Can't wait plane looks awesome...
Had a couple of Finwing Penguins that flew superbly and had them for many years.
Thank you Andrew, hope the weather clears up soon for you.
I predict it’s a good sloper:-)
It does look like a satisfying build with it's good quality and simple design
Really nice design!
Awsum work Andrew well done bud
Looks a really nice model. Look forward to the maiden.
always wanted to get a finwing Saber great video again Sir Andrew as always take care
Great review. Looking forward to the maiden. :)
Drinking some coffee, listening the soothing piano/tachy foam sounds ;)
Ha, music set the mood for a rainy build day
Well I just ordered one. I like the bigger chord than the Binary and the lack of the unwanted light fittings, also the motor mounts look to be quite streamlined I've been looking for a twin for ages, but never had heard of these before. I need an FPV plane smaller than my SkyHunter 1800mm which I love but is huge to get in the car.
Nice looking plane.
You wont be needing that BBQ in that weather Andrew.
I bet the cats are in the dry. 👍
very nice. reminds me of a Twinstar updated for FPV payloads.
I love the look of this🎉 I have the Reptile Dragon 2 but would love to add this to the collection
I still have mine. It's a great workhorse
It is a pretty model to look at. I am a sucker for twin motor setups :D
nice looking plane
Thenks
Having the same issues here Andrew. The weather has been awful!
I like twin engine 👍
Hi Andrew,
Nice build. We have been having the same kind of storms lately.
wonderful video :)
i like it
I caved in and ordered the Albabird, realy looking forward to this model
Excellent, it's a great model with no bad habits.
@@AndrewNewton Happy days, my Albabird arrived today, no damage at all she is perfect, started the build already, gonna love this one
Wot site did you buy this from having trouble finding it
@@erniestory7223 have to buy direct from Finwing china
the maiden is done....superb plane, put a couple of video`s up on my main channel
пойду на пенсию, тоже буду самики каждый день собирать))
HAHAHA it s so fun you put you r video online , and it s like they r website is dying ! :)
That looks like it will be a great model, your garage must be getting really full of planes, and looks like you have the weather we just had....biblical rainfall
We had hail storms yesterday!
I think you will fall in love with those control horns😂
Haha, I think a decent nylon control horn would be enough
Looks great. I have seen the travel case plane they made..
Didn't fly that great sadly.
Hope this is different. Great vids. Look forward to the flight.
This looks good. I can't wait to see how it fly's. Wish I had seen this one before I bought the Binary .
Really? Tell me more why you dont like the binary. I am deciding between these and would LOVE to hear why you like the albabird more!
Thanks!!
@@sharpnesstherapy502 The Binary looks good. All of the reviews that I have seen are positive. At the time I made this post I hadn't received it in the mail yet. I still haven't flown it yet either because of the winter. It seems like a solid aircraft though. Much easier to put together too than the Albabird.
Wow mate! I will be in Melbourne in one week, and Sidney in two. Hope that rain puts out the fires!
The fires up north are really bad at the moment. Freezing cold and wet down here.
Even got the central heating on here. Interesting that the fuse section that accommodates the wing connection (don't know the word for it) looks like it would take a much larger wing.
He really has a nice look....
So.... A larger wing chord doesn't necessarily translate to a larger Coefficient of lift. It depends of the CL of the airfoil at that reynolds numbers, and the numbers change with only the Chord. a low aspect ratio also comes with some inherent disadvantages, such as greatly increased drag, especially when maneuvering, or operating at a high angle of attack, for any reason, such as at a low speed, high G-load in any orientation, such as a tight turn. An airfoil which has a thinner chord can also produce a high CL with less wing area, in many cases.
One example of this are the wings of the majority of the de-havilland aircraft created for STOL that are still flying today. The wing must redirect the air (mass) downward in a shorter distance of travel (chord).
Overall, looks like a good design except fo the drawbacks of large wing chord- larger shift of the low pressure bubble creating instabiliy in pitch at higher angles of attack. this can be compensated for by moving the CG forward, but in cruise flight, efficiency will be lost.
There are probably design considerations other than flight efficiency that have shaped this plane, like 1100mm wingspan, building down to a budget, easy disassembly, carrying capacity. Very different to your stunning Gemini.
Looks like a smaller and chunkier version of the Twinstar which you could say was one of the first readily available twin engined foam models. I must really drag my old brushed one down from the shelf and finish the brushless conversion
Wow, Twinstar must have been around for ages if you have a brushed version.
@@AndrewNewton Bought it as part of a job lot but not flown it yet
Its a great plane, had mine a while (few videos on my YT channel for anyone interested). She flies great and effortlessly.
Hmmm, Looking forward to the skywalker :-)
Such a complete model! It looks like an Reptile Dragon with a better tail and worse foam and motor mounts lol.
It looks a lot bigger than 1100, looks like it will be a slow ? fun fly, I still haven't flown my last two because of the weather :-( great vid, I look forward to the flight :-)
Damn weather!
A good utilitarian contender to the Binary. I extended the wing chord on my Binary by 10mm with sharp trailing edges to improve it's efficiency.
It wouldn't be needed with this one.
Hopefully I'll find out today
Awesome build Andrew! I do see an issue I do not like about the plane, those ESC's are in a bad spot imo. Id rather have them inside the fuse.
Perfect spot for good cooling however.
Have you done any testing with twin motor setups with counter rotating props turning 1 way vs the other? I.e. top of prop tips turning towards or away from each other
Dont think it actually makes much difference. I'll test with this one.
That is a pretty girl, twin engine🥰
Andrew, can you please read the instructions for uhu por on the tube and confirm. The uhu por here in the UK is not a contact adhesive (if you read the instructions on the tube) it is just apply and push surfaces together and allow to dry.
UHU website explains how it to use it.
Nice looking plane, looking forward to maiden. Question: how long do you let the uhu por set before final assembly?
1 minute for a join that can be repositioned, or until it's touch dry for an instant grip, maybe 5 min
@@AndrewNewton Thank you, that explains why I couldn't reposition something after 10 minutes, like the package said. I appreciate the helpful info
Upgrade from the sonic model binary.
Just a different approach to the same idea I guess.
all the strong fittings that plane has and they didnt bother with proper control surface hinges, its like they reached a point and said ahh fuck it, that will do.
Horizontal tail plane looks a little small
It's quite deep, an odd shape really
Would ask you to mail some of that rain up this way, but it would only get damaged & leak out with the way Aus Post seems to be going these days... :'(
Ha, it would be diverted and delivered to the wrong state
Nice bird Andrew, have to say those Sunnyskys are going to be too much for it tbh, and those giant ESCs...hanging out all over the place...What were they thinking?
They are my ESCs, the only matched ones I had handy.
Oh, I see, they supply the motors but not the ESCs...Im guessing the motors are going to be far to much for this model. Be interesting if you fit smaller ones with less amp consumption, not that SS motors are bad you understand.
"Unpretentious!" good choice of words as I agree that it looks rather bland, just hope she flies well.
How close are the props to the Fuselage?
Also Mate, I think you need to extend your shed!!
8" props just fit. My plane count stays pretty stable, new in - old out.
@@AndrewNewton :: More like Good in and Crap out?
It's best long range??yes or no??
Bigger models like the Crosswind mini would be able to carry more battery but the Albabird is excellent. I'm not really a long range expert
Hmm albabird...wonder if they thought albatross was patented er sumthin lol
White Bird (or it could be Scottish Bird)
