You’re built to do this stuff bro, great, extremely clear and well laid out video. I don’t watch Minecraft RUclips personally, just watch tutorials here and when I need them, but I can tell you’re destined to do great things just from this video alone. Best of luck brother 👊🏻
@rhysball6359 did you make sure the machine isn't sticking onto anything? The walls should all be immovable blocks except for the one that triggers it to stop at the top. Let me known if that helps, does it stop coming from the top, or the bottom? Do both pistons fire (the upwards facing one, and downward facing one)? And then does it stop? Or does only one set fire? Does the flying machine end up with an air block gap in the middle when it stops? There are a lot of questions! If your really struggling then there is a world download for you to use in the description! And btw it doesn't work on bedrock if your trying it on that version!
This is the UPDATED version of - ruclips.net/video/oki7iUqCoDc/видео.html ! I spent a lot of time tweaking little bits to make it more efficient and compact. And it works for real!!! 😂 *World download with more examples also in description!!* Any problems, let me know! Watch until the end for an explanation if something went wrong!!!
Amazing improvment! I love how you included a way to fix the redstone torch line up as that was somthing that kinda drove me insane last time. Also the inclusion of timestamps in the video was nice.
Very true xD the redstone line explanation before was a mess but I couldn't remove it entirebecause after all, it was by far the cheapest way of inducing that signal! Though if anyone did get stuck, there was a world download with alternatives to the redstone array and the model build to fix any problems. Im glad it worked out for you!
took some time and committment but built it in my solo world. have been playing minecraft for a ridiculously long time and decided I needed to finally touch redstone. im so proud, its so satisfying and I couldn't be happier. thank you so much!
Redstone unlocks so many possibilities, this could be just a stepping stone for trying out some other redstone! If you get the hang of it's basic concepts, you can build and automate whatever you want ;) Glad you managed to build through this one, it wasn't the best tutorial but it's great to see you got it done. If anything goes wrong and you're annoyed with it then refer to the world download in the description for a model elevator! Enjoy it :)
@@Carzon3 I think it's 12 blocks! Thought however deep you make it, the only thing that will change is the connection of the bottom to the top via the redstone torches.
ikr, we are LIMITED with these blocks. I mean barrels are the closest things imo to represent a elevator shaft but it'd be nice if blocks like concrete were immovable but that also wouldnt work out well xD
thanks man this build is great, i was doing a ewok village and I used your elevator in a tree the only thing is that it took too much place but i made my tree bigger and it was still too small so i added some nice detail to make the tree even bigger and to make it better and i made it your elevator. it work very well in every situation and i didn't think it would work in my condition but it worked thank you i hope you a great futur.
I'm glad it worked!!! Put it to good use! If you know your redstone you can always make it into a 1x1 if you want it to fit into a smaller tree! I liked this 2x2 design and I hope it works well for you, thanks for the nice comment :)
@@TheGoldenDragonmc i guess but i think how i made it makes it more detailed and i wanted a 2x2 and your design is pretty compact and its cool the effect really worked you did a great job creating this elevator, you should be proud
Thanks for the video, super useful, but one question: does it work on bedrock? (I know barrels stick to slime blocks in bedrock but I can use honey blocks)
Unfortunately this tutorial wont work for bedrock :/ The pistons there do not work similar to java so the elevator will not function properly! The rest should be find but the core elevator will not work. But Im glad you took the time to watch this tutorial!
I assume you're talking about the block in the upper mechanism that the sticky pistons is attached to, next to the dropper. This block is supposed to block the elevator from moving any further once it's reached the top, since it connects with the slime blocks and forces the pistons to stop since they will reach their push limit once that block touches the slime of the elevator and tries to get pulled along. The block is handled by the piston, with the redstone wiring connecting it up to the button at the bottom, which you should have connected with a load of redstone torches? When you press this button, what should happen is, that the piston in the upper mechanism, attached to the block, will retract, and in the time where the block is retracted and no longer connected to the elevator, the dropper is activated and activates the observer looking into it and so the elevator in turn to allow it to move down. So you've probably not connected the button at the bottom, to the upper mechanism properly, check the connections and the redstone torch array to see what's wrong. If you can hear the piston retract and the elevator tried to move but can't, then check your timings on the repeater and the activation of the dropper in the upper mechanism, refer to the video. And check you've build the elevator with the correct number of blocks! If nothing else works, then I've attached a world download to the design in the description, so use that to see where went wrong, Hopefully this helps!
19:15 for some reason when ever u called it it does a activation loop making the elevator go up and down repeatedly without activating a button im on 1.21.1
did you check the model elevator in the world download? look in the description to find it, I made the design at 19:15 in that world too. It should work
I do know redstone pretty well I would say so I knew most of the stuff that you were saying (I just was lazy and didn't want to make my own design lol) But I like how you were explaining it to people who wouldn't already know. Very informational, like how you were explaining observer orientation (Edit) I just finished the video and realized that you had a whole section on explanations at the end, so I guess its even MORE informational then I thought lol. (The elevator worked by the way :))
There is in fact an updated version of this! (In the description and the pinned comment!) I thought that this was a bit outdated and even though you might see the explanations as great, they were quite confusing for others! And I somewhat agreed. Therefore I've made the updated one which might be better! Thanks for the encouragement :) If you managed to make it using this video, even better! XD
