I saw an interview with Mark very recently where he said some tracks have fallen off the setlist because they don't have a high energy feel when performing live, and the band doesn't seem to feel it. I think he specifically named Shed My Skin, which is a real shame, because it's a great one.
Thats very very sad to hear but its their decision and maybe they will play it someday for a live dvd or the next time with parallax Orchestra.....to me it would not make any sense doing another Show with the orchestra while keeping like 50% of the first show, especially with the standard Myles always puts on their shows ..... when they do another run at it they will change at least 66% of the setlist i think
They played Shed My Skin back in 2017 in Portugal. That song means a lot to me (specially that year specifically). My very first concert ever, my favorite band, rough year, and hearing Myles saying: This is call "Shed My Skin", I just burst into tears. Epic moment I'll never forget.
I'd like to hear Losing Patience, Walking on the Sky, and Indoctrination in their sets. Maybe if they do a live album on this current album cycle they'll throw us some bones.
Maybe, yeah. Though I'm not sure where they would do it, other than at the O2 Arena gig in December. They've already done a live album there though, so idk if they'd want to repeat that
@@count3rcultured I think it's possible we could get a Live at the O2 Arena 2 or Live in Amsterdam 2 but if they do a live album during this tour I think it'll most likely be at the OVO Hydro is Glasgow or AO Arena in Manchester. And I'd imagine they'd probably want to do one since they now have 2 whole albums of material to work with for a live album.
One of my all time favorite AB's songs is Wayward one, and i think i've only seen one video of them performing it live, so not entirely sure how much they performed it, but i wouldn't be surprised if it was dropped due to solo difficulty. Still, would love to see it played live
Wayward One is one of my favorites too and I was actually surprised to see it not included in the Royal Albert Hall set. I think it would have been perfect with the orchestra in the background.
Was lucky enough to hear Coeur d'Alene live in Spokane, WA once. Still trying to figure out how I'm flying up and attending their two Spokane shows this year.
Thanks man! Was not expecting this one to become as successful as it has, but I'm certainly not complaining. Now I gotta figure out why it's doing so well and try to recreate it... 🧐
I just want them to bring out Fable of the Silent Son from Pawns & Kings for the US tour. I’ve been following their European tour on Facebook and so far, they haven’t played it. It’s a masterpiece and one of my favorites from the new album. I also love Words Darker Than Their Wings, but I get why they don’t play it. That high note at the end has to take a toll on Myles’ vocal cords.
I'll be seeing them in Manchester in a few weeks, and have been keeping a check on the setlists there been doing for the European tour so far. A little surprised they've played only the 4 singles from the new album so far, and even more surprised that Watch Over You has been dropped for the most part (which is a shame cos that song especially means a lot to me). I can kinda understand given Myles has been playing it for the better part of 15 years, and I guess In Loving Memory is a bit of a fresher and more rarer listen in comparison. They're of that ilk where they can simply play anything and I'm guaranteed to have an amazing night - love their music so much.
I saw Myles this year on his solo tour and he played All Ends Well. It was incredible but he indeed modified it and went lower. Super intense moment however and I am so glad I was there.
4:18 who shits on The Last Hero? What are their names? I just want to have a conversation. Like who on earth hates songs like This Side of Fate, Crows on a Wire, Cradle to Grave & Losing Patience? Who?
Alter Bridge are one of the few bands that, in my opinion, don’t have a bad song in their catalogue. I definitely have albums I prefer over others, but man they’re master class. I Know It Hurts and Calm the Fire are two songs I would love to become regulars.
I think I recall seeing a video of a performance of this one. Either way, it has a couple of the finest moments from Fortress - Myles falsetto intro and one of Mark's best guitar leads ever - and deserves more exposure no doubt
I was fortunate enough to see them on their very first tour. They played the whole album, rearranged of course, and some covers. I know they played "Crazy Train"...
I saw them on the first UK tour, they played every song from the first album with a couple of covers. I saw them when they came back to UK six months later and they played all but shed my skin, but added an epic whole lotta Rosie cover.
I was lucky to see wdttw live at the royal albert hall. It would be good for the band to change up the setlist once in a while, I’ve seeing almost the same setlist since the fortress tour. Some of their “less known songs” are better than the actual singles.
Feel absolutely the same. Before tomorrow comes, Ghosts of days gone by, Isolation and Rise Today all definitely need to be retired from live shows at this point.
I can see why they might not perform Find the Real at every show bcuz of the crazy notes that Myles has to hold during his performance. And by the way, another great analysis. Keep up the great work! #alterbridgerocks
I've always wanted to see Cry a River... and also All Ends Well & Losing Patience, but at least we can enjoy the acoustic versions that Myles has done!
Great video Justin… I’m still waiting a band to be bold enough to put out a B-Sides tour… that would fit perfect with AB as the list of amazing b-sides are long… and I’m sure true fans would love to see that…
Thanks for this. Everything said makes perfect sense. That said...I just saw them last week in Nashville. The show was fantastic but I was disappointed by the set list. Seven of the 16 songs were from their first two albums. They played one song from Walk the Sky and NONE from The Last Hero. So to a degree the set list wasn't all that different from when I saw them touring in support of ABIII over 12 years ago. I'd have liked a more balanced representation of their work.
I understand the frustration, I wish more songs were played from the last four albums as well. Ultimately, I'm okay with the current setlist for now since I've only seen them live twice, but for anyone who's been to many shows over the years, I can see how it would be disappointing
I watched countless earlier performances from the One Day Remains-Blackbird era,, as well as looked at set lists from that period. The only song I recall being completely neglected is Break Me Down - I think it may have neve been performed. Pretty solid track from their superb sophomore effort. Haven't seen it mentioned here either - one of the most obscure of AB songs
Show Me A Sign and Falllout are both in my top 3 AB songs for their darkness and intricacy, (from a composition point of view, these songs are masterpieces) but it's understandable why playing it live wouldn't work. I kinda hoped they would have played one of them with the Parallax Orchestra, but alas.
This is an interesting idea for a video. It's tough to actually know why a song doesn't get performed live without interviewing someone in the band. Despite the fact we can only speculate for most unperformed songs, I thought the video did a good job of taking general reasons why any band might not perform songs live and connecting them to Alter Bridge, even though there isn't much known about why they don't perform specific songs. It's a tricky topic, but handled very well. Thanks.
I saw an interview with Myles where he mentioned that when they were working on the Last Hero, "Crows on a Wire" was written an instantly they thought that would be the album's first single. But they wrote more songs and by the time the album was done and they were touring, that song didn't even make the live set list initially
@@count3rcultured I thought so too! To me, that's the only album that doesn't fit with the rest of the discography. I wonder if releasing that first would have changed the way the album was received.

