I think I have two candidates that would enjoy a dead heat in the form of Nissan 2018 fighting with AMG for the exact same criteria you mentioned and although it is way faster than both regular Lamborghini GT3 cars the Reiter Lambo which is lovely with it's wider body profile but absolutely require proper knowledge, experience and enormous time to achieve comparative performance. I managed to surprise persons in lfm practice lobbies at Zandvoort and also proper dismissed others in a multi-player race at Spa but given the efforts to make it drivable and done before I even had a clue how to use Motec I wouldn't recommend it period let alone for beginners.

I'm wondering if by rookie you mean a rookie to ACC because as a rookie to track racing in general I'd say the most important thing to learn are the tracks and race craft.
Once you have those down *then* you can start worrying about min-maxing your car control. Perfect pedal control doesn't matter in a stable car with TC, but not knowing where to brake for a corner or not knowing how to overtake safely will straight up end your race before it begins.
So until you have a handle on track knowledge and race craft just pick the most stable, easiest car to get around the track lap after lap so you burn those corners into your brain and could drive them blind folded.

Lambo is definitely a bit off the pace, but I think it's actually pretty good as a rookie car because of how driveable it is. For so many rookies the problem isn't lap time, it's consistency, and I think Lambo is pretty easy to drive for a finish.

    • @tirtel1

I’m not looking for anything too in-depth as I know this would be very time consuming, but basic info as to how say adjusting the wing for instance will have an effect on car performance
I say this like it’s an easy topic, which I’m sure it’s not, but it’s one I’m interested in trying to learn, I know a lot of things are trial and error, but I think a basic knowledge on the effects of adjustment would help people like me gain a better knowledge and understanding of where to start 😁

Its traction feels so good, but I am completely unable to handle faster corners that need just a lift, a dab of the brakes or trail braking at high speed. The car immediately wants to swap ends. Tuning the behavior out just seems to gimp the performance everywhere else.

2:40 Really? I started Sim Racing not too long ago and the NSX was my first serious pick.
I was struggling with most cars (The Porsche 911 especially, for obvious reasons) but to me the NSX feels very easy to control.
Sure it sometimes, seemingly randomly, loses control when you hit curbs aggressively but other than that it's a very fun and stable car to me.
It might just be that I've gotten used to the car by now. Just goes to show that everybody has different driving styles so some cars may be much better suited to ones driving style than another - I encourage any newbie here to experiment with car choices.

Somehow I was expecting Jardier to put the Aston Martin V8 on number 1. Yes I know, it's also on 1st place in his top 5 best rookie cars. But the reason I would say it's also the worst, is because it's a trap car. It's safety comes at a price I feel. For a rookie like myself the slow acceleration of the Aston means it's hard to setup an attack. Even having a perfect exit out of a corner, 9 times out of 10 the opponent just pulls away so quickly that it's hard to get that slipstream and overspeed to attempt an overtake in the next breaking zone. But, good car to actually finish races with for me at the moment. :)

      @femkeligtvoet8896 11 месяцев назад +1

@@LITTLEBRAT775081 Very briefly, the lower the car the more downforce is generated by the ground effect. Then there is rake, which is the difference in ride height between rear and the front. The higher the rear is compared to the front, the more rake. This moves the aero balance towards the front, resulting in a car that turns more easily.
Normally, you'd like the car as low to the ground as possible, especially the front. Unless the car starts bottoming out too heavy. Rear ride height can be adjusted to balance the car. Lower rear moves the balance towards understeer, higher rear height moves the balance towards oversteer.

  • @needsmoreboosters4264
    @needsmoreboosters4264 6 месяцев назад +1

The Porsche can be set up in such a way that it handles quite similarly to other cars. It's mostly down to setting the rear extemely soft to maximize exit grip, running very high rebound and very low bump damping, fairly low bumpstop ranges, and playing with the preload, aero, and other values to make the car feel the way you want it (and doing the setup with very low fuel so you don't lose control once it burns off and shifts the balance toward oversteer). Although this is all probably beyond the understanding of a true beginner. Being able to smoothly left-foot brake and transition from brake to throttle helps a ton, too.

I understand that this is more focused on the more modern and competitive cars, but I'll give a honourable mention to the 650s and V12 Vantage for being extremely hard to set up for any pace whilst being BoP'd to hell and back on most tracks too.
For me, being able to have such a mixed field of older and newer cars (even if the newer ones are more popular for their safety) is one of my loves in GT3 racing, and I'm sure I and some others have been cruelly tempted to take the very pretty but very slow older cars to competitive events only to be struggling at the back.

I have been driving this car since i've started playing ACC a year ago, the first months were horrible on ACC, it takes a lot of time to master this car and what you said about setting the car up very aggressive to drive a good lap is exactly right. However if you learn to master this car (although it takes a lot of time) it is very very satisfying if you actually win races and set very good lap times, i love the aggressiveness of this car, its just something the other cars don't have in ACC in my opinion and that's what i absolutely love about the Porsche. I use the AMG. I picked it because it has the simplest engine mode layout--just 3 options. With only having 3 selections, i can change engine modes quickly on the fly. This has especially helped me at Mt. Panorama, because i can throw it into 1 on the front straight, 2 up the mountain, 3 down the mountain, and back to one down the back straight, back to 2 coming through the chase. Using this method gained me nearly a second on my lap time, and kept my average fuel usage very close to using just 2 throughout the lap. Maybe used half a tenth of a liter more per lap. Worth it. I have a hard time keeping up with the cars that have many more engine modes, and can't change them quickly enough on the fly without it being a distraction.