@@TheGoldenDragonmc I did get it to work haha, also I didn't watch the explanations because I already know redstone pretty well and understood the flying machine, but just watching the main video I had assumed that they would be great lol
@Watch_Dogg117 good to see a fellow redstone in the comments then xD have a great time with it! I'm sure you can also make some improvements to it if need be!
@Watch_Dogg117 I might try to make one for multiple floors too! Apparently people can't find any good ones... I've been getting a lot of requests for it from the comments
@@tuliodaio3867 use the wiki and identify the immovable blocks you want to use in your build. In this build, I've used barrels since they don't get stuck to the slime and they suit an elevator theme without being too ugly. You can also separate the slime flying machine from the other blocks using air around it. Your choice. A world download is in the description if you want to see what I did.
How far did you dig down because my redstone torches when I keep stacking them all the way to the top of the shaft the last one turns on idk how to do it I spent 2 hours on this and it didn’t work 😢
I'm sorry the redstone torches can be a pain to put in place. This is just part of the design if you want to make it cheap! The last redstone torch should be turned off and 1 block from the surface, if it isn't, then you follow the steps at 9:21 where I rebuild the array with one more torch at the bottom so the whole redstone torch line is shifted down one more to make it possible to have the last one at the top turned off, one block from the surface. If the last torch, one block from the surface is turned on, then all you need to do is add 1 more torch at the bottom, which powers the bottom most torch of the array before. If you do this, the signal should be inverted and the top torch should be turned off. All you need to do is connect the button wiring to turn off the torch you placed down to fix the stacked torch array. I know it's complicated but it's the cheapest method! You just need a way of transferring a signal from the bottom to the top. IF you need any more help or are really stuck, see the world download in the description!! Hope this helps :)
@@claire3607 the elevator can go down as far as it wants! In this example, it was around 12 blocks, the only thing that will change is the connection from the bottom part of the elevator to the top. So when you get to it, the redstone torch array will be a lot taller and will take more time to make. If you want to refer to anything else you can check out my world download in the description of the video for a model elevator! Hope this helps you understand!
Did you try building the torch array normally like at 8:29? Regardless, to flip the signal of the top torch (this torch is the only torch of significance) you have to add one more torch to the torch array, to flip the states of the torches, and so flip the state of the top torch. Try squeezing another torch to the array like I did at 9:46 and see if that works. If there are any more problems, there is a world download in the description if you want to have a look at the models!
If your stuck, try using the world download I've left in the description to see my model design. Try make sure everything is properly built! It might be the redstone torch array that's causing you the problem, have a look in the world download!
Bedrock elevators work very differently.. If you try this on bedrock it'll probably get stuck xD If you want a bedrock version I'm sure there are tutorials out there!
Have you made sure the redstone torch array is setup correctly? If it is, test if you can get a signal at the top, if you can, then you've probably messed up the upper mechanism If this doesn't help, then there is a world download for you to refer to!
Are you sure you've tried everything?? All you need to make that last redstone torch turn off, is to add another redstone torch somewhere in the array. I know they are complicated and fustrating if you an uneven depth but in the end, it is the cheapest to build! If you are REALLY fustrated with it, there is a world download link in the description were you can analyse how the model works. I have also added some alternative link methods that arent redstone torches that you can use if you really cant get them to work. Lmk if your still stuck, I'll try help if I can
are you sure? Make sure the last torch is turned off but one block from the top. As long as the button at the bottom then turns it on when its pressed, you should be fine. If your really stuck then there is a world download for you to test how it works with my model!!
What does the redstone tower do in the tutorial one and do i really need it? Asking because i am making the bottom part fully open because down there i am gonna build my storage room and i want it to be open
@@wakze9018 the towers only use is to transfer a signal from the bottom button the top section. If you can figure out another way of transferring this signal, then use that instead by all means. The torch array is just the cheapest form of vertical transport that I can think of, so I used it. I've got some other designs to replace the torch tower in the world download in the description. But if you know redstone, you should be able to work something out.
@@TheGoldenDragonmc I am not good with redstone so do you mean that its purpose is that, when you press the button on top and the elevator is down it's gonna come up or what?
@@wakze9018 the redstone torch tower is used to bring a signal from the bottom up to the top. So when you press the button at the bottom of the elevator shaft, if the elevator is at the top, it sends it from the top, to the bottom. The last redstone torch of the tower is off, so when you press the button at the bottom, the signals of each of the torches alternate. So if they were off originally, they would be on, if they were on originally, they would be off. So the torch at the top, which is originally off, would turn on, and would activate the top section, and release the elevator from the top. Hopefully that makes sense? Again, the world download is in the description if you want to see a model of the elevator and see how it works.
If you want the redstone torch at the top to be off, then follow what I say from 9:22 onwards You basically need to add another redstone torch to the torch tower to flip the signals of each of the torches. In doing so, the torch at the top would now be turned off.
