Hahaha here in Brazil we call boardslide "rockslide" and lipslide is boardslide...we also call kickflip "flip" and 360 flip is "kickflip" ..and pop shovit is "varial"
I heard adelmo talk about that on the nine club and I think thats so interesting. I want to learn what other languages call tricks or do they just call them the english names? Like trick names are all made up bullshit anyway you can call them whatever you want.
Controle boards are really tuff. Better than a lot of foreign shop. Never really be a Markovich fans and the last month definitely proof it. Kalis and William were my favorit 360 flip guys. Anyone, always clean
Welp time to go wax that curb i painted in my neighbourhood and keep trying to make it grind. Thanks for keeping me inspired dude, very much appreciate it.
Man... Your curb session around 7:40 really makes me miss the old days of skateboarding. I don't hardly ever step on a skateboard anymore, but I plan to once the weather picks up here this year. A lot of your random curb sessions really bring back good memories. Thanks!
So amazing to see that ledge! That was my go to ledge spot in the late 90’s, was pretty smooth back then though. The sw crook was pretty impressive btw considering the chunk.
Nestor Judkins has a mean nollie halfcab flip as well. That one from his santa cruz part has always stood out to me. Digging the old school skate talks Ben
Isn’t it funny how some of the best skateboard sessions are just finding a lowkey street spot where someone isn’t gonna get mad at you, and just grinding the fuck out of random curbs and low ledges? It’s just relaxing and fun
I love looking at the worn in trucks. I have a set of Stage VII 169s set up on a Girl couch that I'll be using as a cruiser set up. Haven't skated it yet but I can't wait to compare the grind to the 144 Titaniums I skate on my normal set up.
I remember a lot of the Mystery boards were completely painted. Most of them were white but some were black. I didn’t think they made Mystery anymore but I looked them up a few days ago and they are still pressing decks.
Answer: Antwuan Dixons 360 flip is after the Switch Frontside 180 over the gap than a tail slide then the 360 flip then the heel flip over the stair set.
Ben im back on the board after 10 years and watching your content helped me build my board. I always skated whatever i had but now that i set one up to my preference its great. Thanks a bunch man. Keep shredding ✌🤙
We were all kids and now we are men with money to play around with skateboarding goodies ;) but gotta admit I miss having all the time in the world to skate whatever set up I have till it's worn out just cuz no responsibilities :)
@@ab-ue9yx yeah i back that up. I mean im far from rich but now that im able to buy what i want skatings a whole new thing. I appreciate this channel though cause man does Ben really break it down and touch on things that most people wouldn't consider. My board feels great now and though im coming off a broken leg just pushing around on it feels great.
I want your decks to be art of days in the life of a craftsman. An image of you hanging some crown, patching some drywall, or mittering some base board
360 varial kick flip...and ya man i love my indy over my ventures .. grind for days on them indys and ventures u must travel at mock 10 and super light footed to grind the same distance ..
I think it’s Mike Santarossa’s 360 flip (on16:50) after a switch bs 180 up a ledge/block thing and then he did a nollie heel off of it. From fight fire with fire
I don’t think I will ever make it in time for the contests but I must say I really enjoy the trips down memory lane. Would love to see more of these types of reviews of your favourite stuff and stuff that inspired you. Shout out Ted. Love his north part. Crazy out of left field idea just hit me where we send our favourite pets to you and you review them. Haha. Anyway I really enjoyed this one keep em coming. Oh that nollie bigflip was different surprised me haha
Control decks are available over here in germany as blank decks as well. but MAN would be so rad to get one of those with your artwork printed on. but unfortunately the shipping would made it soooo darn expensive.
amazing video ben, i live in buenos aires ARGENTINA and we call the nollie alf cab flips, LA MIKE, and the nollie back hell, LA CHICO, the other two are LA BEN AND LA STEVIE. i will sen you some art for the boards. saludos
I love control boards. I stayed away in the mid 2000s as I would break them easily, but the last 5 years that's all i've skated and they last a good time and I am friends with them
Man, i like how you are getting better at this age. It really is an inspiration for me, coz i am gonna turn 38 this year, but the skate virus hit me hard again and i started learning new tricks :) Anyways, i vote for Josh Kalis' tre flip over the bin at the end of his photosynthesis part.
I love the old indys, it might be in my head, but i think they grind better. Bad kingpin clearance necessitates usage of Grind King king pins though. Be cool if you did test of the old Thunders too maybe? They're pretty hard to get though tbh...
I don’t know if it’s the one your looking for but BA in yeah right after he does a nollie cab fakie manual 180 out, he does one of the such a nice ass tre flip. Power fínese, it’s hard to not re watch it more than 5 times
Totally agree, Venture just feel too hard when grinding compared to Indy or Thunder (let alone Tensor Mags); no reason to make extra work for yourself.
Hey ben. I've started watching your videos and buying some deck. I thought I'd ask why are some seven ply harder to brake. I'm 250 pounds and can skate a seven ply and brake it in a day. sometimes i get lucky and miss and don't brake my board when i land on the tail or boardslide a rail. I have my own theory of why this happens but want to see what you think. I sometimes think that the viners are larger. but I also think that sometimes the board is made with some secret supportive ply. and im not aware. thanks ben please let me know what your think.
Hey Ben! What do you think about 14.375 wheel base? I bought a polar hjalte surf shape (8.75, length 31.5 nose 6.25 tail 6.5) and I bought some Indy hollows 149 for them. Is it a good combo? My actual deck is a old Alien 7.75 so that's a big jump haha
Yo Ben; have you ever had a zero deck? I’m about to buy a new setup for spring and I’m considering Zero. If you could potentially do a April deck (Shane O’Neil’s brand) in the future would be sick 👍🛹
Zero is just a standard generator deck. If you've ever skated a BBS/generator board it's going to be pretty much the same thing - mid concave, mid-steep kicks with a pronounced spoon shape to them, not a lot of flat between the truck holes and kicks, and probably around 31.8" with a 14.25" wb for most widths. April is also BBS, I haven't skated one but I'd assume its probably in the same vein. There's not a lot of variation mold-wise in BBS decks... I've never seen one that was really mellow like some PS decks or one that was mega steep like south central or pennswood deep dish.
@@loveandnapalm thanks for the reply 👍, I’m not educated on the board manufacturers but i’ve had Baker in the past and i have a Primitive deck right now. I was only curious about Zero because it’s one of the brands I recognized from back in the day. Shane O’neil rips and i was just curious about his company 🛹
I have a question, what trucks would you recommend for a deck with a very wide wheelbase but a mellow kick for flip tricks? Anyways sick video as always!👍
Ben tried to ditch the truck madness life but those old indys came calling...
This is the same guy that I've been watching do drywall repairs? Crazy

That nollie big flip was good. Keep shredding Ben. Jason Lee's tre flip in the bLind video got me stoked. But can't forget about Chico Brenes catch.
