HELLO GUUYS! Here are some more things to add to your Amazon wish list!
Uuuuh a Mrs NJM video about photographt would be lovely!
Photography is more a product of your work than miniatures themselves, and is super hard to do right!
Welp. I wish I found this earlier! Lol, I've been doing a custom setup from scratch and this would have saved a good amount of time.
This is like an Inception-like, layers-deep bit of inspiration. Even before this video, this channel and Tested were in stiff competition for most inspiration for developing my hobby skills.
DIY Perks and Cut Transform Glue should be on your list as well.
Marco, your Irish accent is coming along nicely 😛
Thanks for the info.
😂😂😂
Lmao, Adam gave me ideas about so many new tools to use with minis, and here are his lamps :D
I'm setting up my first workspace in over 25 years, so went with a pair of Tertials.
I also managed to pre-order a set of Kimera Kolors, so I'm super happy. Now I just need brushes, tools, and some miniatures.
There is only one thing to say Marco: Graaaande veccio, le tue idee sono oro colato
In less than a year someone will be selling this as the “ulitimate hobby lamp” for £100 each!! Great vid Marco. thank you.
I follwed your first lamp guide 1:1, but I think this might be over my technical head ^^
Tip- to avoid drill bit slide apply strip of masking tape to the piece being drilled, Mark< and drill..then peel off taoe
Absolutely golden. Thanks!
Also on some softer materials you can reverse the bit to start and it will give cleaner edges.
Great idea and video. I was looking for exactly this solution. Thanks for sharing Marco!
I love your videos Marco! I just became a patreon and tried my first oil wash on some terrain I'm painting. Keep up the great work and making amazing content!
Nice marco! Tested is an amazing channel
That’s really cool! Thanks for sharing : )
I have been using viltrox panels mounted on articulated arms like those ikea lamps for years, since I've seen Adam's video. I use it both for painting and for streaming my online drawing classes, I love them. Since they are panels, they provide a really difuse light.
Awesome, will have to seriously consider building a couple of these.
Great tutorial ! It was truly enlightening.... ;)
Finally finished watching all your videos. Thank you so much for your work. I just bought my first set and your videos gave me a whole new perspective about how painting minis is also about art in general.
One idea that I really wish you to try is to do Sisters in all the 6 major colors. Because right now I'm really struggling thinking about which order I should use. And would be really nice if you could get some sisters and shows us how you would do it.
Excellent stuff
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
So cool ! I already have the ikea's lights, and this upgrade is just what I need :D
(It's look like I'm not the only one : the loc-line are no longer available on amazon link, oO )
Can't unsee the xenomorphs
Nice. Thanks
I really like the "on hold" music you get while waiting for a premier to start.
One question: What bulbs do you use with the lambs?
Everyone needs the best lighting they can get for this hobby, but now I know these are basically a totally adaptable bending hose, now if i run one from the kitchen my wife can run tea straight out to my waiting cup!!!!
The lamps too of course but the painting priority for long sessions is tea... ;0)
Hahahahahah awesome! And you can connect in the same way painting table and bathroom for long painting sessions 😂. Ps: btw you just gave me the idea of a funnel-loc line system to create a mini sink for liquid wastes on the table...
Oh and more oils please, definitely!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Wow you're right, side mount my airbrush cleaning pot directly onto an offcut running down through the table to my waste bucket! Mind I'd have to set up a time to empty it alarm if I'm not opening it up every day. A weight based trigger or maybe a float and one of the arduinos I got cheap off ebay - Ideas!
Wooooo we are developing a proper product here!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM I was under my table looking a few minutes ago, I've got a resealable plastic emulsion paint can that's full of grey plastic shame that would be so easy to run the pipe into. Then no need for a complex alarm, an old doorwedge alarm from when I was living and working out of dodgy french hotels. Made to go off if someone unlocks and pushes the door open whilst you're asleep. Pushed half under the paint can it goes off when it's half full of water which is ideal. Now I just blast my paint into my homemade airbrush cleaning pot, tip my dicards in there too and when the alarm goes off I empty the paint can - simples!
Just need the pipe and some cableties to secure it to the back table leg.
It really is a damn savage lamp, that's right
these look really handy. I dont tend to move mine much though so i'll stick with my 2 Tertials. They are quite strong directional light though, I would prefer something a bit more diffused for less pronounced shadows (like a flat panel) so I also have a LED strip above and in the middle. Thinking about photography flash tricks I might try and hack the Tertial to convert it to a panel somehow (Milk jugs are commonly used as cheap diffusers). great video!
For the locline you attached to a light clamp, did you use one of the connection pieces that is flat and has a hole for a bolt on the bottom?
And now you are known as The Dr. Marcoctopus. Be careful of spiderman hahaha
genious !
Darn- am in trouble now Marco- going to be building some for Cathys fabric painting station...
7:28 I see a Proxxon Micromot 50 there that was also recommended by Adam before, is it useful for minis?
Excellent video, but I can’t bring myself to drill holes through my lovely Eiermann table! 😁 The clamp might be the way to go
How did you go about getting the cable out of the metal casing?