If the moveable block is sticking to the flying machine, you probably havent built the elevator right. Make sure you have used the right amount of blocks, including the one movable block I added at 13:05 IF you are still struggling, I have linked the world download in the description, you can use that to help figure out the problem!
It doesnt???? Try installing the world download into your saves folder (in the description of the video) and see if the model works in 1.21. If it doesnt I'll need to update the video.
Nice vid! The elevator works very well and normally with other 2x2 elevators you would like no clip through it. Although the torches were actually the cheapest way i suffered a bit because my elevator was from Layer 45 to -39
yeah, in the description there is a world download where I show off different ways of connecting top to bottom, its more expensive but you can use them if youre able to get the materials!
Make sure you've linked the connections from the top and bottom properly! Double check! If you still can't get it to work, try the example elevator world download in the description, you can see where you've went wrong. Hope this helps!
The number of times you did not give enough information is exceptionally frustrating. Giving the orientation of the elevator _after_ the instructions to build it, the restone torch tower 'if this is wrong, rip it all down and build it lower' is so not great. That being said, thank you very much, this was a nice thing to have built :)
@@CaodeSucks yeah, well I'm not a very good explainer lol, especially for a build made my myself with no proper planning. I just loved how the elevator worked and wanted to share the design. The torch array was the most frustrating part to get across for me, since you have to check first, then strip it all down if it's not correctly placed otherwise the rest of the connections are hard to so. I new this would be an issue. The world download is there if you want to triple check what you've done is correct too! An elevator like this is always going to be complex and not as simple as it looks, it took a while to get this one functioning, though i'm glad youre satisfied with the outcome!
What you could do, is connect a redstone line all the way down from the upper button, to the trapdoor at the bottom (the trapdoor will set off the observer when the flying machine is at the bottom, which will therefore call it back up. This is as simple as digging a staircase (out of sight) all the way to the bottom and connecting a redstone line. If the power is not enough and the length of the line is too long, you can use repeaters to extend the pulse all the way to the bottom. This is not in the initial design in the video because it assumes you will be going down with the elevator, so you send it up from the bottom and call it down from there. If you know a bit more about redstone or don't want to connect the top button using a long piece of redstone wire and repeaters, you can always have a go at using another method like pistons and/or observers to connect the top button to the trapdoor if you want that functionality. Though a simple redstone line will work! If you need help for anything else while you build this elevator, remember there is a link to a world download in the description! You can refer to that if anything breaks though it doesn't include the redstone line connecting the upper button to the trapdoor at the bottom (to send the elevator back up) for the reason I mentioned above. Hope this helps!
Amazing video! But I have a problem, if I'm at the bottom of the elevator and send it up to soon come back to me, it will come. Above at the surface I send it down, then if it reaches the bottom it won't come back up if I press the button above for the bottom of the elevator to come up, and my pea inched red stone brain can't process any of this problems, do you know what is happening?
@@Bertsalt so if you press the top button, the elevator won't trigger to come up from the bottom? If so, you've probably worked the top button to the bottom incorrectly, you'll need to get a redstone signal to flip the trapdoor at the bottom to send the elevator back up! There is a world download in the description for you to refer to a model elevator if that helps?
the top works perfectly and the lower part was too, idk what happened to the machine afterwards tho rn when i start it from bottom it moves one block and one piston just disconnects stopping the whole machine, idk if its the fps timing or did i do something wrong(NVM sorted now i had other red stone builds along side so the torches activating flashes 15 times a second so it timed oof the observer and stopped piston when it shouldn't have been stopped)
So all is fixed? XD If you need anymore help or a reference, you can refer to the world download in the description! There you'll find the model build you can refer too! Hope this helps if there are more problems!
Hm, well the dropper is an immovable block so it can't stop the flying machine. What stops it is the block next to it in the upper mechanism. This block is attached to the sticky piston and is placed such that the flying machine will stop on contact with it. It then retracts quickly to allow the flying machine to descend when you call it down. The dropper is activated to send a signal to the observer, to activate the machine. If you're confused, look in the description for a world download with the model elevator. There you can see how it's meant to be built!!
@@vianneyhugotte6890 well it can't be the dropper, because it's immoveable, check the walls around it to see if there is any other block that is movable, attaching to the slime and causing it to stop. Make sure you're on java, and use the list of immovable blocks given in the java wiki to see if there are any blocks in your wall surrounding the elevator that ARENT immovable. If you've used barrels, make triple sure everything is just barrels and the only other blocks are the dropper and that one movable block. If the block is immovable, the elevator cannot be effected. Any more issues see the world download, and refer to that model.
What do you mean by lower parts? Does the elevator break apart when activated? Make sure the elevator does not stick to anything else while it is moving otherwise it will stop. The only block meant to stop the elevator is the one at the top places along with the upper mechanism
@@liamvanhelmond1901 sometimes, so? Are you on java or bedrock. If you're on bedrock edition (console, mobile) then this will not work for you. If you're on java and it still doesnt work, I can help.

