Not even remotely true. In the 2014-15 season he was not even handling the ball when Curry was in. He averaged LESS than HALF the assists Steph put up. Yes, Dray can put the ball in guys hands for the bucket, but we can't and shouldn't act like he's this otherworldly floor general that's head and shoulders above other passers on his team. If Steph wasn't this off-ball machine, half of Drays assists evaporate. I'm not discrediting him - but when people call him the facilitator for being the last point of action in a play, I really doubt what people see in the game. He's got plenty of IQ, but the plays where he gets the assists are more often than not, just set-plays and 2 on 1 situations created by whoever he set the screen for. He's essentially credited because a gap in the offense and NOT being selfish.
Now on DEFENSE, that's where he should be getting credit - aregubly more than what he already gets, because "quarterbacking" the defense takes a ton of focus. That's where other guys take a backseat and listen

Paraphrasing here, but Moses moody recently said on Dray’s pod that having the threat of draymond behind him in the paint makes defending easier as ball handlers will almost hesitate to dribble in the direction he is on the floor. Everyone in the league knows dray is a DPOY day in and day out and will move differently just to avoid going through him. If you wanna consider the gravity Steph has on offense, dray basically has the same effect on defense just in the opposite way. That’s why the two’s talents have meshed so well and for so long
