Well. If my 10 years of sim racing have taught me something is that for a consistent and sucessful race you need two things only : Patience and Pace. Unless you´re in a drag race, these two things will help you to be always at front. Practice a track until you have it on your muscular memory. 100 laps in a track is mandatory. Also, people think setups does miracles. They drive 10 laps in track and goes to the setup screen hoping for a miracle setting to give then 0.5 seconds down the time table. This is not gonna happen. Go back to the track and drive, until you absolutely can´t shave anything else from your times, and at least can do consistently 7 or 10 laps at the same pace. Then, just then you go back to pit an try to tweak your car. Pole position is awesome, but it´s over estimated. The pressure is always on P1. Use that in your advantage if you´re P2, and don´t try to win the race on the first corner. And finally. Practice is everything. Some people practice more, and have more time than you do, and they will suceed more. But don´t let this keeping you from having fun online. Offcourse, we all wanna win races and be at the top of the podium. But racing is much more , you can still enjoy a good race being in the middle field, battling for positions, defending, overtaking. But this is personal, i know. Some people don´t have fun if they don´t win. It´s sad. I wish they could. I said finally but there´s on more tip: If you don´t earn money with race sims, it´s a hobby. It´s supposed to be fun and relaxing. Don´t lose your shit online.
Useful info, but for new people I would recommend to concentrate more on learning the track, lines and overall control on the car rather than pace - especially if we talking about race. Remember that you can gain more when being a bit slower, but doing consistent laps, than when pushing too hard, hot lapping, destroying tyres or going off the track. You can easily destroy tyres by one spin and you will loose much more time because of that (spin and then lack of the grip around the track). As you said - it's complex stuff and everybody can struggle in different aspect of simracing :)
Yup was my mistake today practising Imola in the 720. Wanted to push hard every lap and spun me on the kerbs and after taking it easy I am also faster and more consistent
Jardier has to be my favorite sim racer. He is always super positive and funny but makes awesome track guides. Of course, he looks super relaxed putting in times 5 sec faster than me but oh well 🤣
When it comes to pit stops on iRacing, I always pit before we approach a group of backmarkers, especially at tracks hard to get by them like Bathurst. If I feel like I'm faster than the person I'm battling against AND feel like I could lose even just a half a second from a backmarker, I'll pit early. Pulled this so many times at Bathurst, and each time I came out ahead by 2-3 seconds.
Yesterday i did 200laps on zolder with a M4 to learn on my first day Today i am using the F488 (80laps in races), i like that car more and still shaving on my times.
yeah, Jardier, would LOVE to see ANY tutorials you may give us. I'm just getting into ACC, and love it, but find the setup process to be quite daunting. You touch on a few aspects here (TC and ABS), but a tutorial on basic setups (are the standard 'Basic' and Aggressive' good enough for beginners?) would be awesome. Would also like to see more of your streams when you race Emree. She's a fellow Aussie :-)
Turn off the assist “stability control”. Been a year as to why I’m so slow, then found that option and since turning that off my lap times increased but 2 seconds straight away
My 5 tips. Cutting the insides of course. Older f1 games you don't do this , config steering wheel properly this stops over heating tyres , move breaking balance backwards, lowering tyre pressure
Great video Jardier. You are quickly becoming my favorite streamer. Especially in sim-racing. As a new sim-racer, I'm looking to improve where I can to get up to the laptimes you guys are doing. And these videos help guys like me. Keep up with the good work! Piece out from South Africa.
Most important thing is to learn the track before you race on it. There is no shame spending an hour in practice mode. Or racing against AI. It'll help you build up pace and consistency for the real racing. Nothing worse than hopping into a race online, then causing a massive crash in the last lap because you didn't know how your car would handle with worn out tires on that track.
Definitely need a braking tutorial, super new to acc, just bought a wheel and really struggling with squirrelling a lot under braking and I think I’m locking rears as I spin a lot especially at imola as I’m braking while turning?
I feel ACC is really not giving any information about wether or not you're locking your rears while braking. It took me a while to realize I was not stopping fast enough due to rears being locked and having softer braking foot started to help me alot on hitting those apexes.
For sure would like some braking tutorials with a pedal cam if possible. Just learning the game and would like to get a better understanding of trail braking.
I would be faster probably if my G29 shifter paddles would shift properly. I know the cars have limits to shifting but I have played with it and it is definitely the down shift paddle that is causing problems. So, I ordered the Moza R5 package along with the brake mod and clutch pedal. If nothing else, I will verify if it is my fault or that paddle shifter. But either way it will be a good upgrade with direct drive wheel.
A big game changer for me was setting the right steering wheel lock, for example the Ferrari 488 gt3 and Evo must be set on 480°, trust me. Write me for others car steering locks
You are a great very good compliments Could you please pass me a good set-up for the huracan gt3 flap For Qualifications And for the race In Monza please Thank you
It mainly comes down to engine placement. Front engine cars (aston and bentley) are generally more stable, wether on kerbs or not because the weight in the front makes the car want to go straight. Think of them like a badminton ball.
I have serious issues wen trying to under 1:50 at Monza on a controller I had a setup that could get a 1;49 but unfortunately I over right it and now can't find anywhere it driving me mental to the point were I just want to give up
Setups are unfortunately probably just as important, if not more, as what's in this video. I gained 1.5 seconds with the Audi at the Nurburgring just by copying some toe camber and caster settings from a stream. But when I have no setup, I can't hope to compete with anyone who does. I really wish we had a way to run fixed setups on regular online servers. As long as the setup is good to drive.
it's more like you need a setup that fit to your driving style and that is giving you confidence to push. Some people can be fast on default aggressive setups for one car, but some need totally different setup to control the car. You can gain some time if you cant push because of that, but you cant get magically time with setup (maybe few tenths of a second) ;P
@@TleafarafaelTYeah, but sadly it's just not fun for me. I know enough to make cars drivable but sitting there for hours, tweaking away is not my idea of fun. And then we haven't even mentioned Motec.
@@GuitarCraftMiner if you are talking about AC1, there's an in game app called The Setup Market, you can download setups when in track for your car, do a search in racedepartment about that and download it. Tbh i've never found much time in setups in ACC. Aside from getting the tire pressure right which can make up for seconds. A good setup might gain me .25s per lap. Which isn't insignificant. But isn't night and day either.

ACC is a fully fledged simulator, not an arcade racing game... it takes a lot of time, dedication, understanding and practice to master a GT3 car in this game and become faster. It is not as "easy" as experienced simracers like Jardier make it look like in these fancy videos... like "just be smooth and one with the track" ... seriously? ^^
I kind of disagree with what you said about Misano. I can ride all the kerbs up to the track limits in all mid engine cars because most of them are so flat. You can even see in the video that you're driving on kerbs in the Ferrari (which is mid-engine). I think Zolder would be a better example. That tracks is a nightmare in the Audi lol.

The sooner your car has all the grip between all 4 tires the sooner you can get on a max throttle. Obviously this varies depending on fast vs slow corner. I feel most of these kind of videos don't really help you to get into the top percentile performance.
