looks really nice
Thank you very much!
Great vid can this be laid over existing concrete drive in thanks
I'm going to sound like a massive dork but I love SUDS. We have so many issues with water runoff due to hard surfaces which then overwhelms our drainage. To have water soak through these surfaces rapidly and straight back into the ground is a huge advantage, especially on porous ashphalt where the water can't linger in cracks to then do the old freeze-thaw trick and create pot holes.
There's many great benefits you get from SureSets Resin surfaces, one being the water rapidly draining though the surface into the ground.
What about if it’s a lot of water?
We have 4 cars on our driveway which are washed every week, sometimes I do the neighbours cars too so that’s way more water than your average house would use, plus all the chemicals I’m using!
If the chems don’t attack the resin over time then surely all that water I’ll be using will have an effect on the ground underneath?
Mate if the process for the SUDS is done correctly, I.e 150-200mm of clean stone, then a layer of type one then open textured tarmac, not just type 1 as shown in this video the surface will take large volumes of water.
This is what I was looking for. My driveway. It will look very nice. How does it handle very cold winters (in the minus 20s to minus 30s). I don't understand how can it be permeable.
Hi mate, yes sureset do driveways but not sure about if they do them in overseas in Canada! For extreme temperatures such as that you may have to speak with a member of the team for advice for what to do, as you can have it in any temperature, but for laying it, it can't be below a certain temperature as it wouldn't be able to fully bond and cure together, particularly to the sub base.
here is their website for more advice www.sureset.co.uk/resin-bound-driveways/
Cheers mate!
Thanks for sharing! I have a paved driveway in two stepped areas. If I remove all paving and level the ground, add mot type 1(compacted), can I have resin bound layed directly over the surface? Just to confirm in case I missed something. Thanks.
Thanks for your question, normally a driveway would require more than just hardcore MOT below the resin to assure its strength, for driveways the resin is often laid onto old Tarmac or concrete which adds to the strength, if the block paving is very firm and the MOT below is a goos depth then you maybe able to lay direct;y over the blocks with reinforced mesh beneath it.
I'd certainly recommend contacting Suresets Tech team who would be able to advise the best way forward, visit there website www.Sureset.co.uk
or call them on 01985841180
@@MrandMrsDIY thank you for your time, effort and advice. Il contact sureset for further advice thank you.
Hello sir I'm in America on the East Coast. I'm curious about the usage of this product if you have to cut joints into it while doing it over a concrete driveway? What do you use to clean the tools and equipment with?
Yes you can use it on a concrete sub base. And you can clean the tools with Sureset's tool cleaner, or use white spirit. Cheers mate
Hi m8 great video but can the resin be put on type 1
Thanks mate, just double check with the manufacturer first about bases and prep, cheers
Hi, great videos, I have subscribed. Everywhere I look it says not to lay this on to MOT type 1 but it appears you have. I'm looking to do my own drive so can I pour this on to MOT? Also are you saying 13mm depth or 30? Thanks in advance.
It can go onto MOT when its pathway thats walked on, but if its driven on then a firmer base is required, please check with Sureset about the full spec for each application
Don't bother putting it straight onto mot stone won't last Craig's just done a cowboy job
@@MrandMrsDIY you got stitched right up doing a promotion for this lot. Shame on sureset.
Amazing finish. What a difference. I live in Perth W. Australia and would love a business like the one you have. Can you help me with suppliers of stone and the name of the type of mixer you're using. View did you clean the mixer? Thanks m8t, will appreciate any advise
Hi mate, glad to hear! Yes so we used a company called Sureset to lay this pathway. The big mixer is called a Forced Action Mixer, simple to clean although it is an old machine, just scrape away any leftover resin residue before it dries, because once it dries you won't get it off!
Check their website out at www.sureset.co.uk Thanks!
@@MrandMrsDIY thank you so much for a quick reply. The little stones are something I would need to source. Where can I get them?
@@user-kc4vb9me7l Hi mate, no problem. Depending on where you are, you can use sureset's website, or you could source it from another location, such as a builders merchant etc
hello... I'm in kenya...can we work together?
Neat job that. I wonder how theyd deal with broken tarmac, Im guessing that would have to come up to the level of the sub-base, then tamped down well (and any broadband fibre laid in 🤔😉 etc) before adding the resin and aggregate 🤔🤔
Also am I right in thinking that it becomes its own soakaway🤔 If its that efficient that would be a real boon where I live, even though the driveway has a gentle slope😊
Thanks mate! Yes the full level would have to have been prepared well beforehand, any cracking on the base would either have to be scratched out and lifted off, or repaired and left to fully cure!
Yes, as you can see from the water test video we did, an entire bucket that pretty much went straight through to the earth in literally 6 seconds!
Hi there! I work with cement fulget here in brazil and we don't have much of information about this resin bound paving. Can you please tell me the proportion of resin/stones and can we do it on stairs and ramp? Thanks :)
Yes we will do it on a video soon! Usually it comes in predetermined kits, you would have to consult the shop/manufacturer where you buy it from for more information. Cheers
What is the minus and maximus tempetures in Celsius to stay in good condition? What about driveways and frozen tempeturrs?

How long does it last. Wondering if it would start breaking apart in the case of rain
When it is installed by a Sureset approved installer it comes with a 21 year guarantee! We actually tried to break some off so we can do a repair video, even a pneumatic drill wouldn't get through! It's insanely strong stuff!
That won't last more than 2 years laid on stone
Hello, I’m planning to use bound resin for a patio. I’ve seen conflicting advice about the sub base and wondered if a base comprising 100mm MOT type 1 topped with a well compacted ballast would be okay in this application? There won’t be any vehicle loading. Will I need to prime it?
