dude
All good things come to and end. Thanks a lot for putting your effort highlighting those details.
This was a blast to watch. I seriously was surprised how many details I didn't notice, or did and didn't think too much about.
Wow, amazing series of videos. Thanks so much!
I'm personally not sure about that metroid power foreshadowing thing, since it looks to me like Samus is just looking at how her suit has changed, trying to figure out what happened to her.
The fact she specifically spends much more time looking at the left hand compared to the rest of the suit (which you can see her looking over beforehand) certainly implies its more than that.
game over emmi screen is good desing and efficient.
they didnt had to make a whole new one and its fitting for both situations.
Thank you very much for this series ! :D
playing today I noticed another amazing attention to detail. When you shot a beam, you can notice that Samus arm canon starts to heat up. However, if you're underwater, the arm canon will remain cool and the reason is obvious. And if you shot in the surface when the arm is still hot and then you jump into water, it will cool down immediately.
I loved your videos and If we get more metroid content (it doesn't matter if it is a manga or videogame) I hope we can see samus training to improve her new metroid powers.
I can't count how many times I said "huh" when watching these videos. Thanks for all the neat stuff.
Another neat fact is that samus now absorbs powers like megaman.
Came to an end.. darn. Still amazing how many details that were even implemented
Really cool detail I discovered recently, there’s a huge vertical shaft that extends throughout the entire map in the center, likely the elevator shaft Samus went through in the intro.
Looygi covered that in the previous video
@@ArceusDX Good to know, I missed the last video so I didn't realize
Noooooooooooooooooooo! I loved these little videos! Thank you for making these!
Interesting note is the speedball spins backwards due to the optical illusion from fast spinning.
Bravo! Thank you for your hard work and editing skills.
Excellent series! 👏🏾💪🏾👌🏾
I feel like you should do a similar series for Samus Returns. Since they were both made by the same studio, there's a lot of stuff carried over from SR to Dread. For example, most of the sound effects in Dread were originally from Samus Returns.
Really fun series I enjoyed watching it
Fantastic stuff. Just deepens my love for the game
Also, when raven beak gets infected by an X, his eyes turn white from red
Wait wait wait. So you're saying, when Samus gets spiked by an EMMI, we're basically seeing their pov:
"Hehehehe you got dead, game over"
You did an amazing job, well done
Ya know, if that purple X got Kraid's DNA from that little stomach spike, that means technically there's a possibility the X never absorbed Kraid himself and he could come back in later entries.
Really, ALL of Kraid is gone, and his hide can survive lava so you'd think there'd still be a corpse. No, the X ate the whole damn Kraid
@@NieroshaiTheSable If Kraid can survive lava, and Kraid is gone entirely, doesn't that just support the idea that Kraid escaped after falling into the lava? 🤔
Kraid *is* missing from the pool of lava even before the X parasites are released. Plus, as shown from the Experiment Core X, X's *can't* survive in lava, so how would an X even go down into the lava to absorb his body in the first place?
I thought her absorbing energy and items with her hand is a feature of the armor, not her metroid abilities.
Actually both since chozo bother made them, and the suit is like pre Metroid that hasn't perfected it after countless research on Metroid that is about to lose under their control or already did that they have to research both ways.
Hence Samus was the perfect Metroid the chozo ever had.
Well this is my theory since I love the lore behind armors and suit from scifi series.
I can’t remember if this is the video you showed the clue in, but your segment about the missing chozo ships is a subtle detail with big implications because it opens the door for future battles against X parasites, contradicting the idea that this “ends” the Metroid saga.
Thanks man great seriers
2:24 "Yup. That's me."
6:00 this never happened to me in game
See you next mission!! 👮 great work!!
With how much Metroid has done with shine spark mechanics, they need to have either a mini-game or a mobile game centered around that mechanic to navigate an obstacle course!
Thanks for you dedication to the best game so far release in past year since super Metroid. This game revolutionary the way 2-D games should look now days.
The debris from the fire when you run your way to the Varia Suit can be found later in the the Teleporter area down below.
To be honest, I think Samus looking at her hand simply means she is noticing her Varia Suit being gone.
Thanks for sharing this videos. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A cool detail I heard was that metroid suit Samus when you look in her viser in the video part you would notice her hair is replaced with metroid brains
Thank you, for everything
number 11 got my mind blown omg wow!
THE SHINESPARK CAN ALSO
Do your taxes
Pay your bills
Cook
Clean
And do laundry!
SERIOUSLY! THE DREAD TEAM L-O-V-E-D THE SHINESPARK AND SPEEDBOOSTER LMFAO
Thank you so much... even though its the end of this series, i still have business with it ;) See you next mission!
I'll miss this, it was a very good series
definitely going to miss the series
About raven beak x, im pretty sure he is a combination of most non-x parasite bosses
The amazing attention to details in (most) Nintendo games are part of what makes Nintendo games some of the very best in the industry. Metroid Dread alone has many more rich details than some of the most expensive AAA video games such as The Last of Us and Uncharted.
You can skip the Drogyga boss by using a speedrun tech, by cannon clipping so you can destroy a wall and easily skipping the boss, but if you did that method and you decide to go back, Drogyga won’t be there anymore, you won’t get stuck or anything, even the buttons you use to lower the water are intractable, but they do nothing, have fun checking it out!!
If you don’t understand, ask me for gameplay footage, I still have it!!
Thank you!
9 cool videos by Looygi Bros.
I always hit the like button before starting the video
Raven Beak Kraid Secret Boss Fight When!
Hey broo, I saw all the video about cool things about Metroid, this videos are the best videos on RUclips about a game... I have a question for you, I hope you answer me back. Which ability do you think we lost after defeating the boss Z-57?
It would have been awesome for me if RB morphed into something that resembles ridley.
