God i wish they would add cut scenes like this in the game. One or two a case would be great. But I'm so happy the full game is finished
For anyone who hasn't played this game, you really should. Even apart from the beautifully macabre art the gameplay is what really sells it for me. I work full time so being able to fit in a game open to close in less than a half hour and make tangible progress is fantastic
Cannot recommend it enough

@@The7irishman77 I was wondering about that. I thought maybe they were endings for specific mysteries that I haven't seen yet. Kinda disappointed that they aren't in the game at all, maybe someday they'll get added in an update.
Working "full time" means nothing. I play a lot and guess what, I work a full time job too. No family makes it possible. Not lack of a job

I really would love to see cinematics like this in game, even if they're not to this level of quality. especially with the sound effects, and VA.
the feeling of impending doom, the sense of being in WAY over your head is so eerie and palpable in this trailer, perfectly encapsulating the game’s intended feel. you neither have the tools nor the power to save the world, but you have to anyway. even if you lose everything in the process, you have to try, because who else is going to?
very excited that the full release is finally here!! can’t wait to see where else this town of mysteries takes us.
I was surprised how much the gameplay reminds me of Fantasy Flight's Arkham tabletop games, particularly Eldritch Horror. The randomized elder gods with passive effects, the solving X number of mysteries before you can confront the elder god, the ever-looming threat of the doom track, the stat system, spells that have potentially-severe drawbacks, and especially the "move to a place, encounter a random event, make a choice and corresponding stat roll" stuff is all very Eldritch Horror. I wonder if the team are fans or if it's purely coincidence.
Yeah. It reminds me that one time years ago I was with my chumps at the pub where you could also play board games, so we were playing that Arkham Horror one and I thought "Geez, it would be so cool, if that was a video game, becouse setting it up and having friends to play it takes time and is such a hustle".
And the really funny part is this game is more like "Arkham Horror" than the "Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace" video game.
Been a huge fan of this game since 2019, i forgot that it was even still in early access after the switch release. So happy to see it finally reach its full form, and excited to experience the new characters and mysteries added since my last run!

I was playing the game from the beginning and I wish they put the cutscenes from this trailer in game. The mouth incision the scissor lady does would look so cool with a 3 second cutscene in combat as a result for hitting a heavy enough attack for it to show in the status section. Maybe I’ll try to see what I can mod myself if it allows it. Sadly I’m running steamOS so I’d only be able to figure out an expansion on the combat framework to allow for cutscene injection.
one of the limitations of the art style sadly, since the dev has the game based as a 1-bit retro style rpg game from Japan, there’s only so much they can passably do before it becomes technologically impossible on the hardware they’re trying to emulate from that era.
While fully animated cutscenes like this would be amazing, it wouldn’t fit into the style of the game, but would be amazing for its atmosphere and gameplay.
@@clard it’s running in game maker studio, if the game itself was suspended in the background, I’d say make the cutscenes frame by frame in MS paint and inject it as a video file that will play then resume the game as the video ends.
@@8-bitrick133 do you know how long it would take to make all those scenes with MS paint and animate them? This is made by one dude, you cant really blame him for not adding these cutscenes and more. Peoples expectations are so unrealistic now. And as someone else said these style of games can only handle so much before it breaks
@@cake94309 it’s made in “Gamemaker engine” there’s tutorials online of how to add movie files to gamemaker, and the game has an avid modding community which I particularly enjoy that love to push the bounds of what this can do.
I absolutely love the game it’s in no way a complaint to the one person developer , this is an amazing achievement. When something is in the public domain it’s impossible for people to not want to reinterpret or reinvent someone’s work, the ultimate form of flattery just ask Shakespeare about Romeo and Juliet
It in no way would be easy to animate all those little animation variations, but that’s the thing with modders, we tend to have a lot of free time. Check out some of the stuff that’s on nexus mods
There’s even a teenage mutant ninja turtles storyline and breaking bad story too for world of horror.

It's not a full track, but the notes do play at a certain point.

I'm bothered by the fact a hard copy doesn't seem to be coming out on PC. Been playing this game for three years, I don't own a Switch but I would love to have a physical release

surprisingly enough it hasn’t.
I like to think it’s mostly due to how the game is structured and designed, as most of the disgusting and visceral detail is mostly contained within the text while the pixel art that supplements is usually not as detailed so most of that horror you get is from the interpretation of what your character saw.
Someone get Netflix on the phone right goddamned now! We need a damn World of Horror anime with this artstyle and soundrack stat!
If it interests you, they are working on an Uzumaki anime, which is somewhat similar style with it being in black and white.
Don't let Netflix anywhere near this.

There are already some pretty meh anime adaptations of his work, but a promising adaptation of Uzumaki is in the makes

Whatever you guys do DO NOT buy it on ps4 (atleast until we get a good update), the in-game achievements (they're necessary in order to unlock things in-game) are bugged and even if you met te requirements to unlock certain items the game will not acknowledge the achievement in question and won't get said items (some of them are only able to do them on PC)

My Game Of The Year! The video game equivalent to the Arkham Horror Board Game I always wanted. AH: mother's Embrace was a good game but this one feels the closest to playing that tabletop game I love so much. Plus, no setup and tear down! :-)

it's a fun and creepy game. I bought it on a whim and even though I'm still figuring it out even now I did finish the tutorial scenario and one of the other scenarios. Got the shit kicked out of my character but it was really fun.