I was literally looking at these lights in your last video going.... where did he buy those??? Thanks for sharing how you made them, I am literally buying locline right now
Hi there! Thank you for a great channel! Since you are using airbrush so much - do you have any spray booth?
I exchanged the boomarm of one of my lamps with one, I can attach from top to bottom, so there is no boomarm in the way.
Luckily they are so simillar, that the connections, I exchanged just fitted.
The tertia boomarm is now my Camera rig.
Did you know, that squidmar uses a 150$ magic arm, just to hold up one light pannel? 😂
You should check out the 3D printed light arch. I printed one which took a while but it is great.
wht kind of Lightbulb you use? thx :D great stuff!
He nice video!! What light bulbs are you using?
Thanks for your video it was great to watch.Idi watch Adams video and I did build one like his but the problem I have is it's not staying up it falls down I thought it was a good idea I noticed on your you have the armature wire doubled and twisted I just have one armature wire loke Adam did his but I did stick another wire up the tube but it still falls down do you have any ideas on this as I do leather work so I did a light over my stitching pony. Thanks Dave
Thanks a million! The double armature wire adds a ton stability, but depending on the length of your lamps a key element to sustain the weight is the addition of a short stiff metal rod at the base (even better if it's not completely inside the loc-line but also a bit inside the neck of the flange). 15-30cm are enough to add a stable verticality and from there you can safely bend and extend the rest of the length! Let me know how it goes 😊
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM I will thanks I was using an LED panel VILTROX L116T CRI95+ Super Slim
Hello, I have a problem with the stability of the Loc-Line. What kind of wire are you using?
You mean you want to make the hose harder to move? Cleaning the joints with alcohol should make it feel more rigid.
what kind of light bulbs do you use? i have some different ones but they all stick out from the hood, shining in my eyes
Great solution! I use the Tertial lamps already and they’re great. The arms are indeed the weakest link. Time to raid the aquarium store. Thanks!
What to do now.. I have watched all of your videos(some of them many times).
Patreon had more right? :)
What hobby desk level will this lamps get me into?
what are the bulbs tho? couldnt find any 6000k 10-15w cri90+ e27 bulbs
Very interested in a video about how to take good pictures of miniatures!
New challenge idea. Limited strokes. Paint a model in a limited amount of strokes. Be careful how you load the brush and plan the work. I have not tried it myself but I saw it as a challenge for canvas painters. Not sure what a reasonable limit is but maybe 50. No airbrush and cleaning off oils counts as brush strokes!
Grazie Marco, in ogni cosa che fai ci metti il cuore... Metterò una lampada MarcoFrisoni s.p.a. anche sul mio povero tavolo da hobbista imbranato. ❤
What color temp bulbs?
hey Marco, thanks for sharing. I have an unrelated question. Correct me if wrong, but your channel is called not just mecha? But I have hardly seen mecha at all on your table ever!
My good friend dived into that hobby and with all discussions, it looks like it has some joints with miniature painting, but yet it's quite a different thing. Do you have any plans to give a shot for something like building/painting a "robot". I think people might be interested to give it at least a look :) Cheers!
Innovative.
U good boy Marco
Gradissimo!! (Commento random in italiano)
I bought two of those flat panel lights that Adam Savage talked about, but I find they are not bright enough for painting. Not quite. A third one or maybe larger sized ones would be better. I wish I had just bought something cheap.
Doc Octopus' lamps.
What color temp do you normally use for your bulbs? I may have missed it, so apologies if it's in the video :)
It's in a dedicated video. Daylight blue at 6400K and 90%+ CRI are best.
@@p_serdiuk Awesome, thanks for the info. I'll look through the old vids for it.
HALLO MARCO!
How on earth has Marco only got 65k subscribers? He is THE go to guy for mini painting.
Marcoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HEY MARCO!!CAN I SEE YOU WORK ON SOME ORKS OR ORK STUFF FROM WARHAMMER I NEED SOME INSPIRATION WITH OIL PAINT WASHES PLEASE!!!.
It would bei so cool to see auf tutorial on miniature photography from you :) if your wife does not want to be in front of the camera, maybe she can explain it to you? ;)
Uhhhh... I've been looking forward to some reliable information on lighting!
Now I want to have an entire battle station of octopus Adam Savage arms where I just have all kinds of cool shit and tie each arm to a chain so I can pull them closer to me without having to move. Have 4 arms for lamps, 2 arms that hold a vice from each side so I can drill things, another dozen arms with smaller arms that hold minis together while I glue....just arm my shit up, fam.
I made one of Adams lamps with a selfie ring light and its ok but even with armature wire its droopy but mine reaches over a 1m. My 2 existing lights I added lengthening rods.

My wife is a prof photographer as well..get your wife on the show please
No LED?????
I still didn't find an LED light I really like... I'm still a lightbulb guy!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM If possible could you tell us the model of the led lightbulb you use ?
@@ilionheat6510 He did in a dedicated video. IIRC it's Phillips 6400K 13W with 90%+ CRI. Those bulbs are a bit hard to find tho.
