That’s so strange these videos are years old but I still needed it today.. I just purchased a 9700 to replace my 991 alpha and your video really helped me out.
I know these videos are several years old but they are still very much relevant. Just purchased a 9700 and it's amazing at the capabilities it has. As someone that does not have lots of free time right now to sit and figure a lot of the more involved aspects of the radio, your videos have been a huge help. Thank you very much Eric for all your effort. Keep up the good work. 73' Jason
Can't wait to see you run this on some satellites. I'm not a buyer for the 9700, but I know alot of you are going to get it up on a good satellite antenna and really work it.
I just bought the IC7300 and haven't powered it up yet. Many things to learn about it and I can only listen until I take the technician test to Grandfather to general. My license expired well over a decade ago and the low band rigs I had were Healthkit..I can't wait until I get licensed agn. The radio in this video is very cool and I think it would look great setting next to the IC7300. Next year maybe. I'm very limited in space outside and just having a vertical for 20,15,and 10, and trapped inverted V for 40 and 80 is about it for now... I plan to take down a 3 element yagi for 10,15, and 20 and the tower sometime this late summer or fall from a house down state from me. So I will have that too.
Thanks! Very good video! Got my IC-9700 yesterday. Still no time to even unbox it due to QRL but going to set up this weekend with the help of this vid. Well done! 73 PE2AAB
Very nice, Eric! Could you please show us some 23cm ops... Of course that band varies quite wildly in different areas due to population, how many hams have equipment, # of repeaters if any, etc. Also a review of 23 cm antennas would be in order... : -) 73 John
Thanks Eric this was good , the manual is confusing. I'm sure I will like this 9700 better than my 991 .and looking forward to seeing more from you. Keep up the great work kc5ulu
as per your comment. The 910H doesn't have much of anything of band scope. It's the S meter with segments that go up and down. No color, no waterfall. If you see a "peak" your have to dial to it quickly. The term scope is very generously used
I bought an IC9700 a few weeks ago and have started to use it over the last few days. It's my first rig and I love it. The only 'issue' so far is that the dimple in the tuning dial is too small for my finger! The sides are too steep and it's not a comfortable fit. Sad Panda! 😭
Eric, I sat in front of my 9700 and went step by step with you making the adjustments to suit my taste. The one thing I was waiting for and you didn't cover was the fixed band edges and the best way to set them up. Any thoughts or ideas on this? Thanks for all of the great videos.

That's all I'm here for. Thanks so much

How does the receive compare to something like a kenwood ts 2000 on FM? In terms of simplex operation.
