I’m a very new splatoon fan and I’m really excited for this game. I borrowed my friend’s Splatoon 2 cartridge weeks ago but gave it back to him because I’m in college and wouldn’t see him for a while. I had a blast playing Splatoon 2 and loved the splatfest on Saturday. I’m very excited to get into this game as a new fan of the series
Honestly I feel like the roller has been power creaped out of viability, which sucks because I'm a roller main, and I can't use it, I had to switch weapons to my back up.
I think the problems with tri color turf war this splatfest originate from the map being unchanged to suit tricolor, as well as the amount of places the enemy teams can proceed to the middle (aka entry points). A regular 4v4 turf war in Sturgeon Shipyard has about 4-5 entry points per side, and each team has to deal with that amount. In tri color, however, scissors had to deal with 8-10 at once, while having two simultaneous objectives. Coupled with the fact that inking the enemy sides left yourself open to the team behind you as well as being nearly pointless because all the work would be undone within the next 20 seconds and you've got an unbalanced game mode made to screw over teams that played well
Thé tri color meta for the wining team, is that 2 people guard signal, and the other spawn camp the losing teams. It felt super unfair because we couldn’t turf our spawn or go grab ultra signal.
The two sides definitely have the advantage. I was on scissors and we were in first to start, but by the end we were in last because of the ultra signal that you can do nothing about.
Give the Undercover Brella a try, its very much a close range assist weapon (similar to what you were talking about with the bow, but for close quarters). Ink Mines are great with the high ground and chokes in this game and the Motorcycle Ult lets you counter-push AGGRESIVELY instead of just flanking like the old Undercover Brella. It really changes the dynamic of the weapon, I'm running mine with Thermal Ink for further team support. Very different from the two larger Brellas.
@@GUKingOfHeart I typically throw down a sprinkler to help ink base until I die. Then focus on base a tiny bit more, or just throw another sprinkler in a unpainted area as I run back to the front
Actually, Undertow Spillway is an underground flood control system. Massive structures like this exist in the real world and the one that I know is located in Tokyo
A top level comp player named arias hi was popping with splatana in splatfest, so this shows that if buffed, it could be a very good weapon for all players
As someone who was playing on the defending team I found if your team mates knew what they were doing it was easy to keep the other teams locked out of mid in try color unless a mistake was made that allowed the other teams to get off a signal early in the match as that put that little extra strain on you and opened up the possibility of things snowballing out of control quickly.
One of the things I don’t think many people noticed is tha max sensitivity in 3 is way higher than the max in 2, which made my aiming experience a lot more smooth and fluid as opposed to the choppy aiming from 2
i couldn't get used to splatana because i wanted to be my best for this splatfest but i feel like i'm going to love it since i'm a brush main but i kinda want to use a stronger splatana since this one felt...weak?
When I first started playing the Splatfest, I wasn't really excited to try Stringer. At first I didn't rly like it, but after a while I got used to the assist-anchor style of it. I love the playstyle and I am totally going to main it along with n-zap in 3. Also, I'd just like to mention that it could end up being really good in tower control since you can just lay a bunch of mini bombs on the tower
Imagine a undercover tenta brella were you can just sit with it open (it would still not fire in the open mode because that would be over powered) and not have to worry about it flying of the brella
YO! I was the hydra on Paper at 12:29 in the video. The new kit is awesome, and I adore what the weapon feels like now. Really tragic trying to play it in 1 or 2 now though...
We did not need another melee weapon when we have octo brush, ink brush, and carbon to an extent. The splatana wiper can finish with melee and paint well/pressure from slight range.
I think of the five Tricolour games I got into red won 2, blue won 2 and yellow won 1 (the only one I saw the midpoint sprinkler of doom, all the other matches we got it was 50/50 for the ultra signals or they were only achieved once), with one of the red wins it constantly felt like I was facing 3 red inklings at once, despite yellow also never getting the ultra signal so presumably they were actually balancing their resources and just always being where they needed to be. I love the fact there's a random coffee shop/arcade section in the lobby. I've seen some speculation that it might be where multiplayer tableturf is added when that gets added to the game, but... Even if it's never used I love the detailing of putting it into the game at all.