@@TheGoldenDragonmc by the way I’m needing blocks around because I’m building a hotel. It’s an elevator like that but how did it work for you with barrels? How did it not get stuck?
Are you sure you followed all the steps? This is a java only build. If you can't find the problem, the world download to an example is in the description, you can see where you went wrong!
It's made to hold a singular moveable block that will stop the flying machine at the top when the slime blocks come into contact with it. Since pistons have a push limit, they will stop after 12 blocks, the block at the top in the stopping mechanism is the 13th block, so the machine stops. The redstone behind it retracts the block when activated, so the machine can fly freely down! Hopefully this explanation helps.
I managed to get everything right until the top part; for some reason I just can't figure out how and where I should get my elevator to stop; and the button doesn't seem to send it back down. If it helps, I had to use the alternate torch setup as I also didn't quite dig it correctly. Any idea why this might be? Cool tutorial and nice design, though.
Im assuming you're stuck on section 3. Just to save you time reading this, if you want help and a reference elevator instead, I've left a link to the example world download in the description so you can see how it should actually be. It might help better than my explanation since I dont exactly know your problem. You said you've used the torch setup, the last torch should be one block below the top and unlit! If it isnt, follow 9:08. To make this elevator be flush with the ground, since its 4 blocks tall, we have to build the stopping mechanism a bit below the surface. 10:54 is where I begin carving out the space for the mechanism, it is 3 blocks in height so I make space for it accordingly (The actual stopping block is placed at 13:49 - this is the block that will come in contact with the slime block as the machine rises, in order to stop it) Make sure you've carved out the wall correctly from 10:54 and placed down the blocks like I've done. This upper mechanism will always work if you've built the flying machine to the dimensions in the video. If you've done it correctly, the elevator should end up flush with the ground at the top once you send it up - like 15:30 (13:03 is an important block!) Make sure all sides are barrels/immovable blocks (or air) so that the slime machine doesnt get stuck. The only block exception should be the moveable block used to stop the machine (13:49) If the mechanism doesnt seem to work to send the machine down, then its probably the wiring of the upper mechanism thats gone wrong. Can you hear the piston retracting after you push the button? If you cant, then you'll have to look at your wiring more carefully, the steps from 15:33 might help if you havent looked there already. 16:00 onwards is very important to understand. If the piston works and the button lights up the correct redstone line above the torch, then it might be the repeater delay (11:24), or the connection to the dropper (which will activate the dispenser) 12:37 is a good place to see how the mechanism *should* look. If it looks any different try to copy what I've done - the wiring at 12:16 might not be seen, but is also important to activate the piston. Hopefully this solves your problem? Maybe parts of it, then again, there is a download in the description I put there so that you can resolve your own problems. I dont exactly know what youre referring to via text and most of the time, its better to have a look at an example instead. It would also be of use perhaps to take a look at the explanation bit towards the end of the video, then, through intuition, you may be able to find your problem. The explanation model is also very stripped down so its easier to see the moving parts. All the best!
Im not sure if it's PaperMC's fault, Server lag, or updates, but the top side doesn't send the elevator because it does not register the dropper's change. The moveable block works just fine but it cant update the barrel under it (Update: I tried experimenting and when I right clicked on the barrel just under the 13th movable block it registered as an update and the elevator moved, any ideas how I can activate this update?)
Is the observer facing the dropper when it activates? If it is, and everything is positioned perfectly, then it may be something server side, if youre on a server. However, that is quite unlikely, so id suggest comparing the build youve made with the model build in the world download (in the description). See if the positioning is correct, and the redstone can power the dropper properly. Hope this helps.
I followed every single step and at first it worked but now, everytime it is on the top floor it won't go down again, because the piston is one too high up, but if I place it one lower, the elevator just arrives one too low for the piston again. I'm stuck at this problem for at least three hours now, trying to fix it, but nothing works. what should I do to fix it?
Well if you're really frustrated, I have linked the world download in the description! You can go over there and compare the working build, see what's going wrong through that. Looking at your issue, it might be to do with the way you built the elevator itself... check the world download!
@@Wwmmasw2121 I'm not sure, because bedrock redstone functionality can be very different. It's impossible to make this exact flying machine on bedrock for that reason. I don't think sticky pistons act in the same manner. Try looking up other tutorials on elevators on bedrock, if you can get an elevator working, and it uses an observer, you can probably tweak the setup in this video to work for you.
What do you mean by that? If you don't have the call buttons to bring it up or send it down, you can't have an elevator! You'll have to extend the functions all the way to the top. If you want the model elevator I've left world download in the description for you to check!
Xbox is bedrock edition. On bedrock edition elevators have to be built in a totally different way xD It's how the pistons and slimeblocks work. This design works for JAVA edition, which is the pc version you could say. Since the elevator can only be built this way on that version. Maybe you can find a bedrock elevator tutorial out there somewhere!
I'm grateful you liked the explanation, but I've got to say I'm far from the best redstone youtuber 😂 But I do enjoy making redstone videos and explaining what I can :) Currently the channel is overrun by skyblockers, hence that's what I now upload. But redstone always has a special place!!
You mean, when it lands at the bottom it is one block too low? In that case you can always build up one layer from the bottom so that the elevator will stop at the level you want. You will have to rewire the trapdoor though
great video and the elevator works!. but its really hard to eye ball the call from top redstone ad-don, mine just starts looping and i checked it multiple times as far as i see. can anybody help me with this?
If you still cant get it to work, I have provided a world download to the model elevator I built. You can dissect it there and figure out your issue! There are also alternate methods of transferring signals that dont include the redstone torches but these are the cheapest to get a hold of. Let me know if you need any more help. Hope this comment helps!
This wasn't meant to be a multi floor elevator, but all you'd need to do is copy the stopping mechanism on every floor you want it to stop at. It will be hard unless you know how the elevator works...
the design is broken. Just made it in the latest version and the elevator that has the ability to call from either floor loops infinity once u press it from either floor. ( i also used ur world download to compare and yes, urs is broken too :( )
Hm are you 100 percent sure this is the case??? I tested it on 1.20 and it seemed fine!! I'll test it soon to see if your right, if it is broken then this tutorial is useless :( Thanks for letting me know, though I've never experienced that before happen to this elevator. I'll try and see if I can fix it!
It turns out, what you said is right but not in the way I perceived it xD The original design works fine but yeah, the design where you can call from either floor does loop but that was my mistake because I just had quickly put it together for it to work, it can be a lot better. And I showcased the other options for sending the signal downwards! I'll update the design to make it not loop soon and I'll update the world download so it works out! Hopefully everything will be fine after that!
I have successfully added the updated version and world download to the description! I've added some more examples too so you get an idea, have fun with it! Let me know if any problems happen! :)
Very good Underground Elevator, that's almost what I was searching for, since I don't have much knowledge about redstone, could you ( @TheGoldenDragon ) or anyone tell me how to use this example of elevator and make it as a multifloor elevator? I can't really find tutorials of multifloor underground elevators...
I'm glad you liked the elevator build! I spent some time working on it. However, it was not made with the multi-floor aspect in mind. There is a reason why there aren't many multi-floor elevators! They are hard to make especially designs where you choose the floors you want to go to. Perhaps if you tweak this design and have the upper mechanism replicated at each floor of the elevator to stop the elevator or send it back up or down, it could work, but using this design, to get to a higher floor you'd need to go through multiple other floors stopping and starting until you get to the desired one. Its tricky to say that this elevator can be used to multiple floors, the elevator itself is great, but the mechanisms you'd have to put into place to make it multi-floor would make it much harder. For now, this elevator desiyn should be only used between two points but if you know your redstone you can adopt it for multiple floors!! Hope this helped.
@@TheGoldenDragonmc Tysm, I got it working from the world download!! Maybe it was because I originally built this on feather 1.19.4 and now tried it on 1.20.6! But that doesnt matter because it works. Ty again!
Ok, so how my brain works is, if I see a red stone design I can understand about 98% of how it works, but I cannot for the life of me make something new
@alihesso2233 no, sorry xD I don't main bedrock edition, I play java 99 percent of the time. A lot of people have requested one for bedrock, but since pistons are so different, it's really hard to make!! Again, I'm sorry about that :( there must be a bedrock edition out there somewhere!
Not with one elevator (one set of pistons) Youll have to have at least 2 sets of them, otherwise you'll reach the piston push limit quite easily. You can use my design as inspiration if you want! Though it'll be harder for sure.
@@TheGoldenDragonmc i did it succesfully in a creative world and planned on getting a schematic for my survival world until I realized I have iron armor and tools
Really good tutorial! Works on PaperMC 1.20.2 But there was one thing i noticed while watching and later confirmed in the world download. The contraption at 19:20 will just loop the signal forever once you press the button.
Yeah I did encounter that problem when prepping the world for download and realised too late but I'm sure I made a fix to it? Well if I didn't I am counting on the fact that the people who get to that stage know a bit more of how redstone works that the average player. So fixing it can't be that hard, it was half a demonstration of what an alternative could look like in the end
@@TheGoldenDragonmc Just checked again! The download is a bit weird because the world is inside the world folder a second time. In the outer world folder its fixed, in the world folder inside the world folder its broken.
Yes!!! Of course you can, make an ingenuitive way but you need to locate the part which you need to activate as shown in 16:00! You can setup whatever system you want but make sure it connects to that redstone line! (It will then deactivate the torch to trigger the elevator) (16:01) Or you can activate the block which it sits on and that will also work! If you know how the contraption works and are good at knowing which redstone pieces go where, you can move the whole setup so you have more space to fit in a secret connection! Let me know how it goes! Make sure to watch the explanation if you want to know about it more in-depth and the world download is in the description if you want to play around with it!

