  • A live performance, all on hardware, and inspired by the magic of making music with other people. Sam, astounding drummer and human, has been kind enough to waste his drumming talent on the likes of me, and I couldn't be happier.
Before we even started jamming, I knew I'd need 1) a compact setup 2) with lots of voices 3) that sounded good 4) and included a sequencer 5) and possibly some effects 6) as well as lots of performance control. And after about one second of considering those requirements, I knew the Analog Four MkII would have to be the basis of the setup. The A4MkII is an elegant solution.
I also wanted some sort of lead instrument to "play", as in on the black & white keys. I tried the Matriarch at first, but found it wasn't quite cutting enough for the arrangement. I needed something buzzier, raspier, with an attention-demanding filter and drive... and then it was obvious I needed the Subsequent 37. The SS37 doesn't exactly sound like a classic Moog, and that's why it's such a good fit for this sort of music.

Written by Jay Hosking and Sam Sherwood. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jay Hosking. Additional drum engineering and setup by Taylor Friginette of Pandora's Box rehearsal studio. A huge thank-you to Pandora's box for having mixer/audio-interfaces in their jam spaces, as well as a mic already wired into the kick and other mics for easy setup.