I actually forgot how much fun splatoon was and am VERY excited to be getting this game. My birthday is actually shortly after the game releases so I’ll be getting it as a birthday present while the game is still fairly new :)
1:30 in all of your footage you never used the charged slice once and just walked towards them swinging, you probably could have 1 shot most of them if you had, it might what your missing about the weapon. tbh swim speed and run speed are probably good for the weapon too
Ayo I just realised what if Octavio and the Octarions (or whoever is the ture villan of this story) made the rocket to escape back to the surface Or actually what if Squidbeak and Octavio made the rocket to escape Alterna and escape back to the Splatlands, after all you did fall down. So the game could just be you working on repairing the ship and escaping and while you do finding out the history of the professor and old humans? Think about it though, where would that rocket have come from if not the Octarians. They could give huge lore and explain whats going on with the ooze and return of Mammals going on, perhaps one of humanities late experiments maybe even used to save themselves and it just developed and slowly infected all of Alterna. That'd also explain why the border is visible in Alterna unlike splatoon 1 which was basically open world but you'd just die. The Octarians couldve created a barrier around Alterna trapping the ooze and stopping the infection. And as we see Octavio up in the Splatlands in the trailer he could've been invading sick of stealing the Zapfish and wanting to get back his Octolings, his most elite soldiers. And after defeating him his bot that he uses eventually causes the ground to collapse and they all fall to Alterna This could actually be the case tbh, tho I dbout it would be exactly correct but can't be any worse the Space Bears as this guy has actually believed before lmao
The winning team is at a major disadvantage. I was on scizzors and I only won 4 tri couloured turf wars. I play like 9 of the 12 hours the demo was available so I definitely way way more than just 4 tri coloured turf wars
As a scissors player i didnt win a single match of tri turf war, either rock or scissors literally need to stand in place for a few seconds then the towers are just too op
My only 3 issues I had were A. the servers were dying but this is a global test meaning it was a test for the servers to see if they needed anything (also it was a free demo so anyone could play = worse server connection), B. Tri Color (I was team scissors), and found myself winning only 2 matches out of the 7 I played! Tri color isn't BAD I just feel it was too unfair for people on the winning team... but that's kinda the point. and C. The character customization. I LOVE how much they added and changed but none of the hairstyles fit me that much other than the hair slicked back from splatoon 2. Anyways good game, already pre-ordered can't wait!
Other people are saying that old fans have no reason to play Splatoon 3 and it doesn't really have enough content. I've only played the first game and was sold at squid
You playing 6-7 hours Me playing the whole 12 hours That’s right, it’s the school holidays and I don’t have a life so I spent half a day playing the splatfest
I thought Scorch Gorge was fun, and balanced. That might just be me maining Hydra Splatling and easily being able to pick off the enemies on the tower and it becoming more a sort of team king of the hill than get to the tower first and win
i agree with most parts of this video, the main thing i dont agree on is the stages segment, because by god i loved almost every stage that was included ESPECIALLY undertow spillway, i had so much fun on that map probably the highlight map to me during the testfire
I bet stamper would be a lot harder to use. It is heavy, and from the footages, I think it needs to be used from up close for most of the times. wiper can still be used form a far using the slow kill projectile, but is super strong on up close The barrier is for bow users, so opponent cant reach them too easily. but I think so, the map is not very creative that the battle seems repetitive right? Mahimahi in splatoon one is much more fun
So talking about the tricolor splatfest- me and some random person online were completely smoking team scissors and rock. Somehow without voice chat, or texting, or any form of communication besides “this way” and “booyah”, both of us knew exactly what role to play. I was splat jr, support and bubble at ultra signal, and they were splatershot, getting rid of all the enemies. So I’d say scissors was indeed very behind in the second half, as it went that way for all of our matches for 4 hours. Along with my sister playing as rock on her switch and doing the same thing with her friends in pro. (I know, “no one f-ing asked for my ‘story’” but I really felt like I needed to get that off my chest.) You can keep scrolling now 👋
For me, when I played Tricolor Turf Wars, my team (Rock) won every match, so I guess the central is weaker having to coordinate a defense against two sides.
