In standard, regular units fighting a mostly guerilla style, with few support from airforce, artillery, and tanks? Most definitely.
@@Briselance The French Union had the upperhand nonetheless. And Dien Bien Phu wasn’t a guerilla style battle.
And the idea that Vietnam fought a simple guerilla is a false idea, they had multiple ways of fighting and they actually downed more than 10 000 American aircrafts.

If not for the USAF threw everything they got to bombed the surrounding mountains and resupplying the base.
The defender wouldn't be able to stand out..
Khe sanh is just a distraction to spread out the US defence from the main city for the NLF to prepare for the Tet offensive

And you know they won because US used same tactics in AFG 40 years later ! ( concept of FOB's)
