    Thanks for the video, I've got a set of GT40s that I'm about to rework. I bought a Trick Flow spring kit, ( p/n TFS-2500100) specifically made for the GT40 heads, from Summit, that I'm to include. I can't believe that I was lucky enough to find the kit in stock, so I snapped it up. As you mentioned, I've also noticed the pitting issue on the original stainless valves, especially bad on the exhaust valves. I'm glad that you're addressing this in the video.
    As an FYI, (for whoever might give a shit), these heads came on a Ford Racing crate engine that I bought as a 5.0 "Cobra" long block back in 1994. The heads came with OE rockers, so I ditched them for a set of Ford Racing 1.7 ratio roller rockers, the same type of pedestal mount rockers that came on the 93-94 Mustang Cobra. (Ford should have included them in my opinion since it was hawked as a "Cobra" engine in the catalog.)
    With the original B-303 camshaft, the 1.7s gave me a lift of .512 inches without any issues with coil bind on the OE springs or piston interference. I use the the FelPro, (p/n 1011-2) head gaskets, they don't cost a fortune and never had a problem with them; they're similar to the OE Ford gaskets, maybe a step ahead. The engine went into a 67 Mustang Fastback after doing some research and retrofitting. There wasn't a lot of detailed info on Ford stuff back in 1994, unless you did quite a bit of digging. You could screw up some expensive shit if you weren't careful. It was a learning experience to say the least, but it paid off; the set-up gave me a lot of trouble free miles through the years.
    Thanks again for the video, I appreciate seeing someone working on a Ford for a change. The whole damned world doesn't drive just Chevys.

    Great video lots of great info, if that’s an explorer engine and you have the throttle body you can flip the throttle linkage and use it they are 65mm

    Great video. Gonna basically do the same thing on my 1991 Ford F-150 302, probably a F cam, GT40P’s with springs, lapped in, new valve seals etc. Converting to Cobra upper and lower with headers 36lb injectors matching mass air meter with mass air comversion… wish me luck lol

    I thought about doing just a..306... With the gt40p worked head.... Believe it or not.. I've actually seen the 302 with board to a 306.... There is a really good 306 cheap budget combo that works well.... I'd like to do hey 347 stroker..., But I don't want to do it with a 90 ho block.... I'm looking for a 68 block... To do a 347 with... But at the moment... I'm just thinking about doing the 90 up lightly to a 306.... And I'm interested in the difference... In the revised. B + E + F+. Cams..., And I've always heard the b cam.... Was good in speed density... But not so good in mass air flow...cars...... But now I'm curious in all the new letter + cams..,. Have you had any experience with the new revised letter..+ cams...

      I do not have any experience with the new letter cams. I ended up putting a carb on this motor.

    I just got some gt40p heads out of the junkyard and am wondering about everything needed for me to run them on my foxbody. I would like to refresh the valvetrain but don’t know where to start, I want to be able to run a more aggressive cam at some point in time. Any suggestions for a budget build?

    Thank you for the video. Do you put assembly lube or grease on the valve stems before final assembly?

    Hay Kris did you check head gasket surface ? I am doing the same to my gt40p heads,i stright edged mine can get .004 to .005 thou on mine . Deciding weather to mill or not. Thanks Jim in Ohio

    • @fox-body
      @fox-body  2 года назад

      I did check. You should be fine without milling. The gasket is very forgiving.

    That's called lapping a valve not a valve job. Also tha straight edge is completely unacceptable. It doesn't even go across all the cylinders.
