The shorts are gonna bring a lot of people to your channel.
Almost 5k subs in a day!
I could watch this guy work all day. Good to see someone do this work that actually know his job well!!
Love your videos and I appreciate family owned business! You folks, and those like you, are the lifeblood of this country - thank you!
That should be one damn happy customer. Lovely work.
You guys are amazing artists and great humans. I love watching you and your dad work. Love from the Middle East ❤️
This never gets boring, this is Pure Quality content right here
He definitely narrates it very well.
I like that in everything you do, you consider your customers advantage
Our customers are our livelihood! If we bankrupt them with unnecessary costs, we essentially bankrupt ourselves. On the flip side, if we don’t do the job right we cost them, and in turn cost ourselves!
It’s honestly almost selfish in a way lol. But thank you, yes, we care a lot about our customers. They are why we are here!
Yes I enjoyed watching your video I like to know where you located and if I can have some heads done
ruclips.net/video/qnGmiSh8vQc/видео.html
im super impressed by your work ethic, and chilled vibe, precise skill. we do this jobs in here but its not looking as clean, thanks for the inspiration to get better and better
These are cool videos. They illustrate the amount of effort and knowledge needed to have engine work come out right.
This is very addictive,I was always searching for this kind of machining content, keep uploading
Those shorts really do work my dude. I'm a sucker for machining channels just subbed.
Machinist?
Got me here too
Also how I found the channel
Thanks for posting this! You never know what shops actually do behind closed doors and certainly most don't take pride in their work.
On Cats, guides and springs are pretty much a given every time.
I got a buddy who does this for a living with high performance motors. i can sit all day and watch what he does or anyone doing this kind of work. the kind of stuff i'm interested and never gets me bored😊
You just earned yourself a sub! Fantastic attention to detail and quality! It’s really nice to see there are still some really good machine shops out there, keep up the good work!
Here the same!😊👉👍
While I won't be able to use your services (I live in Germany), I really like this content. To be honest, I like the small channels the most, because they are often just as good as the big ones, and you feel like you are the part of a small elite crew xD
You are bringing back memories of my years as a Cat tech. Those broken studs were brutal. Especially if someone hacked them before you. As you found out the cat studs have a taper at the inside potion that will come out if a square hole is drilled. We used heli coils when possible and the bigger cat inserts if the holes were too big. All while thr head was on and sometimes coolant still in engine.
Just found your channel today. Love the craftsmanship and attention to detail. Keep the videos coming man!
I enjoy the work produced out of your shop and the time taken to film
and crank out content for us nerds.
I found a good shop in southern CO, but I’d bring my engines straight to you guys based solely on the content you put out. Referrals are one thing, looking over your shoulder is another.
Thank you Brother I learned a lot. Y'all do a whole lot of hard work and thanks for sharing. God bless you and your family and shop.
Watching this video was like watching a job in our own workshop here in the UK. It's great to know that the techniques used are the same over there as over here. I'm about to embark on filming some jobs for youtube, but mostly based on smaller engines. Apart from the one stupid comment you have on here, i like to think that automotive machinists are usually pretty good towards eachother. We share jobs with several other shops here and all learn new things from eachother 👍
Really happy to see you gaining subs so quickly, you deserve it 😎
That's awesome to hear! If you get some videos up, let me know. I'd love to see what it's like in the UK!
I think it's great when we can all learn from each other.
I don't understand where the negative comments come from lol. My momma taught me "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"....
Thanks for the support! The growth has been really exciting for me! Very fun for me to share my work with the world :)
Nice work!! Fixing that broken stud was just icing on the cake 👍🇺🇸
Kick ass repair job, And a HUGE +1 on those spade style incerts. Having had issues with a Heil-Coil repair in a head bolt that CAT never told me was bad on a C-15 we had rebuilt. And went threw 3 head gaskets in less than 10 days. You can say I'm SOLD on them. Yes there expensive and maybe not the best option on every repair. But I can tell you this, After we finally put the correct thread replacement in that engine it went another 1.3 million miles with out any trouble.
Gorgeous work, a lost art but a beautiful craft nonetheless. I’d love to see some of those engines started up after your client reinstalls them. I bet they’re 10x better after
Thank you! At the end of the video, you thanked everyone for watching and said that you appreciated it.
I want to thank YOU for your time recording, editing, and posting these interesting, high quality videos. Almost documentary quality. Maybe you do talk and move through the video a little too fast sometimes, but I'm sure your videos will only improve with time and experience.
