@@lisaannkeith5480 Hi. Also diabetic here. They will take any working organ that's in good enough shape to be used. For a type 1 diabetic, this could mean everything except your pancreas. If you have diabetic eye disease, however, they might not take your corneas, since it's not only your retinas that are damaged by that.

That’s not how transplants work. Trust me I know. You can’t meet the family until after a year. This gives time for the emotions to die down. Also, both parties have to agree.
@@heartsforurmum that was really the after thought about both parties having to agree. The main point is you are not allowed to meet the donor with emotions being so high.
I couldn’t do this to any of my children! I’d let them take any of their internal organs to help save another child but not their face. I don’t think I’d be able to cope knowing that there’s someone else a stranger walking around, living their best life that my child didn’t get to live with their face. I’d don’t know what I’d do if I ever saw them in the street. Fair play to parents who are/would be strong enough to agree to this and have my full and complete respect, but I know I couldn’t especially because my daughters are the absolute double of me and my sons are the absolute double of their father. It would break me! I watched the episode and that broke me and I’m not someone who cries easily due to things that happen in the past. It did make me wonder if they deliberately put the girl in the elevator with the mom who turned them down originally when they asked her to guilt trip her into letting them do the operation. If they did that’s wrong on so many levels what the hospital staff did because they asked the mom multiple times before she got in the elevator to leave after saying goodbye to her late daughter, then out the blue just as they knew she was leaving they entered the elevator with the girl who they were asking for! I donated all my afterbirths (something that a lot of parents don’t know you can do and most hospitals don’t mention it) because they can use it to help save other babies if the cells are a match. And as I said they can use whatever organs they need but not their face no way and I know that might make me sound mean but that’s my child’s and it’s personal!
@Keii_Ookami I hope your situation turned out better, but you don’t know me. You don’t know how many times I have been to the hospital myself and you don’t know how many funerals I have been to. You don’t know my background as a first responder. Medical doctor duty is to do no harm, and in my experience people who put on their thing to be an organ donor for example don’t always receive the best treatment. What the brain does sometimes is it shuts itself down to reboot itself. People should always do the right thing instead aside their own selfish ambitions. My great uncle actually died and he was completely dead and when he came back to life, he was in his coffin. You do not know what you talk about you’re like everyone else. You think the policy of the medical should revolve around your own experience.
That’s gotta hurt as a mother. A face you helped create on a person, but that beautiful person d*es. Yet her face goes on. Still blinking, speaking, everything. But it isn’t your child’s face. It’s attached to a strangers body. While your child’s body lies in the ground.