Splatoon 3 seems very very fun and i can't wait to play it Having that said, i feel like I'm taking crazy pills here cause it IS basically the same game as 2, just with 2 new weapons and stages. Squid surge and the other one are great additions but like It's common for my dad to watch me play games and he literally couldn't notice a single difference between Splatoon 2 and 3 except for the intro animations etc Anyways, I'm still really looking forward to it. Just expected a bit more from such a great franchise
I guess if you ignore the new UI, new charater/weapon models, new hairstyles, new stages, new weapons, new weapons/specials, and new movement options the games do look the same
@@SilverRyuu and of course the new single player, the new mode in table turf battle, the new salmon run, lockers, gear, graphical improvements, and new DLC that was announced, all of which we haven’t seen from the splatfest. Plus the improvements the specials make so you don’t have to tolerate ink armour and sting ray being super annoying.. looks like the final game is gonna be bad :(
We learn a lesson here: For this game, trust the community that's around it and especially and i repeat ESPECIALLY the competitive community because they knew that the gameplay was gonna be fun even by those little bits of gameplay.
Sorry but I have a question when I was playing the splatfest something strange happened after one of the matches it was a regular match and my team won but when you went back to the lobby and the game showed you your stats it gave my a shell and not one of those snail things to be clear it was a different kind of shell I think and it was added to some sort of progress bar where you needed six shells for something this all happened very fast and I didn't get a good look at anything but I was wondering does anyone know what this was and did it happen to anyone else???
All those countless tiny (and large) additions, changes, and quality of life improvements makes the game feel far better than S2. I played a S2 match right after the Splatfest ended, and I realistically see that being my final match ever in S2. Until sept 9, I’ll just be exploring the Bionis with Shulk :) Also, 4:20 Technically its a shooter, lol And about maps playing too safe, I get wanting chaotic unique stages, but the competitive scene hates maps like that (wahoo, moray, mahi mahi had some ranked modes scrapped out, etc)
Tri colour definitely feels one-sided, but I "ant say for sure because I haven't attacked, I defended, and seeing your gameplay, I'm definitely throwing just to play aggressive instead of support defense, reef is kraken 2.0

I borrowed my friend’s Splatoon 2 cartridge weeks ago but gave it back to him because I’m in college and wouldn’t see him for a while. I had a blast playing Splatoon 2 and loved the splatfest on Saturday. I’m very excited to get into this game as a new fan of the series
nice to see new people getting into the game!!! its very fun :)
I like all the small changes as well. I’m looking forward to all the future updates over the next couple of years.
Coupled with the fact that inking the enemy sides left yourself open to the team behind you as well as being nearly pointless because all the work would be undone within the next 20 seconds and you've got an unbalanced game mode made to screw over teams that played well
8:26 so sad you can’t fit your whole name in lol
Thé tri color meta for the wining team, is that 2 people guard signal, and the other spawn camp the losing teams. It felt super unfair because we couldn’t turf our spawn or go grab ultra signal.
I got tri color clowned during tri color turf war as scissors but it was a very fun mode could just use a little fixing. Loved the new square.
Very different from the two larger Brellas.
most of my turf war rewards where Home Turf Painter
how do so many people forget to paint the starting area?!
IKR.. I usually do this after my 3rd death.. as if you ink the spawn at the start, you're giving up middle ground.
Nin10do land: i actually hate the splatana
Me: fight me
One of the things I don’t think many people noticed is tha max sensitivity in 3 is way higher than the max in 2, which made my aiming experience a lot more smooth and fluid as opposed to the choppy aiming from 2
i couldn't get used to splatana because i wanted to be my best for this splatfest but i feel like i'm going to love it since i'm a brush main
but i kinda want to use a stronger splatana since this one felt...weak?
