Damn! Finally someone who doesn't bore u with talking too much to get to the point! He actually takes the time to BRIEFLY explain step by step for us ladies doing these kind of things at home, and not assuming only guys r watching & skipping basic steps that they know, but we don't👍 i actually put my working gloves on😄 followed this video and got it done ✔ Disposal up and running again! Disposals can take a lot of abuse. If they become abnormally quiet, (still runs but super quiet), be sure to grab a Flashlight & peer down into the hole. I can’t tell you how many dishcloths I’ve found in them, & if left in there long enough, will start kicking out the Overload or worse, could eventually cause enough resistance to burn up the Disposal if the overload doesn’t kick off! 👌

Thank you, it saved me hours of unnecessary work. I have been dreading taking the unit down, checking for debris and replacing. It took longer to find the Allen wrench, than to apply to the bottom of the unit, turn and reset. Unbelievable!!
I liked! THIS was the video that got my disposal working again. I was using the wrong size Allen Key. I wasn't feeling any resistance and you said you should if the blades are being stuck. So then it dawned on me: the key isn't big enough. Found a bigger key, found the resistance, knocked it out, and boom, disposal works again! Thanks!

Yeah.. imagine, a plumber would probably charge $150 - $ 200 to do what you just learned in this video.
I am facing similar issue. I followed these instructions - Cleared the debris, rotated the blades using hex key. The blades are moving freely .... but the garbage disposal is still making humming noise. How to fix it ? Go for new one ?

Many years later coming in to say you saved me a call to the plumber ! Also the Alan Wrench I used is 1/4 Inch in case anyone wasn’t sure size .
$8 later for a bigger set of Alan wrenches and my drain works good as new haha

Thanks. My wife dropped a knife in our disposal. We got the handle out but the blade was still in there and we couldn't find it. Cranking the disposal with the hex wrench did the job and saves a lot of aggravation and money.

Thanks Sam, I boiled some hot water, poured baking Soda and white Vinegar down the drain then the hot water, three different times within 24 hours to get the grime loosen then I did exactly what you said!! Thank you so much!

Oh my god thank you!! I did it what you said right and now it works.
I hate knowing that there are so many ladies & gents out there that don’t know that a lot of things around the home can be fixed easily, with the right tools & when shown. I’ve went to neighbors & friends homes & fixed the simplest of things, but I never judge... they simply don’t know or have never been shown. Great Video & Explanation here! 👌 If your single like I am, the ladies will love you if you don’t overcharge. I usually ask if they can cook & end up getting a call a few days later to pick up some awesome food or even a dessert. I normally do these smaller projects at No Charge because I have the needed tools as I was in Industrial Maintenance for years. I don’t charge folks or friends for these things, but there certainly are many that do because it’s simply their Livelihood. Kudos to the Gents that share these Videos because we are all being hit with Overcharging from Banks to Drs, to our Meds & Healthcare. Even bottled water cost more than a Gal of gas if you calculate per Gal. If these Billionaire Establishments could Charge for the Air you breathe, they would. It’s unreal how fast your hard earned Cash can be eaten up by the Rich & Greedy. It truly makes me sick & it makes me feel good to say No Charge! I’d rather earn a friend & a Thank You! Makes My Day!!!
