Holocaust Survivor Hits Back at Anti-Israel Campus Chaos With Sobering Warning

- Jochen “Jack” Wurfl knows the rampant evil antisemitism can breed as he lost nearly every family member during Adolf Hitler's reign of terror. Wurfl, who shared his harrowing story in the book "My Two Lives," told CBN News he never thought he'd see such disturbing antisemitism in America, where he settled after the Holocaust.
"It's frightening, because it could end up in the same sort of situation eventually," Wurfl said of spiraling antisemitism that many have compared to the situation before Hitler launched his murderous quest. "I just don't understand it. How people can feel like this again - that they don't know what happened during the Holocaust, back during Hitler's regime?" The survivor lamented the loss of millions of lives and expressed his severe sorrow and fear over where the situation currently stands after Hamas' Oct. 7 terror attack and the war and antisemitism that followed.
"One would think that, once this happened, it could never happen again - that people have learned from this," Wurfl said. "But I'm beginning to wonder, because the younger people nowadays don't know anything about the Holocaust." Wurfl's comments come after a recent YouGov and Economist poll of 1,500 18-29-year-olds yielded some shocking findings. A whopping 20% believed the Holocaust never happened - and an additional 30% were unsure, underscoring fears of antisemitism among youths.
Another recent poll from Summit.org and RMG Research found that 33% of 18-24-year-old voters believe "Israel does not have a right to exist as a nation in the Middle East." "It's frightening," Wurfl said of the current dynamics among young people who continue to occupy college campuses with anti-Israel fervor. "And I can't understand that our education hasn't been better to let the kids know what happened [during the Holocaust]."
As CBN News has documented, Wurfl's own journey during the Holocaust was quite painful. "I lost my entire family," he said. "I lost my father, who had become a political prisoner ... and my mother was arrested by the Gestapo and the SS, and she was taken to Auschwitz, and she was killed there." Back in 1984, my high school history teacher was prohibited from showing films on the Holocaust because the school board wanted to avoid upsetting parents. I confronted my teacher and told him I’d bet most kids in my class didn’t even know what the Holocaust was and it was his job as a teacher to educate us. The next day when I walked into class there were eight large projector reels stacked up and we watched them all. Kids were in disbelief and asking, “Is this a movie?” “This isn’t real, is it?” The teacher was speechless and had tears in his eyes. He took some flack for showing the truth, but he did it anyway. He was a real teacher.
May God bless the courage of that teacher -- and ALL who take a stand for objective truth.

And part of the reason we have those films, pictures, records, etc. is because the generals of the time remarked that we needed to make a point to preserve it all so we didn't forget it.
In 1984??? I graduated from high school in 1982. I don't believe that anyone then didn't know about the Holocaust...at least where I grew up.

My grandfather fought in WW2 and landed on Juno Beach. He walked into Belson concentration camp and saw the unthinkable. I stand against antisemitism with pride.
My father also fought in WW2 and was there, at Bergen Belsen, for a short time. It is an awful reality which was a marker for me within my childhood and a place where I needed to gain understanding of how to bear the unbearable and how to work for it not to happen again.
That is why I mention Mosab Hassan Yousef’s interview with Jordan Peterson. As he has a genuine care for what is being suffered by the children of Palestine and he also cares for children of Israel , this plus knowledge , experience and a will to find a way forward that can work.

Just one very sad mistake. The Jews had their own country before 1948. You may have heard of King David and King Solomon. In fact, the Jews had 2 different countries: Israel in the north and Judea in the south. They lost their kingdom when the Romans concurred and expelled them. History is so important. The first places My wife and I took our children to visit while in the US on holiday in the early 2000's in Maryland was the Holocaust museum then the Native American, and from there Gettysburg and Colonial Williamsburg . Now in their late twenties with children of their own, they still say it was the best vacation they ever had, because it gave them an almost tangible understanding of the past and historic events that shaped the world. I rest easy in the knowledge that one day they say, they will make the same journey with their own children.

First of all this gentlemen has my utmost sympathy for enduring and losing ALL that he did during the Holocaust. The only thing I disagree with is that "the most educated people are in college and universities." These places of " higher learning" have America haters, Israel haters teaching and spreading their propaganda and hatred. There is NO EXCUSE for ANY child, teen, young adult to NOT know about the Holocaust IF the PUBLIC schools are doing their job and teaching HISTORY correctly. I agree with Mr. Wurfl regarding how little people know about the holocaust. I'm 70 years of age, took it in Grade 10 History, my favorite teacher Miss Chalmers. She made sure to show actual videos of the events that took place when the American, Canadian, English Military showed up and took videos of the various concentration camps. It never left me. I am appalled by the Universities, the young people, the Government, for allowing this to happen.
Holocaust was horrendous and should never have been allowed to happen. Should never again to any people like the Palestinians either. So it’s a lesson to be learned no one should tolerate that . There’s also actual movies of the holocaust that was on tv in the 1950’s-60’s. I was a young teen at the time & I watched it many times over the years. It’s a great account of what went on & in reality. These movies should be shown in history classes everywhere.
I think the universities should play movies like Schindler’s List to inform and educate the students and faculty.
A prerequisite for admission.
Plus they should use some pf the in depth interviews (testimonies) of Holocaust survivors. Countless are available on RUclips. Those testimonies are priceless and very educational, they opened my eyes more than the movies, both when it comes to the political situationa and propaganda leading up to and paving way for Holocaust, and how the Jewish people experienced it on a personal level.
I think they should be forced to watch hamas’ own recordings of what they did to women and kids and babies….

I have studied the Holocaust extensively because I can't understand man's inhumanity towards another man. I'm a first generation American . My parents were German citizens during the time of the Holocaust. They were christian. I use to ask them if they didn't see, didn't notice, what was happening to the Jewish population all around them? Somehow, they seem to have been blinded by this huge atrocity.
I never understood that. Never.

Last night I watched a "holocaust survivor" supporting the pro-palestinian protests. After watching this and comparing the 2, I even doubt that the other guy really was a holocaust survivor. He spoke in general terms about how people then didn't stand up & fight and how everyone was afraid and looked the other way. He called what was happening is gaza genocide! Imagine that! If he really experienced his people getting decimated by the MILLIONS, how could he call 34,000 genocide?? And not once did he call for the return of the hostages.
Another very notable difference between the 2 is how relaxed & composed the pro-palestinian "survivor" was as he spoke. With this guy, you can tell he's suffered, and when he spoke of what he went through, you can see how he self soothed when he rubbed his hands.
Once again, the pro-Palestinians have fooled people with their propaganda. 😢
