- This video will show you the most simple way to bypass your windows XP password. This will come in handy if you have forgotten your XP Password. We are using XP Professional edition with Service Pack 2, but this method should work on the Home edition as well.

Do the cmd prompt option instead and type into prompt “explorer” because it logs u in automatically I think as that is what happened with my windows 10 pc without my pin.

@@kelvinolmosierra1883 what you can do is turn off the computer 2-3 times by using the button on the computer, after that the menu for choosing recovery mode will show up by itself

Thank you so much for this. I transferred photos from a memory card to my old laptop (circa 2010) . In a break in, my camera and cards were stolen and I only had photos on this now old unused laptop. I have been able to retrieve precious memories. Thank you so much!

I’ve seen so many BS ways on the internet of how to do exactly what you just did but by downloading these files on to a usb then using BIOS to boot up with the new program which never worked till I came along and WATCHED THIS! Thanks dude this laptop I saved now will be passed down to my daughter.

Type in "administrator" as the Username. Leave the password blank. Ok. Worked for me.

There isn’t an administrator option. It just says the name of the account I can’t log onto and it says safe mode in all the corners

Hey prodigy, when that screen pops up in safemode try typing in " administrator" and enter. Got in that way..

Was watching a RUclips video and had a blue screen. Rebooted and was asked for a password. I never had one, therefore I think something/someone got in my machine and added one. Your video was fantastic! No password and boots up - no problem. Thanks!!!
When I click restart and hold f8 it doesnt take me to same screen as yours. It goes to a black screen then starts beeping then it just restarts back to the original log in screen.

Turn your computer off completely and when you turn it back on again, hold f8
You could also just CTRL+ALT+DELETE on the welcome screen, then type Administrator for the username.
But if it is restricted, it dosen't work.

it's because whoever setup your computer didn't set a password for your administrator account. That's a mistake.
Found an old Acer note book and as I had forgotten the password I can now access it.

James Lee where do you type in net user? Mine gives me a login space and a password space. It’s an old Sony and all my kids baby pics are on there.

This didn't work in "Home Edition" until after I tweaked it a little. After opening in Safe Mode, in the Windows sign in screen, only the user account came up. After several trial and errors, I removed the name, and replaced it with - Administrator - and hit enter with no password added. After that I was able to follow your other instructions until I hit another snag.
Even though I'd removed the password, the sign in screen appeared again on my next boot and wouldn't let me in. So I followed the same process again, except this time I added a new password. After that everything has worked. Thank you so much for getting me there!
One thing I wish I'd remembered before I started this whole process is the "password hint". I'm sure I put one in originally, and it might have been enough. I'll never know, but that's okay. I've got the old computer open again so I can retrieve what I need. Again, thank you!

This worked flawlessly. One caveat - make sure your keyboard's F key function is working. In my case, I have a keyboard that has F keys linked to other operations (here, F8 is also Save). I had to activate the F-Lock to make F8 function. After I had that straightened out, everything was gold.
When I click safe mode on My XP, it doesn't take me there, it goes back to log in screen, why?

I did the start with safe mode and it brings again a window saying : press the Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. And then it takes me back to asking administration’s password

What he fails to tell you is that this does not work on computers where someone has changed the administrator password.

It worked for me! After many years, I forgot my password and did not understand my hint either. I have XP service pack 3.
Not sure why it would not work for other people. Once you click on the user account, select remove password, and ensure you click on the other dialog box to remove password. It should then show you the password was removed.