Yes, so mot type 1 compacted, concrete and tarmac are suitable bases for this resin. Cheers
Beautiful job! What is the price per Sgm?
Depends on colour and depth! You'd have to check the Sureset website for more info!
Hi i have 2 questions
1) Do i need asphalt underneath the reaon bound shingles
2) Do you have a link to approved contractors
Sureset have plenty of approved contractors on their website, as for the sub base under the resin, you can use compacted loadstone like me, or even tarmac and concrete. Cheers
Mate look up Vuba resin. Or Vuba Mac on here. Do your research Vuba will probably direct you to a contractor they supply too.
@Dontbesilly83 God bless you and Happy Easter mate
You really saved me here ❤️
Is there a way for large areas like public parks or it has to be done manually as well?
Yes, if you check out Sureset's RUclips channel (resin manufacturer) they've actually done a lot of pathways, parks, driveways and much more! www.youtube.com/@SureSetResin/videos Cheers
How do the residence stand up to winner conditions
It's amazing!
What happens to the 21yr warranty if the company goes bust or stops trading???
The company has been going strong for over 29 years, check out there website as there maybe an Insuance backed guarantee
People say the resin should go on concrete base to do the job right what do you think of that?
That's correct if your doing a driveway that will have cars driving over, its not so important if its just walking traffic for a pathway
@@MrandMrsDIY
Where does all the water go if the resin has to be laid on a concrete base?
The water penatrate though the resin and spread evenly across the concrete running downhill into the same drains that it originally ran into before the resin was laid over the top @@Cameron-jr5pg
How much did it cost to get a rough idea as I am thinking of getting my drive done pls .
It can very, its best contact Sureset for guild prices
I had a company lay my 120 square meter drive which looked great at first, but after a fews months is deteriorated badly. The company director was taken to court by trading standards where he was given a 3 year custodial sentence and forbidden to be a director of any company for 6 years. 60+ customers testified against him. The drive is now covered in moss, weeds etc and cracked in places. Weed killer only works temporarily. £10,000 wasted.
That's absolutely shameful!
I'm so sorry to hear this, what was the company name ? it certainly wasn't Sureset, or any of there accredited installers they all come with a 21 year warranty.
Angel Coatings, Angel Coatings Resin Drives, and National Resin Drives. 10 year warranty that was actually worthless.
Its shocking that companies are allowed to get away with this kind of poor work @@stuartalexander3
I've seen many a resin job done. I wouldn't waste money on it looks good but not very durable. In my opinion, you can't power wash it really and goes green very quick and I don't know the brand name of the resin
Does this driveway still looks as it does on the video?
Hi, yes this is a pathway that still looks the same as when we laid it several months later! Cheers
This was used many years ago in the states. It had a short life cycle because of several reasons. Anywhere it was used which had freeze cycles the lifespan of the product was very short. In the deep south, weed and mold brother was it's demise. I would not recommend this type of project to anyone and would try to talk them out of it.
USA does get more extreme weather than here in the UK, I'm not aware of many major problems with resin when its installed by a certified fitter
@@MrandMrsDIY this was notoriously applied around pools for a deck. You will not find a single person to apply this to a deck anymore. I hope you have continued good results.
A neighbour had a Resin bonded driveway installed. After a few years the driveway needed a clean because of moss & dirt collecting between the grit particles. The following year the dirt & moss returned with the addition of small weeds growing, maybe in fissures or cracks created during the jet wash.
What do you think went wrong?
You still do need to maintain it, especially it its by any brush or underneath any trees by brushing it off or getting the old leaf blower on it to get rid of any sitting foliage, and as for the weeds growing through, it definately seems like the sub base wasn't prepared correctly, as if you've got weeds going through then the sub base should be compact and absolutely rock solid!
Aw well
Thanks
Where will the bucket of water go if the bottom layer is concrete can't this be sealed
It will just spread around the whole flat area like it did before the resin was installed, if there concrete base down it should have fall allowing the water to run one way, hopefully towards drains or soft earth
Que tipo de resina e essa?

Hi, not too sure, there may be a local merchant selling them, or you could contact Sureset directly for a quote/information. Thanks www.sureset.co.uk
Has anyone here attempted this in their own home ? Who isn't a professional
They sell a DIY kit which I have done videos on patio areas before now! Cheers
Not being funny we’re the tarmac
Its not required on a pathway thats being walked on, if you was driving over it, them you would require a stronger base
English not be was my strong point was is.
The company that did my drive didn’t do half of what you showed on here ,hence big big problems. The company went bust soon after my drive was done ,good riddance to them .
That's awful! How is your driveway now?
That resin won't last more than 2 years absolute cowboy job
Need tarmac or concrete underneath to make it any good
The manufacturers state you can lay it over MOT type 2, it also comes with a 21 year guarantee. thanks pal
@@MrandMrsDIY I know what the manufacturer says but if you've done it long enough you would know that is dog 💩
@@MrandMrsDIY also it's alright the manufacturers giving a 21 year guarantee but you and I know that is a load of crap
Thanks pal 👍
An 'A-Z guide' which doesn't answer any questions about the resin bound system? Surelt this is a 'part of a guide' not a whole guide. An A-Z guide wouldnt have 'ask the suppliers' as an answer 😮
Sorry you think this, do you have a question that we haven't covered
@@MrandMrsDIY no specifically but there's lots of questions in these comments eg can it be out onto type 1? And your answer is 'check with the manufacturer'.......how can this be a full guide if basic questions and answers aren't covered? What about the cost? What about the max and mine depth range? Like I wrote above, this isn't a full guide. More like an advert
My size is 12foot X 7foot. I need green colour aggregates. How many Resin tubs I need? What the cost will be? Thanks