The n zap is one of my favourite blaster
Are you familiar with blasters because this is a shooter not a blaster
Love that I stared at every team scissors member thinking, “Is that me?” XD
I actually forgot how much fun splatoon was and am VERY excited to be getting this game. My birthday is actually shortly after the game releases so I’ll be getting it as a birthday present while the game is still fairly new :)
1:30 in all of your footage you never used the charged slice once and just walked towards them swinging, you probably could have 1 shot most of them if you had, it might what your missing about the weapon. tbh swim speed and run speed are probably good for the weapon too
7:51 Hey, that's me! One of the only kills I get with the Splatana. Seriously, it's so hard to use.
I'm guessing since I never played 1 or 2, 3 online multiplayer will be to hard from all the people who been riding this wave since spat 1?
14:06 “better online” crashes like every few hours
Ayo I just realised what if Octavio and the Octarions (or whoever is the ture villan of this story) made the rocket to escape back to the surface
Or actually what if Squidbeak and Octavio made the rocket to escape Alterna and escape back to the Splatlands, after all you did fall down.
And after defeating him his bot that he uses eventually causes the ground to collapse and they all fall to Alterna
This could actually be the case tbh, tho I dbout it would be exactly correct but can't be any worse the Space Bears as this guy has actually believed before lmao
The winning team is at a major disadvantage. I was on scizzors and I only won 4 tri couloured turf wars. I play like 9 of the 12 hours the demo was available so I definitely way way more than just 4 tri coloured turf wars
What Are your opinion on 2022 for Nintendo?
“N-Zap has always been one of my favorite blasters”
WAIT WHAT
splatana:*exists*
my mind:mind if i cut in? *the only thing i know for real starts playing*
I played roughly 4 hours of tri colour, and in my experience, rock or paper pretty much always won
The only way Nintendo will get me to splatana main is if they added a variant that holds the charge in squid form
BRUH Moment..
What you said about the Stringer could easily be applied to the Splatana.
In defense of Splatanas, the Japanese name for the class is “wiper” not really insinuating the sword motif as much
My biggest complaint with the Tricolor Battles is that it felt like once Team Scissors got ahead, it was impossible for Rock and Paper to catch up
Thank you for admitting it lolll! #Don'tJudgeABookByIt'sCover (Also who the heck only puts in 6 hours in the splatfest?!)
I DIDN'T like the splat charger in Splatoon 2, but now it's very good for camping
The splatana needs a buff for close combat.
It has a one hit melee which charges very fast.
Other people are saying that old fans have no reason to play Splatoon 3 and it doesn't really have enough content.
I've only played the first game and was sold at squid
Saltpray Rig needs to return in it’s full Chaotic glory. It’s the only Team Chaos way
You playing 6-7 hours
Me playing the whole 12 hours
That’s right, it’s the school holidays and I don’t have a life so I spent half a day playing the splatfest
I thought Scorch Gorge was fun, and balanced. That might just be me maining Hydra Splatling and easily being able to pick off the enemies on the tower and it becoming more a sort of team king of the hill than get to the tower first and win
The mailbox was already in splatoon 2 and isn't new
I actually noticed that people hated the spattana and people also haters the stringer until they found strategies
that's you killing my friends and I at 4:20 lmao
I thought it was gonna be about the agent 7 theory way back like 3 years ago. (Not sure why I thought that lol)
i agree with most parts of this video, the main thing i dont agree on is the stages segment, because by god i loved almost every stage that was included ESPECIALLY undertow spillway, i had so much fun on that map probably the highlight map to me during the testfire
The direct already made it obvious to me that this game would be worth it
Dude I loved moray towers. Wait a minute… Zipcaster+Moray Towers >:D
It feels good to be one of those people who defended this game from the beginning, I always knew that the wait was gonna be worth it
I bet stamper would be a lot harder to use. It is heavy, and from the footages, I think it needs to be used from up close for most of the times. wiper can still be used form a far using the slow kill projectile, but is super strong on up close
The barrier is for bow users, so opponent cant reach them too easily. but I think so, the map is not very creative that the battle seems repetitive right? Mahimahi in splatoon one is much more fun
I'm seeing so many Splatoon RUclipsrs on team rock, you, octoboy, and I think even jaymoji
You deserve so many more subscribers and I love your content
So talking about the tricolor splatfest- me and some random person online were completely smoking team scissors and rock. Somehow without voice chat, or texting, or any form of communication besides “this way” and “booyah”, both of us knew exactly what role to play. I was splat jr, support and bubble at ultra signal, and they were splatershot, getting rid of all the enemies. So I’d say scissors was indeed very behind in the second half, as it went that way for all of our matches for 4 hours. Along with my sister playing as rock on her switch and doing the same thing with her friends in pro.
