One of my friends had to get her foot removed because of this. She also suffers bad depression. My heart goes out to her.

I have facial scarring from a car accident that affected me for years. But, I can only imagine the pain and heartless treatment this lady has experienced throughout her life. Very strong woman. I applaud her.
I suffer from Type II. I'm covered with cafe au lait spots. I also suffer from chronic pain. I have tumors on my spine. We have one child. She's 21 now and has shown no signs. And for that I'm truly grateful.

The fact that people would insult and bully her for just being born different proves how many horrible parents we have in the world. Instead of insulting this woman, we should be learning from her, to understand what this is and to know that even though it is technically uncommon it still does happen. Does she look strange? I am so glad to see this. As a teacher in special education I worked with a family of kids who had neurofibromatosis and it was a struggle to get people to stop asking questions and be kind to the kids. As adults we need to take responsibility to help others.

I've known about NF for about 45 years. When I was young, I spent a lot of time in Miami Children's Hospital and there was a woman who worked there that had NF. However, I never realized how painful it is or that you can get tumors on the inside of your body as well. Thank you for being brave enough to educate the public and helping others with this disease. The mom’s strength and beauty is evident through her daughter. I know some very ‘beautiful’ people who have raised children to be hateful, uncaring and just plain mean. You can tell how much love is between them and THAT is absolutely beautiful.
I have type 1 neurofibromatosis. All of my tumors which are into the thousands, are internal. I have had nine back surgeries, a few leg surgeries and multiple abdomen surgeries. They do cause chronic pain. Which I have dealt with the majority of my life. Thankfully none of my tumors are external. This lady has been through so much more than I could ever have imagined. Her bravery is very admirably.

Research the science of epigenetics, you'll see that genes can be turned on and off, even in someone who "has a genetic disease/condition". Genes are not a guarantee, just a possibility with the right variables (toxins, deficiencies, etc) to turn conditions/diseases on. Bruce Lipton is very well-known for his work in epigenetics. Anyone suffering with this, have hope, do research, it's possible you don't have to suffer.

I have facial scarring from a car accident that affected me for years. But, I can only imagine the pain and heartless treatment this lady has experienced throughout her life. Very strong woman. I applaud her.
I suffer from Type II. I'm covered with cafe au lait spots. I also suffer from chronic pain. I have tumors on my spine. We have one child. She's 21 now and has shown no signs. And for that I'm truly grateful.

I feel so bad that she had to go through such a horrible childhood with this. People are truly disgusting. It isn't her fault she was born with this, nor her mother's, or her grandmother's. The fact that people would insult and bully her for just being born different proves how many horrible parents we have in the world. A child who would rather insult than learn from someone with this is proof that the parents of that child failed to raise them properly. Instead of insulting this woman, we should be learning from her, to understand what this is and to know that even though it is technically uncommon it still does happen. Does she look strange? Of course she does, but so do we. There's no reason to hate her for how she was born. The strangeness is what makes her human, what makes her more beautiful than any of the clones we have running around today.

I am so glad to see this. As a teacher in special education I worked with a family of kids who had neurofibromatosis and it was a struggle to get people to stop asking questions and be kind to the kids. As adults we need to take responsibility to help others.

I've known about NF for about 45 years. When I was young, I spent a lot of time in Miami Children's Hospital and there was a woman who worked there that had NF. However, I never realized how painful it is or that you can get tumors on the inside of your body as well. Thank you for being brave enough to educate the public and helping others with this disease. By the way, the first thing I noticed about you is your incredibly beautiful eyes - even before I noticed the bumps.

with Electrodessication, those do not come back. They only come back if you have them "cut off".
The mom’s strength and beauty is evident through her daughter. I know some very ‘beautiful’ people who have raised children to be hateful, uncaring and just plain mean. You can tell how much love is between them and THAT is absolutely beautiful.

I have type 1 neurofibromatosis. All of my tumors which are into the thousands, are internal. I have had nine back surgeries, a few leg surgeries and multiple abdomen surgeries. They do cause chronic pain. Which I have dealt with the majority of my life. Thankfully none of my tumors are external. This lady has been through so much more than I could ever have imagined. Her bravery is very admirably.

I have the same disease except mine are all internal, I have like 2k internal ones :( I will not have kids because I would never pass it on. I've already had cancer from it. Mine are all internal, just like her I suffer so much. I want to make a blog about it

same! im really sorry to hear about the cancer, thats kinda rare from my understanding, mine are not cancerous but i do have sever spinial issues, it affected my bones. you can try IVF for the babies, thats what im going to do, to take the gene out. i got it spontaniously, which sucks. i cant have any removed because they go through my chest and lungs, heart ect.
Research the science of epigenetics, you'll see that genes can be turned on and off, even in someone who "has a genetic disease/condition". Genes are not a guarantee, just a possibility with the right variables (toxins, deficiencies, etc) to turn conditions/diseases on. Bruce Lipton is very well-known for his work in epigenetics. Anyone suffering with this, have hope, do research, it's possible you don't have to suffer.

Past the tumors, she is beautiful. She needs to be more confident in herself and just be herself. She is a really nice person and I hope that a medication of sort is developed that treats this condition.
