    Thank you utuber1000 for suggesting it and Todd for demonstrating and testing it! I've been looking for something similar to the Switchmate for my apartment, but all the reviews say it no longer works with Alexa. Glad to see a working alternative exists!

    Another great video Todd. How is it you don't have more subscribers yet? You are in my top 3 for smart home stuff. While I have already changed all my switches to smart ones, I do appreciate the effort you put in to your videos.

    Another bullseye! Thanks for that Todd and youtuber1000. I live in an older house with all toggle switches. There is a light switch for the garage that is frequently left on and this looks like a great solution for remotely turning it off.

    Hi Todd. Another great view. Thanks for including the steps where you had to adjust the spacers. I've been using the gen 2 version for about a year now and it has been perfect. The gen 2 model had a different mounting method, but the gen 3 method looks great.

    Hi Todd do you need the hub by ThirdReality in order for this switch to work with Alexa. I tried pairing the device with Alexa but it cannot find the device. Please help and thanks.

    • @twHomeShow
      @twHomeShow  2 года назад

      No, it's a zigbee device and I was able to pair it directly to Alexa. But you must have an Alexa that has a hub built-in.

    Great video, exactly what I needed, thank you! Do you know if there’s a remote that will work with the Zigbee once I’ve attached it and setup my echo device? My bathroom has an old toggle light switch in the most inconvenient place possible, so I was hoping that once I turned the toggle into a smart switch, there might be a remote for it that I can stick right outside the door and push on instead of using voice commands every time? 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Thank you sooo much for the video. I hope you will have time to answer this question. How can I use this switch in an automation, if there is another switch controlling the same light? Switch#1 might still be on ON position because someone else turned off the light at e other switch.
    So if my routine asks switch#1 to turn on but it’s toggle is already on(but light off) what can I do?

    Hi Todd - thanks for a great video! We have not upgraded our Alexa echo dots to Gen 4 yet. We ultimately want to set up these switches in multiple rooms that currently have 3rd gen echos in them. Do I need to upgrade to 4th gen, which has the hub in it, in every room if I want to control them verbally through Alexa from those rooms? Or can I get one 4th gen and once the switches are set up they become part of my Alexa network, so that I can command them from rooms that only have 3rd gen Alexa echo dots? Thanks!

    • @twHomeShow
      @twHomeShow  3 года назад

      Hi Jan. Yes, you only new one alexa with a hub in your household. All your other alexas will operate any smart device connected to your one alexa w/hub 😀 -Todd

    Very interesting but too many downsides IMO. Mechanical device that will fail much sooner than typical light switch ending up in landfills as well as the batteries.

    Well, the No hub is a lie. I’m an apartmeht dweller. The zigbee switch does need a hub. It only works with certain hubs. Does not work with Echo Show 8. It will not work solely with Alexa app unlike Switchbot. The real plus is the design because it won’t fall of the wall if it takes a hit like Switchbot. My preference would be Switchbot, if you don’t have kids or rowdy roommates, because it doesn’t require a hub or certain hub.

      A little over a year. It depends on how often the switch is used.