It is very important to know what sorts of blocks are immovable!! Check the description also for a link to the website where you can find a list of immovable blocks. You'll have to scroll down a bit. If all else fails you can get the world download in the description and make sure you've done it properly. Let me know how it goes!!
@dungydoesstuff8179 that's unfortunate because quartz is movable xD you could always use air or other immovable blocks as your wall around the shaft if it was originally quartz but you can use your ingenuity to make it work whilst also making it look decorative! Glazed terracotta is the closest immovable block I think which also looks decorative but can't be pulled or pushed by a piston. If you make the wall around the elevator air, the the walls around that quartz you may be able to get the same vibe as your yrying to achieve, the only downside would be that the connections and mechanics would stick out, but if you can hide them then it's possible!
@@TheGoldenDragonmc thanks a lot for ur help I decided to lower the elevato starting position to not stick to the quartz haha, but I am gonna have trouble trying to hide the redstone since I want my elevator to have a cool entrance when it goes down to an open area lmao
@dungydoesstuff8179 lol if you think you know how the redstone works and your comfortable with using it you can probably try and shift the redstone connection (the redstone torches array) further into the wall to cover it up if that's what's sticking out for you. The top mechanism will have to be in contact with the flying machine at the top so in this instance you won't be able to hide it. Very well. The corners of the elevator shaft don't need to be filled with immovable blocks as the slime blocks can stick to the corner blocks, maybe you can make use of that to hide some of the redstone? Again, if you want to try out some of the tweaks without destroying your build you can play around with my world download in the description!
No, unfortunately bedrock elevators have to work a lot differently. You can probably use the same concept but the elevator will have to be different! Bedrock pistons don't work like Java ones :/

