so you know i consider no length of video too long when it comes to Battletech Lore as the lore is so rich and detailed that it needs to be told in full so that the new generation can come to love the rich world that is Battletech as it was a large part of my childhood that it helped me define parts of my own life and made me friends that i have kept till this day and our company has been through so many battles together and had so many generations of the same family used as chars that we consider them part of the stories that are Battletech we need more of the old school Battletech and mechwarrior games their is so much to learn and know that would make great games

It was a lengthy detail regarding the Wolfs invasion of New Earth, where the Fidelis were stationed. Since the Fidelis were betrayed by the Republic, Paul Moon made a deal with Alaric where the Fidelis would allow the Wolves to take New Earth, and access the Fortress Republic on the deal that should Wolf win ilClan, they they would remake Clan Smoke Jaguar. Alaric accepted with the stipulation that once CSJ rebuild and prove themselves proper clanners (and not the nihilists they used to be), would CSJ be fully reconstituted.
The Clans were technically successful in their goals to revive Star League.
Imagine spending your whole life told you were destined to revive the Star League from the Inner Sphere barbarians, only to see THEM do it to stop YOUR barbarity.
That is some existential dread right there. They're whole life was a cruel cosmic joke.

This is great, very useful for learning about the Battletech universe.
Paul Moon's story arc had always fascinated me. He started as the bad guy in the Twilight of the Clans series and then had one of the best redemption arcs I'd ever read in Forever Faithful.

I've read the Twilight of the Clans series and you did a great job summarizing it. The details are great but would be hours if you tried covering everything. The Wars of Reaving are almost apocalyptic with the chaos and viciousness so that's gonna be...intense
I am anticipating multiple part videos for WoR. I'm also trying to catch up on my reading so I can say I read the books before making a video for once.

No, this is one of the few decisions that makes sense from the ilClan.
You're also saying this to a Smoke Jag player.
The Second Star League was an illegitimate alliance that wore the corpse of the original Camoran Star League. Their "Annihilation" was not done properly in a trial in the Clan ways.
Past that, the survivors in the form of the Fidelis ended up signing on with the Republic of the Sphere while Victor Steiner-Davion was in the room. The same man who could say he "killed" the Clan.
At the end, even he agreed the Jags paid their penance to humanity and earned their rebirth.
Under the leadership of Paul Moon, the Jags have established themselves of keepers of the true Clan Way, neither warden nor crusader. They are simply stewards to a new Star League as was always originally intended for the Clans (but y'know... Nicky K. Is a sociopath and corrupted that).
Like or hate him, Alaric Ward has a good point by his phrase "Only the Clans decide who dies and lives among us" considering the context of that sentence was him promising vengeance upon the Draconis Combine for nearly wiping out the Nova Cats.
Clan Smoke Jaguar more than any other Clan has the right and the story set up to support their return, same with the Nova Cats. It's not a matter of "wave and they're back". You're missing the narrative reason. Alaric wants to make it known to everyone that the Second Star League was no Star League, so invalidating everything it TRIED to accomplish is the biggest throat punch you can do in a writing sense.
It's very well done, and I'm glad the Jags are back in a new era where they're no longer the assholes. Especially an era where the former Mongol Falcons made anything the Jags did back in the Clan Invasion look like a humanitarian effort in comparison.
I always had mixed feelings about Bulldog and Serpent. On the one hand, the Jaguars were warcriming assholes and absolutely deserved it. On the other hand, they were warcriming Kuritans, which firmly counts as ironic karma and the two of them absolutely deserved each other.

@@Madcat529 I backed the BT clan kickstarter and starter with Mechwarrior 2 so I always had the question of what happened to the clans after the invasion.
MW3 intro mid video just hits different during the story.
I kind of wish you had included when Vlad pointed out what the consumerism of the IS would (in his eyes) lead to in the future.
You should redo video 2, 3, and 4 in this tone, it is amazing!
2 was not done in this style. 3 and onward have all been done in the monotone book reading style.

I remember battletech when I was a kid, no one I knew , played battletech and I was to young to figure it out, now I'm 43 and have just discovered battletech again, any idea of where I should start to get in to battletech, seems like a huge universe to navigate??
Depends where you want to start. Table top game? Fiction? Games? Lots of options!

@@bigt4331 Battletech by HBS is a solid choice. If you want the first person experience, Mechwarrior 5 is also great.
Books wise, depends what your interest is. If you're a clan person like I am, I started with the Blood of Kerensky trilogy and continued on from there. Wikipedia has an entire list of books in order of timeline for the most part.
I can also recommend Tex Talks Battletech for Battletech history, having produced a trio of epic documentaries on the Fall of the Star League, the origins of the Clans and most recently, the origins of Battlemechs
Tbh besides plot armour I dont see how the Clans ever stood a chance vs the Inner Sphere
Reading history helps make this obvious. The clans did exactly what Napoleon and Hitler both did while invading Russia. They had a smaller, better equipped military, but didn’t plan for the logistics of extended supply lines and provisions.

@@Madcat529 Do you somehow have a different version of MW4: Mercs than me? I mean, that was definitely the Halloran IV/Transpax mission, but the HUD looks a bit different than I remember, and my game didn't paint the icons for the ER large lasers green like that.

@@stonewall286 if you are able, read the novella "Trial under fire". It is the canonical telling of the MW3 campaign corrected so it actually fits in lore. IE; no one mechwarrior can take on entire binaries solo as the game suggests. But the events and characters are all there
I thought Victor shot Lincoln, not chopped his head off. Wish I still had the novel to check that.

Clan wolf refusing the result of the trial of refusal, sounds pretty unclanlike to me. A bit lacking in honor there I see.
Not necessarily. You can refute the results on the basis the trial wasn't correct or the person/people who formed it were in not of "right mind" or did so without greater Clan approval
I highly recommend that you find someone to look over your scripts before recording them, and it would probably be for the best if you forget that the word "whom" exists, as you have no idea how to use it. Great content though.
I do have someone, and I re-read my own stuff and edits multiple times to make sure I myself am happy with it.
Moreover, the use of "whom" is correct. If it's incorrect, you might be in a different part of the world with different grammar rules.
