This song always brings me to tears. I know it's supposed to be a love song for couples, but it reminds me of my son who passed away Feb 2016. He struggled with so many physical and mental ailments the last few years of his life. I wanted so badly to take him away from all that kept him captive and give him the life of freedom he ached for so desperately. I just wanted to ride off together and spend time wandering back roads and seeing all there was to see. I know for certain now he's free, but God I miss him so much.

I lost my beautiful sister at the young age of 49 to addiction. She had bigger wings than most and just couldn't be contained in this small world. I'm so heartbroken!!! She loved her van. THIS. THIS IS MY ZACH BROWN SONG. I saw ZBB at Country 2 Country at the O2 London in March 23 and when they played this song I was like WOW. I lost myself and was blown away. They had a video going on in the background which was a phoenix rising from the flames. THIS IS SO ME and why this song is ME 🙏
We went on a boat ride in Destin Florida. And the sun was setting and the captain started playing this song. He said "this is what it's all about." I will never forget that moment looking at the sun setting on the boat and listening to this song.

3/4/16 Been looking at & listening to so many Zac Brown songs tonight w/excitement for his upcoming concert May 20th; I'm lucky to be going with my two beautiful daughters. I got to "Free" and notice Joey & Rory as backup singers; I was moved to tears seeing Joey. I just learned of her passing and watched many of her youtube clips tonight. She was a beautiful woman, inside & out, and I wish to extend condolences to her loved ones and friends. God Bless Rory & Indy and may they find comfort in their cherished time together and the memories she left to have a piece of her always. Heaven has a lovely new angel!

In 2014 I had an exchange student come to my high school for a one year abroad program, me and my friend took him under our wings for his year in America and he grew to become our best friend in the world, he fell in love with zac brown band and especially this song. The day before he went back home to Germany we surprised him and took him to a ZBB concert in our city. it was getting very late, and we had to catch our train home, as were walking our of the stadium "Free" just begins playing. We run back into the venue and go catch our favorite song with our boy. One of the best moments of my life. Fuck that train, we figured it out and got a ride back home with some random couple we met at the concert.