Thanks for the encouragement :) I'm glad the video was helpful!!
I’m just building it now and the elevator doesn’t move… it moves once and then stops unfortunately. Don’t know what to do to fix this?
Does the flying machine still work in the latest version? I’ve watched plenty of times and im building it exactly as explained

Oh yah, and honey blocks will also stick to barrels, since honey functions similarly to slime blocks, except they don't stick to one another.
Idk why when i call it down it does not go down but when i break the block on the piston and the dropper it goes down golden dragon can u help me pls?
If nothing else works, then I've attached a world download to the design in the description, so use that to see where went wrong,

In this build, I've used barrels since they don't get stuck to the slime and they suit an elevator theme without being too ugly.
You can also separate the slime flying machine from the other blocks using air around it. Your choice.

its still going way above the ground
What if I wanted my elevator to go 48 blocks down? What should I do if the elevator can only do 12 blocks?

cool
Also if that is the purpose does the last redstone torch have to be off because i have it on and it doesnt work like i explained
If you want the redstone torch at the top to be off, then follow what I say from 9:22 onwards
You basically need to add another redstone torch to the torch tower to flip the signals of each of the torches.
In doing so, the torch at the top would now be turned off.
Great tutorial!!! like the newer design!!
When I Did it to go back down it took the moveable block with it any idea how to fix it Yes the moveable block is the one connected to the piston

An elevator like this is always going to be complex and not as simple as it looks, it took a while to get this one functioning, though i'm glad youre satisfied with the outcome!
is there a way to make it 3x3
Possibly, though it would be much more difficult since the added blocks would add to the piston push limit, it might require more than 2 pistons...
Hello! My upper button (after all the building) sends the elevator down but won’t call it up. What do I do?

