  • This was my first time returning trackside since I hurt my left knee back in late May (Memorial Day Monday to be specific), FINALLY!
Because the weather was on the colder side as well as being windy, I will only spend a few hours this time (call it a mini railfanning day trip if you will). Also, I did not use much of the two-camcorder setup due to the wind.
The highlight of the day was an eastbound ethanol train with another Norfolk Southern heritage unit on the point, NS 8099 "Southern". I can now add another NS heritage unit showing up on CSX trackage (I've seen a few of them in the past showing up on CSX trackage, specifically the Mohawk Sub and the River Line).
I spent much of the day chilling at the Lock 14 spot until sundown, when the train action hit another multi-hour lull (not counting Amtrak's).
Overall, I was really glad that I could be out trackside for a few hours, can't complain!
Video timestamps (note: not related to time the train's head end passed me):
    0:00 Title
Yosts, NY - Near milepost 190
0:50 Eastbound ethanol (L) B741 (NS 8099 "Southern Heritage" lead)
Palatine Bridge, NY - Lock 14
    2:58 Eastbound intermodal I162 (CSX 7028 lead)
5:17 Eastbound mixed freight M560 (CSX 927 lead)
7:17 Eastbound mixed freight M566 (CSX 3333 lead)
*I missed westbound intermodal I003 while getting some lunch
8:45 Westbound mixed freight M565 (CSX 5106 lead)
9:43 Easbound Amtrak Lakeshore Limited P048 (AMTK 116 lead)
10:24 Eastbound mixed freight M368 (CSX 7036 lead)
12:26 Eastbound intermodal I104 (CSX 3314 lead, train symbol recently changed from I004)

Awesome video, Allen! I still think you are the best railroad video guy on RUclips, between all the different camera angles you do, the information you put in the video, the transitions, everything is fantastic!

Thank you! The 8099 was the first of the NS heritage units I have seen back when they were brand new back in 2012.

This video looks great! What camera do you use?

Thank you! My main camera is the Sony FDR-AX700 camcorder, which I recently heard it was discontinued :( and I do use a Sony FDR-AX53 camcorder as a B-cam facing the other direction (whether I decide to use it or not is due to factors like how windy the day is - because if I have the B-cam on one side of the tracks and I'm on the other side, I don't want to have anything blowing over, which have happened to me before).

@@alcheng1000 Thanks for the response! I use an AX53 as my main camera but your video looks way sharper. I've been looking to upgrade for a bit now.

    Where do you find timetables?