(I know, “no one f-ing asked for my ‘story’” but I really felt like I needed to get that off my chest.)
You can keep scrolling now 👋
Can’t wait for splatoon 3. I wonder what’ll happen. Maybe Octavio’ll become an ally. Maybe the octostomp will make another return. Who knows?
Holy cow! your good with the splatterscope what is your sensitivity set to?
For me, when I played Tricolor Turf Wars, my team (Rock) won every match, so I guess the central is weaker having to coordinate a defense against two sides.
I played about 6/7 tricolour battles with scissors and got smoked every game…
And I don't like how when one team wins the other does too that does not make any sense
Interesting take on the stringer
I played it for 12 hours
10,5 in The EU fest as paper
And 1,5 in The JP fest as scissors to try out tricolor as defense
I really hope we get a cross bow stringer!
Im excited for this game even tho I probably wont be able to play it cause the reader on my switch is messed up
super hyped for splatoon 3, can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm new to the series but this game looks like a lot of fun!
Splatoon 2 is one of my favorite games, splatoon 3 is bigger and better, it’s gonna be a blast.
Splatoon 3 seems very very fun and i can't wait to play it
Having that said, i feel like I'm taking crazy pills here cause it IS basically the same game as 2, just with 2 new weapons and stages. Squid surge and the other one are great additions but like
It's common for my dad to watch me play games and he literally couldn't notice a single difference between Splatoon 2 and 3 except for the intro animations etc
Anyways, I'm still really looking forward to it.
Plus the improvements the specials make so you don’t have to tolerate ink armour and sting ray being super annoying.. looks like the final game is gonna be bad :(
We learn a lesson here:
For this game, trust the community that's around it and especially and i repeat ESPECIALLY the competitive community because they knew that the gameplay was gonna be fun even by those little bits of gameplay.
If you have seen the hacks you can see the new weapon versions of the bow and sword
Those were for the Splatfest! Has something to do with 333x battles iirc?
Festival Shells increase your chances of getting 100x and 333x battles
You only get those shells when winning a x10 battle btw so you probably just didn't notice that's what it was.
I really dislike sturgeon shipyards as well. It's nice to hear that I'm not the only person feeling that way
I hate sturgeon, not cause its a bad stage, but because I have ptsd from tri color battles. I was on team scissors.
The splatana is actually broken, it would be a lot weaker if it was melee only, try playing it like a long range brush
All those countless tiny (and large) additions, changes, and quality of life improvements makes the game feel far better than S2. I played a S2 match right after the Splatfest ended, and I realistically see that being my final match ever in S2. Until sept 9, I’ll just be exploring the Bionis with Shulk :)
Also, 4:20 Technically its a shooter, lol
And about maps playing too safe, I get wanting chaotic unique stages, but the competitive scene hates maps like that (wahoo, moray, mahi mahi had some ranked modes scrapped out, etc)
Random thing but macs is scam backwards
YES THANK YOU!
FINALLY PEOPLE ARE HYPED FOR THE GAME LIKE THEY SHOULD OF FROM THE BEGINNING!!
GOOD SH#£ TAKES TIME PEOPLE!
Tri colour definitely feels one-sided, but I "ant say for sure because I haven't attacked, I defended, and seeing your gameplay, I'm definitely throwing just to play aggressive instead of support defense, reef is kraken 2.0