I would like to add something on the NSX Evo: while I agree with what you've said about the car, there is one point that you didn't mention
that point is, right off the bat, the car has a very, VERY slight understeer that is small enough that you can barely notice it, but strong enough that it sends you off the track easily if you try to take turns at the same speed than the other GT3s. when you take that into account, you tend to yank the steering for the entry, and that's where the oversteer kicks in. it's a very tricky car where the limit is very thin, but oh so rewarding when you can tame its nearly constant understeer and its snap oversteer

Something I've personally found helpful on the 2018 911 GT3 R, the one without splitter (though am oretty much a noob myself) is to NOT rise rear wing too much to stabilise the rear, I was running 12-13 rear wing values for nurburg at the beginning cause I kept losing the rear on schumacher s, but nowadays am running like 7-8 wing and thinking about going lower, why? thing is, you lose the rear in those corners because with 10-12 ish wing the car simply does not want to turn, and as such, you lift, you lift a lot, problem with lifting a lot is that weight suddenly goes forward and grips, rear rises and off it goes, as such you try adding more wing to counter this, and sure you do, but now you're losing a lot of time because your car doesn't want to turn and can't be back on power till way later on, trick to keep it on place is lift LESS so rear doesn't slide but got enough weight on front to turn, if youbuse the version that does have splitter though, sure, you could increase it for consistency, just mind the ballance of the car

Hahahah! as a beginner that loves mid-engined cars, I post my fastest practice times on most tracks with the Lamb and NSX. I was just about to try putting a lot of time into a front engined Merc Evo for a change before this vid. Time for me to stick to the Ferrari Evo and Vantage V8!

I took the Honda for my first rookie league. And i am still in love with it. For some tracks, i need some time to make a stable setup, but if i feel so connected to the car. It might be hard to catch if you loose it. So find a pace, so you dont loose the car. I was somewhere in the midfield 16th of 32 in the end, but i was awarded to bei the most consistent driver of all. And thats the most important thing to learn as beginner. Making a few great laps is great, but it wont get you far If you end in the wall after all.

I started in the nissan GT3 ont eh PS4. The BOP was shocking but it helped me learn all of the ropes of the game. I then transitionedinto the AMG GT3 a few months after and it took me over a year to perfect the AMG and the driving style. It took for ever but it can be seriously quick if you utilise it correctly.

Found that the lexus is really awesome to drive together with the ferrari 488. I was just 1sec faster than the lexus by only driving 3 laps (the first ever). The rest is either oversteering or understeering waaaay too much

Huracan might be slow, but I think it's a very easy to drive, which makes it easy to be consistent with it. Consistency is key in racing.
I started with the Porsche and for me it was a mixed experience. I just love how I can step on the pedal and that lets the car cut straight across all the kerbs in the game with an insane exit speed, it's hilarious. I also like tinkering with the car setup and the Porsche demands that, but just changing the dampening to limit the pitching of the car on breaking/throttle greatly improves stability. The fuel disbalancing the car is very real though, you'll feel like you don't even recognize the car anymore by the end of the race. Definitely had me bewildered when I realized what was going on and it costed me a lot of races.

The BOP for the AMG at Kyalami is hilariously bad. Like it has to be bugged, bad. Finished 12th in pre-qualifying at Monza for the RCI WT22, and 119th at Kyalami. These were also the top AMG times in the results. About a second or more off my own pace compared to basically any other car. Ouch.

Nice list quite agree. Personally i found it funny you put my favourite car at the top. But i agree on the points, but it is a Lambo, it sounds great and looks fast even standing still.
But it really is a pig to drive, i feel it is the most trailbrake demanding car or she just will refuse to turn, and don't brake too hard or the ABS goes nuts.
I tried other cars a lot, and i am a bit faster in the Ferrari, but comming back to the Lambo is like putting on old pants, they aren't the best but i just feel in a good mood in it.

I had to laugh about the Porsche... Before ACC I played a lot of regular AC on the Nordschleife and the Porsches just react so nervous under braking. Whenever I crash with a Porsche it's during (trail)braking. It doesn't compute well in my brain since the GT3 is heralded as a sublime car.

I know the Porsche is one of the worst/most difficult, but after avoiding it for so long (still a rookie) decided to try it out, won my 1st multiclass and finished 6th overall and currently in the lead of the league I am participating in, yes it is difficult but since I completed my 1st hot lap I cant help but drive the Porsche in any league going forward, PLUS being a Patreon of Jardier helps me to get the setup that I can build off to get the multiple setups for the various situations, Thanks Jardier for not just the Patreon and guides, but even your streams help us better understand the courses and cars

Hi. Just wondered what is considered as a rookie in terms of times? I have about 40hrs playtime, most in career so far. My best at Monza is a 1:51:xxx, a 1:57 at Paul Ricard. I got those in career and used the Nissian GT3 Lismo.. 😢. How much faster would I be in a better car? I always use the default aggressive setup.

Wow, I wish I saw this 2 months ago when I began. I only first played career and bombed in the Lamborghini program, so I was only offered a ride in the Porsche. So I was forced to play the whole first half of the career in Porsche and I was blissfully ignorant. The car felt amazing to me, in comparison to how poorly I drove the Lamborghini. Also, for me, the McLaren is the hardest Drive of them all

Disagree about the Lexus. It's by far the easiest car to be quick with out of the box, especially if you don't tinker with setups and just use the stock aggressive one. It is a bit twitchy and oversteery, but if you enjoy FR cars it feels natural. For anyone brand brand new to the game, I agree that some other cars might be more suitable (such as the Ferrari), but the Lexus is the quickest for me.

Same here. For me, its perfect in short sprints and hotlaps. It sounds the part, it feels visceral and alive to drive, and its really easy to setup. It does overheat and wear the fronts pretty badly though when your on the limit and the fuel mileage is pretty poor. I either drive it or the merc.