@@Bertsalt so if you press the top button, the elevator won't trigger to come up from the bottom?

What stops it is the block next to it in the upper mechanism.
This block is attached to the sticky piston and is placed such that the flying machine will stop on contact with it. It then retracts quickly to allow the flying machine to descend when you call it down.
The dropper is activated to send a signal to the observer, to activate the machine.

Great video but i have a question. What is the stopoing mechanism on top?
10:54 is where I begin carving out the space for the mechanism, it is 3 blocks in height so I make space for it accordingly (The actual stopping block is placed at 13:49 - this is the block that will come in contact with the slime block as the machine rises, in order to stop it)
Make sure you've carved out the wall correctly from 10:54 and placed down the blocks like I've done. This upper mechanism will always work if you've built the flying machine to the dimensions in the video.
If you've done it correctly, the elevator should end up flush with the ground at the top once you send it up - like 15:30 (13:03 is an important block!)
Make sure all sides are barrels/immovable blocks (or air) so that the slime machine doesnt get stuck. The only block exception should be the moveable block used to stop the machine (13:49)
If the mechanism doesnt seem to work to send the machine down, then its probably the wiring of the upper mechanism thats gone wrong.
@@TheGoldenDragonmc Thanks for your speedy response! I'll take a look as soon as I get the chance to get online next.
Im not sure if it's PaperMC's fault, Server lag, or updates, but the top side doesn't send the elevator because it does not register the dropper's change. The moveable block works just fine but it cant update the barrel under it
(Update: I tried experimenting and when I right clicked on the barrel just under the 13th movable block it registered as an update and the elevator moved, any ideas how I can activate this update?)
@@TheGoldenDragonmc I just downloaded the world and I was completely dumbfounded. I placed the dropper on the opposite side lols. Thanks
@@christianjaopatalinjug7918 there we go! Have fun with the build now ;)
Glad I could help
I followed every single step and at first it worked but now, everytime it is on the top floor it won't go down again, because the piston is one too high up, but if I place it one lower, the elevator just arrives one too low for the piston again. I'm stuck at this problem for at least three hours now, trying to fix it, but nothing works. what should I do to fix it?
Well if you're really frustrated, I have linked the world download in the description! You can go over there and compare the working build, see what's going wrong through that.
Looking at your issue, it might be to do with the way you built the elevator itself... check the world download!
@@TheGoldenDragonmc Thanks, I checked it and now it works again. I still have no idea why it didn't work, but now it does. really helped me out
has anyone tried this at Bedrock?
This does not work on bedrock!! As displayed on the title
What is similar that works on bedrock @@TheGoldenDragonmc
@@Wwmmasw2121 I'm not sure, because bedrock redstone functionality can be very different. It's impossible to make this exact flying machine on bedrock for that reason. I don't think sticky pistons act in the same manner.
Try looking up other tutorials on elevators on bedrock, if you can get an elevator working, and it uses an observer, you can probably tweak the setup in this video to work for you.
can it work without the come up and down button? i made it really high and i dont want to destroy the thing and redo itif its wrong
What do you mean by that? If you don't have the call buttons to bring it up or send it down, you can't have an elevator!
You'll have to extend the functions all the way to the top.
If you want the model elevator I've left world download in the description for you to check!
does this work with bedrock edition?
No, the flying machine works completely differently in bedrock. There might be some tutorials out there for bedrock though!
It is good but why it can’t work on Xbox?
Xbox is bedrock edition.
On bedrock edition elevators have to be built in a totally different way xD
It's how the pistons and slimeblocks work.
This design works for JAVA edition, which is the pc version you could say. Since the elevator can only be built this way on that version.
Maybe you can find a bedrock elevator tutorial out there somewhere!
Could you make bedrock one?😅
@user-vn8mh3oq2s unfortunately, I don't have the expertise to build redstone in bedrock edition xD you'll find some tutorials out there somewhere!
Thank you so much!
might just use this lol... but im 1.12.2 below chad 😎
Well thats up to you haha
i love the explainations at the end. your by far the best minecraft redstone youtuber
I'm grateful you liked the explanation, but I've got to say I'm far from the best redstone youtuber 😂
But I do enjoy making redstone videos and explaining what I can :)
Currently the channel is overrun by skyblockers, hence that's what I now upload. But redstone always has a special place!!
I have a problem with mine because mine is 1 block below the area I want it to be
You mean, when it lands at the bottom it is one block too low?
In that case you can always build up one layer from the bottom so that the elevator will stop at the level you want. You will have to rewire the trapdoor though
@@TheGoldenDragonmc I fixed the problem my problem was my elevator stopped 1 block low beneath the top layer
@@CubeyWubey great! Enjoy the build :)
THE 2 PISTTON IS HARD
great video and the elevator works!. but its really hard to eye ball the call from top redstone ad-don, mine just starts looping and i checked it multiple times as far as i see.
can anybody help me with this?
If you still cant get it to work, I have provided a world download to the model elevator I built. You can dissect it there and figure out your issue!
There are also alternate methods of transferring signals that dont include the redstone torches but these are the cheapest to get a hold of.
Let me know if you need any more help. Hope this comment helps!
@@TheGoldenDragonmc I see the mistake i made thanks, lets see if i can fix mine.
[update] it Works!! thanks for the help.
How do you make it stop at certain certain floor
This wasn't meant to be a multi floor elevator, but all you'd need to do is copy the stopping mechanism on every floor you want it to stop at. It will be hard unless you know how the elevator works...
How deep did you make it here?
@@NitronFox 15 blocks!
You can check my world download to get a better measurement! (In description)
Alright thanks and when I try to go back up it’s not working it’s sending the signals too and the trapdoors working
I made it 32 blocks
Wait nevermind I built it on the wrong side
the design is broken.
I'll test it soon to see if your right, if it is broken then this tutorial is useless :(
Thanks for letting me know, though I've never experienced that before happen to this elevator. I'll try and see if I can fix it!
It turns out, what you said is right but not in the way I perceived it xD
The original design works fine but yeah, the design where you can call from either floor does loop but that was my mistake because I just had quickly put it together for it to work, it can be a lot better.