It's also great to see a son working with his dad and appreciating his experience and humbly accepting it. Something rarely see these days.
So, for myself and I'm sure many others watching your channel, THANK YOU !!!
Regards.
I rebuilt CAT small and large bore diesel and natural gas engines, In my 25 years plus hands on experience, I have had to watched the best cutting edge updated precision engineering to machine the cylinder head ever seen. No one have that set up thru out in Pakistan at all.
Good job checking the valve protrusion/recession on a diesel head.
Some shops don't understand the importance.
I used to mix and match the valves to the chambers to try and average out the depths.
Great video!
Been there, done that! Luckily w/ brand new valves they are pretty much the same but when grinding & reusing the valves I’ve definitely had to mix and match to average them lol
The Serdi helps get them closer to the same depth as well but there’s always that one seat that is worse than the rest :p
As a car enthusiast and cnc lathe and mill operator I love the videos, best of both worlds in one 👌🤙
You guys are awesome. Thanks for the wholesome and interesting stuffs.
I love how clean your shop is kept
This relaxes me!
Awesome!!! Nice work my friend!
Very nicely done!!
Awesome video man!
I’ve always wanted to work in a machine shop so being able to have that experience through your videos is amazing. Please these videos coming! Also love the fact that your working with your father.
I like this channel
Very straight forward and calming
Brilliant work
What a monster head, very nice job.
Awesome work! And thanks for sharing!
this is incredibly satisfying to watch. the shorts brought me in here so keep that up! you earned a sub.
Love watching your stuff
Excellent work,, I still remember engineering the RHD (yes, the steering wheel in on the other side here in Australia) the CAT3406B, 3406C & 3176 engine installations on a Freightliner FLC112 way back in the late 80's / early 90's
Fun to watch, nice job👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great video mate, thanks 😊
Great job on the head and broken stud. I use carbide 4 flute end mills sometimes or left handed carbide twist drill bits. Whatever it takes. Beautiful Serdi and end product is awesome.
The beginning, when doing the guides, a machine shop here cracked my guide housing smh
Leaked oil into the chamber when motor is running. All that compression is pullin oil in between the guide and wall into the exhaust port.
You’re doing good work bud👍🏼
Nice work man.
Good work on bring us in on the details as you were doing each operation.
Not as easy as it looks to make RUclips videos.
Keep up the good work both in the shop and with making your videos.
All the best.
Peter.
Is it wrong that i love both red, and yellow engines. 6NZ, and N14 and the early ISX are my favorite. Keep up the great work..
Excellent work
I used to run a big vertical mill in a pneumatic/hydraulic cylinder factory. I used to run that machine all day and dream about running it half the night. LoL
Nice clean surfaces you machine. Top notch.
Good catch!!
When I worked in a diesel engine shop we did complete engine rebuilds, in frames and had a cylinder head shop not only for our rebuilds and in frames but as stocked product. We specialized in Mack and Cummins but did plenty of Caterpillar, Detroit, and International builds. We also did transmission and differential rebuilding, had an injection shop, a parts counter, and we're a full repair shop.
All that being said, every head got new guides, new seats, new valves. Every head was surfaced. Certain models received new springs or retainers etc. But I can assure you we never measured original valve guide clearance. Our heads were reconditioned to an as new condition with a warranty.
Unless it's a low mileage engine or the head was recently rebuilt then the guides will be worn, guides cost a fraction of the labor to pull the head, it just isn't worth the savings to not replace them.
That air hammer frickin yeeted that valve guide at 1:32
Such professional work.will follow. Takes me back.
My first wife was a good at head work
Always a finely polished product at the end
These videos are so theraputic and relaxing
This stuff is awesome
Brilliant Video..Very informative..well explained..customers can see what care a attention you both take! quality
That was awesome. Also that's a huge head
Thanks for the video!
Awesome video i like the complete explanation of the steps your doing im a gear head myself and have an appreciate the work you guys do
My god that was satisfying, amazing work
Piece of art...
Really enjoyed watching .. You guys have a lot in of experience bigg respect.
Pure craftsmen!
Nice Work!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!!
Very informative
You are working on my favorite engine
You think of everything! I will your vids always now.
Glad to support a local family business!
Love the way u guys work ❤️🤍💚
Man I wished you all were located in Colorado!!! Awesome work you and your family do thanks for sharing 👌
I just looked them up, Gill Colorado. East of Boulder, Ft Collins. Out on the prairies.
