Rose candy apples inspired by @emsfoodiefix ! INGREDIENTS: Granny Smith apples Apple sticks (I used natural non toxic twigs) 4 cups granulated sugar 1 cup corn syrup 1 1/2 cups water Red food coloring Place the sugar, corn syrup, water, and food coloring into a large saucepan and stir to combine. Allow the mixture to come to the boil, removing once it reaches 300F- you will need to check this with a candy thermometer. Please be careful as this is very hot! Press the sticks into the apples and dry each one as much as possible to avoid bubbles in the coating. Dip each apple into the hot candy syrup, then transfer to a greased rose silicone mold. Allow apples to cool and set.
Please remember to be careful using natural sticks versus aesthetic fake sticks, should you recreate this! A stick can easily push bacteria into the apple's flesh, as well as invite insect activity. That said, these are beautiful! (:
You're supposed to bake wood in the oven at boiling temperature for like half an hour or so to kill bacteria and insects. Sure, it doesnt kill a tiny extremist minority of spores (i think you'd need 150°Celsius for that) but it kills most bacteria, insects, and mold, which makes them way safer. Especially if the apple is consumed within a day or two.
@Call-me-Al Ohhh, good idea! My only concern then would be the potential for more splintering? I'm not as familiar with wood crafts, though, so I just hope that everyone looking to recreate this doing so as safely as possible. (:

In Brazil, where this candy was created, we called this "maçã do amor" which means "Apple of love". It's typical in a fest of Saint John - our machtmaker saint. :)
"Maçã do Amor" is a typical Brazilian dish, created here in Brazil by a family of Spanish origin in 1954, just as it is made in the video, with a red sugar syrup and a wooden stick for consumption. It is sold at fairs and June festivals to celebrate Valentine's Day. 🇧🇷🇧🇷🥰
@@NoudlePipW No problem at all. Yes, Valentine's Day is celebrated on June 12th in Brazil because it's the eve of the tribute to Santo Antônio, the patron saint of marriage, which falls on the 13th. My first thought was why not use fake ones, they must have thousands of miniscule bugs in normal sticks. Absolutely beautiful candy apples tho tbh