I am so tired of seeing addicted to pain, wouldn't you rather and other songs from one day remains take away from even their new record. They are a band that can play deep cuts and impress way more

I think if you check out the comments of many Reddit and Facebook posts over the last few months, you'll find a lot of people would like to hear more of their new stuff.
All Ends Well may be one of my favorite AB songs, but i can 100% understand why they'll never perform it live. The vocals are just too demanding for a whole tour and it wouldn't be worth the risk of Myles damaging his voice sadly.
@@crisdepaula6461 Yeah but from what i've seen it's a more tame version compared to the album's... Although since this comment i found out about his solo albums and it's surprising that he doesn't change around the last part of Worried Mind when playing live which has very high notes as well, although not as high as All Ends Well.
I could be simple and just say that I want them to play The Uninvited, Cry A River, and Last Of Our Kind more. But now that I'm following their tour in real-time for the first time, I'm not really concerned about that anymore. What I think they should do is vary their setlist more. My complaints about their current setlist are: 1) They're not playing enough new songs. It's never happened before that they only play the singles at the start of the tour. They've been doing exactly that for ten shows straight, even dropping some of them from time to time. Now I wouldn't really have a problem with switching some of them out (looking at you, Sin After Sin), but not in favor of older songs, or just to play less songs. Speaking of which... 2) They're not playing enough songs, period. On the tour for The Last Hero, they were playing 18-20 songs not including the dueling guitar solos section. Even at the beginning of this tour, they played 18 songs. That quickly dropped to 17, then to 16, and there's no solo section or anything like that. 3) Some of the staples have been dropped without explanation. Last tour it was Ties That Bind that got the boot, this tour it's Come To Life and Watch Over You. I'm sure they could rotate Ties That Bind and Come To Life in the setlist sometimes, because after all, they've played the songs so many times that they're probably muscle memory by now. And dropping Watch Over You in favor of In Loving Memory is a bad move. In Loving Memory isn't as well known to casual fans as Watch Over You, and for first time concertgoers (like me!) I'm sure Watch Over You would be sorely missed. I really hope they bring it back by the time I see them. By the way, Come To Life was in the tuning sheet in the promo clip for the tour, so I expect that one will show up soon in the setlist. 4) Less of a problem, but they said they would play songs from Walk The Sky to make up for not touring in support of that album as much as they wanted to. Notice that "songs" is plural. Yet they've only done two songs from that album, and Native Son was only played once. So Wouldn't You Rather has an almost permanent spot in the setlist that could easily be given to other songs from Walk The Sky, if not other songs from other albums.
These are all fair complaints. I've been wondering about the shortened set myself, like maybe they've had to trim it due to the difficulty of the set. Could also be due to conditions set by the venues, but we don't have a way of confirming that. I'm hoping things will change when they hit the States, but I have no evidence to suggest they will. No matter what, I'll be happy with seeing AB perform, but there are definitely some things I'd like to see over the current set
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure but my guesses would be that it's either too tough, or it gives off the wrong vibe for a show. I could see it working well for a concert like the Royal Albert Hall, but not a standard show
Unfortunately, I don't know Godsmack's music nearly enough to accurately explain why they'd skip certain songs. My input would be too vague and I doubt anyone would get much from it

I agree with you on having more new songs/albums by these gents compared to trying to satisfy everyone in a gig.
why isn't "calm the fire" being played live in your opinion?
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure but my guesses would be that it's either too tough, or it gives off the wrong vibe for a show. I could see it working well for a concert like the Royal Albert Hall, but not a standard show

😉☺️
Zero, amazing song
Hell yeah, wish this one would be played live too!
awesome,do the same maybe for godsmack?
Unfortunately, I don't know Godsmack's music nearly enough to accurately explain why they'd skip certain songs. My input would be too vague and I doubt anyone would get much from it
all bands do this- not enough time in a set
Watch over you never played by the entire band
Tbh I don’t know of their music, maybe a few songs here and there
Then I recommend you check them out! Lots and lots of good stuff from AB and all their side projects
Indoctrination is not a good song, it seems a incompleted song imo
Blackbird, Metallingus, White Knuckles should be staple tracks at every AB concert!!