@@rossilake218 the home of Walker mower company .,the BEST mower available !
Hi guys, your videos,no matter how boring they seem, are very interesting to me. I'm a retired auto mechanic and I spent some time in the automotive machine shop in the military, but never had a chance carry on the machinist trade.
Keep it up!!! Always love to see machine work. I work with my dad in a small shop as well.
My head is in the shop here as I type. I hope he is as thorough and great as you guys!
Love you channel love your work
You should look into e-z lok. Their thread inserts are perfect for CAT exhaust stud holes. They have different OD thread sizes if you have a need for a thicker insert wall. Great video man. Keep it up.
Love the content brother! Stop screwing up n stressin ur dad out lol jk it’s nice to c a family working together like this.
Well done😄
That thing is massive
That head is huge! The surfacing is very satisfying on that initial pass, almost like power washing!
It really is!
New to your channel. Been watching some of your other videos and i definitely like the longer videos. My "Dad" was a machinist for 35 years he died at age 55 i only met him twice so it's cool to see some of the stuff he did. I turned out more like my uncle and am on the rebuilding side of engines. Definitely looking forward to watching your videos.
Welcome! As long as people will watch, I will make videos! :) Sorry to hear that you did not get to know your father well. Dad and I are very lucky to not only work together, but to ENJOY working together (most days lol).
U've asked what we would like to see most & the five selections actually what we really want to see is a PROFESSIONAL balanced & blue printing along with align boring not on the crack but crank&cam - decking head to block without loosing compression ratio + the plus & minus of polishing head chamber oil galleries, matching in tack ports to head ports etc etc this all done to 50's - 60's - 70's famous engines of these eras the purpose to increase efficiency & performance - think U get the idea
Quality content
Whenever I order those guides with the seal barb i always order a few extra. Messing some up is inevitable, and I even have the cat tool for installing them.
Keep doing the shorts bro. That how I found you. I just subscribed excited to see what else you guys do
Thanks man! Yeah I'm going to try and balance them :)
Very smart to allow tap to slip instead of snap in the head and to finish by hand.
Valve seating process has certainly changed since I did it at college doing mechanics
Nice
If I lived near you I would volunteer to help. Its nice to see quality workmanship.
Excelente
Nice job 😊👍👍🌎🌞
I want to add to my yesterday comment - how about all these Legendary Engines from every manufacturer AND expose the manufacturing weakness & how to Correct it thru machining
I would love to hear/see that!
You guys do excellent work which is extremely hard to find anywhere anymore. There is one good shop in my area and 10 other shops that need to be run out of town. I spent the biggest part of my earlier life doing machine work and moved on to other things. As I approach retirement age if it wasn't so expensive to outfit a shop I would do exactly that as I know I could stay covered up with work. The only good shop in town is always 3plus months behind. Should have thought it over a few years ago and started stocking up with equipment before now.
Y’all have the advantage of machine tools to help remove broke bolts. Caterpillar makes a tool to help drill out broken bolts and stud on the exhaust ports. They actually make couple different ones, and they are designed to fit multiple different Caterpillar engines. It’s a machined plate that stamped what engine model with bolt holes, harden bushing, in a few different sizes so can be step drill.
Nice work!! And The eye fir details and explaining!
Good to see always wearing safety glasses....I live also with those!!
Seen couple of men with one eye left just because not wearing safety glasses and loosing an eye because of shattering piece of metal of a part , In 2 cases without hammering or pressing hard to get part in. Hard parts sometimes launch pieces of them with bullet speed because of internal tension and only very minor blow is needed!!!
I’m legally blind in my left eye, so I’ve already only got one good eye.
So yeah, I take my eye protection very seriously. To the point where in the evenings when I’m grocery shopping I sometimes find people staring at me funny and realize I’m still wearing my safety glasses 😂
I’ve done a few of these back in the day at the Cat dealer.
I find with the serdi that sometimes really slow will cut through super hard seats better. But sometimes you just have to play with speeds to get that perfect finish.
👍💯Great Job! You should be very proud of yourself also be very grateful and thankful for what your father has passed on to you. Things fathers teach their sons are Priceless in this case he taught you Priceless things also away to provide for yourself and your family forever.
I just wish your shop was in my town I would let you make my Machine work famous ha ha great job as always
Provided your in side say (guestimated) 0.005" on the skim I think this is acceptable. And a head gasket should squish a fair amount. Nice finish too.
I have to do stuff manually. Look at that fancy machine shop. Props too you guys