You can use it with honeyblocks if you want to! It should work the same way
Just dont use both honey and slime

Hey it happens to the best of us
Does it work for bedrock
No, bedrock pistons and flying machines don't work the same as java! So they have to be designed differently
@@TheGoldenDragonmc thanks for answering!, Do you have a video about the bedrock edition
@@TheGoldenDragonmcNot to be THAT guy, but i could try make a tutorial for one that works on Bedrock on my 2nd channel, Blue Kirby.
can it work in like a 5x5
Not with one elevator (one set of pistons) Youll have to have at least 2 sets of them, otherwise you'll reach the piston push limit quite easily. You can use my design as inspiration if you want! Though it'll be harder for sure.
I built this and IT WAS SO COOL

Really good tutorial! Works on PaperMC 1.20.2
But there was one thing i noticed while watching and later confirmed in the world download.
@TheStegosaurus_ that's odd... well no-one has complained so far so I guess its fine xD
did you ever find a fix to this@@TheStegosaurus_
Bro this really worked thank you very much
Np, enjoy!!
Can we add like a secret entrance instead of a obvious single button because i want my base to be VERY secret :D
Yes!!! Of course you can, make an ingenuitive way but you need to locate the part which you need to activate as shown in 16:00!
You can setup whatever system you want but make sure it connects to that redstone line! (It will then deactivate the torch to trigger the elevator) (16:01)
Or you can activate the block which it sits on and that will also work! If you know how the contraption works and are good at knowing which redstone pieces go where, you can move the whole setup so you have more space to fit in a secret connection!
Let me know how it goes! Make sure to watch the explanation if you want to know about it more in-depth and the world download is in the description if you want to play around with it!

hi if my last torch is activated what i should do?
9:12 follow my steps from there! You want the last torch before the top to leave turned on.
If your still stuck there is a link in the description for my model world so you can see where you went wrong.
Hope this helps!!
@@TheGoldenDragonmc it doesn't resolve anything, my torch is activated at the top, the method 2 you are saying is just going to to break it I belive i have to move it a bit
@MichaelScott-jv3ek how will it break it? You just need to add one more torch to the array to invert the last torch!
Again, if it gets worse refer to the world download, it's there for a reason!
how do i get the slime on my elevator to not literally stick onto everything?
Make sure everything it could stick too are immovable blocks, make sure to watch the start where I run through the items you will need. It is very important to know what sorts of blocks are immovable!!
Check the description also for a link to the website where you can find a list of immovable blocks. You'll have to scroll down a bit.
If all else fails you can get the world download in the description and make sure you've done it properly.
Let me know how it goes!!
@@TheGoldenDragonmc ohh okay, thats sad since I wanted to make the elevator around the middle of my base but a layer of the blocks around it is quartz
